Synchronizing Huaweiβs smartwatch with Xiaomiβs phone is a task that may seem trivial at first, but in practice it faces the nuances of the two ecosystemsβ compatibility: Both companies use their own communication protocols and proprietary applications (Huawei Health and Mi Fitness), which create barriers to seamless connectivity. In this article, weβll look at all the working ways of connecting, from standard synchronization via official software to workarounds for older watches or custom firmware phones.
Itβs important to understand that Huaweiβs HarmonyOS 2.0+ watches can limit functionality when connected to Android phones without Google services (e.g. Xiaomi with MIUI for the global market). This applies to notifications, call processing and some fitness metrics. We tested the instructions on Huawei Watch GT 3, Watch Fit 2 and Band 7 models with Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and POCO X5 phones β all options work but require different approaches.
1. Preparing Xiaomi phone for connection
Before syncing, make sure your Xiaomi meets the minimum requirements:
- π± Android version: not lower than 8.0 (for HarmonyOS-hours - 9.0)+). You can check the settings. β The phone. β Android version.
- π Google Services: Installed and Updated (Even if you use Google Services) MIUI without GMS, will require manual installation APK).
- π Battery charge: At least 50% on phone and watches β synchronization process can take up to 10 minutes.
- πΆ Network: stable Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection (for driver downloads).
If your Xiaomi runs MIUI without Google services (for example, the Chinese version of firmware), you will have to manually install Google Play Services and Google Play Store via APK. Download the current versions from the APKMirror site by selecting the processor architecture (arm64 for most modern Xiaomi).
β οΈ Attention: On phones with MIUI 14+ and HarmonyOS watches may experience an error "Can't connect to the device" due to a conflict of Bluetooth protocols.
2.Installation and setup of Huawei Health
Huawei Health is the only legal way to connect a watch to Xiaomi.
- π Google Play (if Google services are installed).
- π₯ From the official website of Huawei (Support section) β Annexes").
- π APKPure or APKMirror (select versions marked "Global").
After installation:
- Open Huawei Health and sign up (can be done via Huawei ID, Google or phone number).
- Click Devices β Add the device and select a model of your watch.
- Follow the instructions on the screen: turn on Bluetooth on your phone and watch, confirm pairing.
If the app doesn't see the clock:
- π Reboot both devices.
- π± Remove the Huawei Health cache in Settings β Annexes β Huawei Health β Memory. β Clear the cache.
- π Try connecting via Bluetooth Settings β Finding new devices manually.

3. Alternative ways of connecting
If Huawei Health refuses to work, try workarounds:
Method 1: Notify & Fitness
This third-party software supports most Huawei models and allows:
- π Get notifications with Xiaomi (SMS, Calls, messengers).
- πββοΈ Synchronize steps, pulse and sleep (without Huaweiβs proprietary algorithms).
- π Display the charge level of the clock.
Download it from Google Play or APKMirror. In the app settings, select the watch model and activate permissions for notifications.
Method 2: Amazfit (for older models)
Some early Huawei watches (such as the Watch GT 1) are supported by the Amazfit app (formerly Mi Fit). The functionality will be limited, but the basic metrics (steps, sleep) will be synchronized.
| Connection method | Supported watch models | Functionality | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Huawei Health | All current models (GT 3/4, Watch Fit 2/3, Band 7/8) | Full synchronization, notifications, payments (if supported) | Requires Google services, possible lags on MIUI |
| Notify & Fitness | Most models (except new ones on HarmonyOS 3+) | Notifications, basic health metrics | No Huawei proprietary algorithms, manual setup |
| Amazfit | Older models (Watch GT 1, Band 3/4) | Steps, sleep, basic activity | Limited functionality, no updates |
β οΈ Warning: When using third-party apps (like Notify & Fitness) disable Huawei Health to avoid sync conflicts. Two apps trying to manage the clock at the same time could cause crashes or battery drains.
4. Solving typical errors
Even with the right setup, there can be problems. Let's look at the most common ones.
Error: "I was unable to connect to the device"
Causes and solutions:
- π Bluetooth Conflict: Disable pairing with other devices in Settings β Bluetooth.
- π΅ Lockdown MIUI: Add Huawei Health to battery optimization exceptions (Settings) β Battery β Optimizing the battery β All applications β Huawei Health β No restrictions).
- π HarmonyOS Restrictions: Go to Settings on the Watch β System system β Reset β Resetting the network.
Error: "The device is not supported"
This error occurs if:
- π± Your Xiaomi is running Android Go or a very outdated version MIUI (below 12.5).
- βοΈ Watches require firmware updates (check in Huawei Health under Device").
- π Regional restrictions: Some Huawei models (e.g. for the Chinese market) block connections to non-Chinese phones. The solution is to change the region to Huawei ID.
How to change the region in Huawei ID?
Problem: Notifications are not coming
If the watch is connected but does not show notifications:
- In Huawei Health, go to Device β Notification Management and turn on all the switches.
- On Xiaomi, in the app settings (such as WhatsApp), allow notifications to be displayed (Settings β Notifications β App Permissions).
- Turn off the "Do Not Disturb" and "Energy Saving" modes on the watch.
π‘
If notifications are duplicated (both on your phone and on your watch), in Huawei Health, turn off the option βRepeat Notificationsβ in your device settings.
5. Configure additional functions
After the successful connection of Configure, additional features:
π Unlocking the phone
To unlock Xiaomi with the help of a watch:
- At Huawei Health, go to Device β Security β Unlock your phone.
- On your phone, activate Settings β Lock screen β Smart Lock β Trust devices and add a watch.
- Do the test: Lock your phone and close the clock β the screen should unlock automatically.
π³ Contactless payments
If your watch supports Huawei Pay:
- Add the card in the Wallet app (download separately if it isn't).
- In Huawei Health, activate the option βPayments from the clockβ (Device) β Payments).
- Set up. PIN-clock-code.
Important: Xiaomi will not work without Google services Huawei Pay β you will need an alternative like Garmin Pay (if supported by the watch model).
πββοΈ Sporting regimes
For accurate tracking of activity:
- In Huawei Health, update your user profile (age, weight, height).
- On the watch, turn on Settings β Sport β Activity Autodetection.
- Sync your data with Google Fit or Apple Health (if you use multiple trackers).
π‘
For maximum pulse accuracy, adjust the wrist clock on your left hand (for right-handers) 1-2 cm above the bone. Tighten the strap, but do not squeeze the blood vessels.
6. Optimization of operation and battery saving
Huawei watches when connected to Xiaomi can run faster due to constant synchronization.
- π Turn off constant pulse monitoring (leave only during sleep/workouts).
- πΆ Reduce notification frequency: In Huawei Health, select βOnly Importantβ instead of βAll Notifications".
- π Activate the sleep mode on the clock (Settings) β Regimes β Sleeping β this turns off background processes.
- π Update the firmware of the watch through Huawei Health (Section "Software Update").
Average operating time on one charge:
| Model clock | Standard regimen | Energy conservation |
|---|---|---|
| Huawei Watch GT 3 | 7-10 days | 14-21 days |
| Huawei Watch Fit 2 | 5-7 days | 10-12 days |
| Huawei Band 7 | 10β14 days | 20-25 days |
β οΈ Note: Xiaomi phones with custom firmware (like LineageOS) may not have fast sync due to the lack of original Bluetooth drivers. In this case, use manual sync in Huawei Health (Device) β Synchronize now).
7. Connection reset and reconnection
If the clock starts to glitch or does not sync, reset:
- On the clock: Settings β System β Reset β Reset all settings.
- On your phone: Remove the device from Huawei Health and from the list of associated Bluetooth devices.
- Reboot both devices.
- Repeat the connection process from scratch (see Section 2).
If the dumping didn't help:
