The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 fitness bracelet remains a popular gadget even years after its release, as its reliability, autonomy and functionality attract users, but Samsung smartphone owners often face problems when trying to synchronize: The devices can't see each other, the connection is cut off, and the app makes errors, because of the Bluetooth Low Energy protocol (BLE) and the energy saving policy of Android on Samsung phones.
In this article, we’ll break down three official ways to connect — through Mi Fit, Zepp Life, and an alternative method for older Android versions. Also, you’ll learn how to fix common bugs (such as code 10008 or 5001), update the bracelet’s firmware without crashing, and adjust notifications. If your Mi Band 4 was previously tied to another phone, we’ll show you how to reset it to factory settings without losing data.
1.Preparing Samsung phone for connection
Samsung’s settings need to be optimized before synchronization to avoid problems with Bluetooth and application backgrounds, especially for models with a One UI shell (such as the Galaxy S22, A53 or Note 20), where aggressive power saving can block the connection.
Follow the following steps:
- 📱 Update Android: Go to Settings → Software Update and install the latest patches. The versions below Android 10 may have errors with Mi Band 4.
- 🔄 Reset Bluetooth cache: Go to Settings → Apps → Bluetooth, click Storage and select Clear Cache.
- 🔋 Turn off battery optimization for the Mi Fit/Zepp Life app: Open Settings → Device Care → Battery. Slip three dots in the upper right corner and select Battery Settings. Find Mi Fit in the list and turn off Optimize.

⚠️ Warning: If your Samsung has Android 13+ installed, turn off Bluetooth Auto Disable in Settings → Connections → Bluetooth → Additional. Otherwise, the bracelet will detach after 10-15 minutes of inactivity before connecting.
2.How to connect Mi Band 4 to Samsung
Xiaomi officially recommends two apps: Mi Fit (obsolete) and Zepp Life (new, with advanced features), depending on the firmware version of the bracelet and the phone model, and a comparison of both methods is made below.
| Criteria | Mi Fit | Zepp Life |
|---|---|---|
| Support for Mi Band 4 | Yes (but no new features) | Yes (with an updated interface) |
| Synchronization of data | Slower, possible lags | Faster, more stable. |
| Notifications | Basic (SMS, calls) | Advanced (messengers, social networks) |
| Energy consumption | Higher than 10-15% | Optimized. |
Connection via Mi Fit (classic method)
Mi Fit is suitable for Mi Band 4 owners with firmware below 1.0.9.54. Download it from Google Play (avoid third-party APKs!).
Launch the app and sign up (or sign in via Xiaomi Account)|
Tap Profile → Add Device → Bracelet → Mi Smart Band 4|
Allow access to Bluetooth and Locations |
Wait for the bracelet to appear in the list and click on it |
Confirm pairing on phone and bracelet (vibration + tick on the screen Mi Band 4) |Sync the data (can take up to 5 minutes)
-->
If the bracelet is not detected, reboot the phone’s Bluetooth module: turn it off and turn it back on in the notification bar, then repeat the search in Mi Fit.
Connection via Zepp Life (recommended method)
Zepp Life (formerly Amazfit) is a more modern app with support for Mi Band 4/5/6.It works better on Samsung thanks to the optimized BLE 5.0 protocol.
Connection algorithm:
- Install Zepp Life from Google Play.
- Create an account or sign in via Xiaomi/Google/Facebook.
- Press + in the upper right corner → Bracelet → Mi Smart Band 4.
- Follow the instructions on the screen. If you request a firmware update, agree (this will solve many synchronization errors).
⚠️ Warning: On Samsung Galaxy S21/S22 Android phones 13, notification vibration may disappear after you connect. To fix this, go to Zepp Life Settings → Notifications → Vibration and select Strong Mode.
💡
If the bracelet is connected but does not display notifications, check the Do Not Disturb settings on your phone. On Samsung, some apps (like WhatsApp) may be blocked in the background. Add Zepp Life to exceptions: Settings → Notifications → Don’t Disturb → Allowed apps.
3. Solving common errors
Even with the right connection, Samsung users face typical problems, and below are ways to fix them.
Error 10008 ("Unable to connect")
The code 10008 is caused by Samsung's Bluetooth stack conflict with the Mi Band protocol.
- 🔄 Reboot both devices: Turn off the bracelet (hold the 10 seconds button) and restart the phone.
- 📱 Clear Bluetooth data: Settings → Applications → Bluetooth → Storage → Clear data
- 🔗 Use an alternative Bluetooth protocol: Install the nRF Connect app from Google Play, connect to the bracelet manually, and reset.
Bracelet does not vibrate at notifications
The problem is typical for the Samsung Galaxy A-series (e.g. A32, A72).
- ⚙️ The Zepp Life settings have turned off vibration for specific applications.
- 🔕 Do not disturb for Zepp Life is activated on the phone.
- 🔋 Samsung’s energy saving block the application’s background operation.
To correct:
- Open Zepp Life → Profile → Notifications → turn on the Vibration switch.
- In your phone settings, go to Notifications → Additional Settings → Priority Notifications and add Zepp Life to the list.

4. Update to the firmware of Mi Band 4 via Samsung
Outdated bracelet firmware can cause synchronization errors, especially on newer versions of Android. Xiaomi regularly releases updates for the Mi Band 4, but on Samsung, their installation is sometimes accompanied by failures.
Requirements:
- 📱 Bracelet charge ≥ 50%.
- 🔌 Stable Internet connection (better than Wi-Fi).
- 📶 The distance between the telephone and the bracelet is ≤ 1 meter.
Instructions:
- Open Zepp Life and connect to the bracelet.
- Go to Profile → “Mi Smart Band 4” → “Firmware Update”.
- If the update is available, click Download and wait until it is completed (don’t interrupt the process!).
- After installation, the bracelet will reboot automatically.
⚠️ Warning: If you see a 5001 error during the update (“Failed to update”), follow these steps: Untie the bracelet in Zepp Life. Reset the Mi Band 4 to factory settings (hold the button 20 seconds before the Mi logo appears). Connect again and repeat the update.
💡
If the bracelet firmware is below 1.0.9.54, upgrade it first, and it will solve 80% of the problems with connecting to Samsung.
5.Reset Mi Band 4 before connecting to a new phone
If the bracelet was previously tied to another device (such as an iPhone or another Android), it must be reset, otherwise synchronization with Samsung will not be possible.
Resetting methods:
- 🔄 Through the bracelet menu: On the Mi Band 4 screen, swipe right to "More" (...). Select "Settings" → "Reset." Confirm the action (the bracelet vibrates and reboots).
- 📱 Through the app: Open Zepp Life → Profile → "Mi Smart Band 4." Tap "Untie the device" and confirm.
- 🔧 Hardware reset (if bracelet fails): Connect Mi Band 4 to charge. Hold the button for 30 seconds until the Mi logo appears.
Once reset, the bracelet will be ready for a new binding. Importantly, all data (steps, sleep, workouts) will be deleted, so export it to Google Fit or Apple Health (if you have used it before).
6. Set up notifications and additional functions
By default, Mi Band 4 only shows basic notifications (calls, SMS). To set up notifications from messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram) and social networks, follow the following steps:
On the Zepp Life app:
- Go to Profile → "Mi Smart Band 4" → "Notifications."
- Turn on the “Application Notifications” switch.
- Select the apps you want to see on your bracelet (maximum 10).
- Set up the display style: “Vibration only”, “Text + Vibration” or “Detailed Text”.
On the Samsung phone:
- 🔔 Go to Settings → Notifications → Additional settings.
- 📌 Find Zepp Life and enable permission to display notifications.
- 🔕 Turn off Do Not Disturb for Zepp Life.
💡
To ensure that notifications are displayed correctly, disable battery optimization for instant messengers (such as WhatsApp). To do this, go to Settings → Device Care → Battery → Background work and add apps to the list of allowed ones.
7. Alternative methods of connection (if nothing works)
If the standard methods didn’t work, try one of the alternatives, which are suitable for older Samsung models (such as the Galaxy S7, J5) or custom firmware devices.
7.1 Connection via Notify & Fitness
Notify & Fitness is a third-party app that supports Mi Band 4 without official restrictions, and allows you to bypass Bluetooth issues on Samsung and configure notifications flexibly.
Instructions:
- Install Notify & Fitness from Google Play.
- Open the application and provide all the permissions requested.
- Click on “Plug in the bracelet” and select Mi Band 4 in the list.
- Follow the instructions on the screen (you may need to manually enter the MAC- bracelet address).
7.2.Using Tools & Mi Band
Tools & Mi Band is suitable for power users because it requires manual configuration.
- 🔧 Manually update the firmware (if the automatic update doesn't work).
- 📊 Export data to Google Sheets.
- 🔄 Change notification icons.
You can download it here.
- Connect the bracelet through the standard menu.
- In the Settings section, select Experimental Features and activate Developer Mode.
- For a manual firmware update, download the.fw file from amazfitwatchfaces.com and upload it through the File Manager in the app.
⚠️ Warning: Using third-party apps may result in a loss of warranty on the wristband. Before experimenting, back up your data via Zepp Life.
