Xiaomi AirDots wireless headphones (including AirDots Pro 2, AirDots 3 and Air 2 SE) have long been a popular accessory due to the combination of price, sound quality and convenience. However, many users face difficulties when trying to connect them to a laptop β especially if we are talking about older models with Bluetooth 4.0 or non-standard drivers. In this article, we will discuss all possible ways of connecting, from basic synchronization to solving common errors.
The main problem is that AirDots are initially optimized for Android/iOS smartphones, and laptops (especially those running Windows 10/11) sometimes donβt see headphones on the list of available devices. The reasons can be different, from a Bluetooth module that is disabled to driver conflict. We tested all the methods on Lenovo, HP, ASUS and MacBook laptops β and are ready to provide working solutions.
Important: If your AirDots have already been paired with another device (like a smartphone), you should first reset them to factory settings.
1. Preparation of headphones Xiaomi AirDots to connect
Before you pair your headphones with your laptop, make sure they're ready to sync.
- π Charging headphones and case: Charge level should be at least 30%. If the indicator on the case flashes red, connect it to charging for 10-15 minutes.
- π§ Removing headphones from the case: Get both earphones out - they should automatically turn on (blitzes white indicator).
- π Pair mode: Press and hold the button on the case (or touchpad on headphones) for 5-10 seconds until the indicator flashes red and white (for AirDots 3) or just white (for older models).
If the indicator doesn't flash, try:
- Return the headphones to the case and close the cover for 10 seconds.
- Remove them and repeat the button.
- For AirDots Pro 2: triple touch touch touch panel on any headphone activates pairing mode.
β οΈ Warning: If the headphones were previously connected to another device, they must be reset. To do this, hold the button on the case for 15-20 seconds until the indicator flashes red 3 times (for AirDots 3) or goes out and turns on white again (for other models).
2. Connect Xiaomi AirDots to a laptop on Windows 10/11
Windows syncs are usually smooth, but there are nuances. Follow the step-by-step instructions:
- Turn on Bluetooth on your laptop: Press Win + A β turn on the Bluetooth slider. Or go to Settings β Devices β Bluetooth and other devices.
- Add a new device: Click "Add Bluetooth or another device" β select Bluetooth. From the list, find Mi True Wireless Earphones (or the name of your model) and click on it.
Confirm the conjugation
- If a code appears (such as 0000 or 1234), confirm it on your laptop.
- Wait for the message "Ready!"
If the headphones are connected, but the sound is interrupted:
- π Check that in System settings β Sound. β Output selected AirDots, not built-in speakers.
- π΅ Disable other Bluetooth devices (mouse, keyboard) that may interfere.
- π Reset the headphones: return them to the case, close the lid for 10 seconds, then pull them out again.
- π§ Audio Cable (for AirDots 3 Pro): Some models support 3.5mm jack connectivity via adapter (sold separately).
For Linux, there is another way to use PulseAudio manually:
pactl list sinks | grep -i bluez # find device identifier
pactl set-default-sink <identifier># set as default device
