The Xiaomi Mi Band 6 fitness bracelet has become one of the most popular activity-tracking gadgets due to its price-to-feature ratio. However, even with such a simple device, there may be situations when it needs to be turned off completely β whether to save charge before long-term storage, fix software failures or prepare for sale. Unlike smartphones, where the power button is always at hand, with Xiaomi bracelets, it is not all that obvious.
Many users are struggling to find where to turn off the menu, what to do if the screen does not respond to touch, or why the standard method stopped working after updating the firmware. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of disconnection from basic to alternative, and also explain when to resort to a full reset instead of simply turning off.
Method 1: Turn off through the main menu of the bracelet
The most obvious and recommended way is to use the built-in Mi Band 6 menu, which works on all versions of the firmware and does not require a smartphone connection.
- Wake up the bracelet screen by touching it or pressing a physical button (if you have one in your modification).
- Scroll down the screen until you see the icon. βοΈ Settings (cogs). Press it.
- In the settings menu, find the option βOpt off (or turn off in some localities)β and it is usually located at the bottom of the list.
- Confirm the action by touching the tick or OK button on the screen.
The bracelet will start the shutdown process, which takes about 5-10 seconds, the screen will go out, and the charging indicator (if the cable is connected) will stop flashing. Importantly, if after this action the device continues to vibrate or the screen periodically turns on, then the shutdown was not correct, try alternative methods from the following sections.
Check battery power (less than 5% can block the shutdown)
Reload the bracelet with a 10+ second button hold
Update the firmware through the Mi Fit/Zepp app
Reset the settings to factory (Section 5)
-->
On some firmware, the "Stop" option may not be available, due to regional restrictions or customized versions of the software, in which case use hardware reset (method 3) or application shutdown (method 2).
Method 2: Disconnect via Mi Fit or Zepp
If the bracelet screen is not responsive to touch, or if you prefer to control the device from your smartphone, you can turn off the Mi Band 6 through official applications, which requires that the gadget be paired with a smartphone and have a stable Bluetooth connection.
Instructions for Mi Fit:
- Open the Mi Fit app on your phone.
- Select your bracelet from the device list (usually displayed at the top of the screen).
- Go to the Settings section of the device (cog in the upper right corner).
- Scroll down and find the item Turn off the bracelet or Disable.
- Confirm the action on the smartphone screen.
For the Zepp app (a newer version for Mi Band 6):
- π± Go to Profile. β My devices. β Mi Band 6.
- π§ Slip on the settings icon next to the bracelet name.
- π Select Turn Off in General Settings section.
- β Confirm the command on the phone.
π‘
If the "Stop" option is not in the app, try updating Mi Fit/Zepp to the latest version on Google Play or the App Store. Older versions may not support this feature.
Note that once the app is turned off, the bracelet will not respond to the physical button until it is connected to charging, which is normal behavior associated with energy saving mode. To turn the device back on, connect it to the charging cable for 3-5 seconds.
Method 3: Forced shutdown (hardware reset)
If the bracelet is getting stuck, does not respond to touch, or the screen shows artifacts, a forced reboot may be required. This method is also useful when the standard shutdown through the menu is not available. It is important to understand that the hardware reset does not erase data (as opposed to a factory reset), but interrupts all ongoing processes.
Instructions for forced shutdown:
- Remove the bracelet from your hand and place it on a flat surface with the screen up.
- Find a physical button on the case (usually located below the screen or side).
- Press the button for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes out and the bracelet vibrates three times.
- Release the button. The device will turn off.
If the bracelet continues to work after holding the button, try repeating the procedure by first disconnecting it from the charger (if it was connected). In rare cases, it may be necessary to discharge the battery to 0% so that the device will automatically turn off.
What if the bracelet does not respond to the button holding?
Forced shutdowns should only be used in extreme cases, as they can lead to loss of unsaved data (such as the last pulse measurements or steps). If the bracelet does not turn on after that, plug it into charging for 30-60 minutes.
Method 4: Shutting off through battery discharge
This is a good method if other methods are not available and the bracelet needs to be turned off for transportation or storage, the essence of which is to completely discharge the battery, after which the device will turn off automatically.
| Advantages | Deficiencies |
|---|---|
| No need to click or access the menu | It takes a lot of time (12 to 48 hours) |
| Safe for electronics | Deep discharge can shorten battery life |
| Suitable for "hungry" devices | After switching on, you may need to reconnect the phone |
To speed up the discharge, perform the following actions:
- π Activate all sensors: Turn on constant heart rate monitoring (Settings) β Monitoring of heart rate β Continuously).
- πΆ Enable notifications from all apps (this will increase energy consumption per vibration).
- π¦ Set maximum screen brightness and reduce the time until the display is automatically turned off.
- π« Turn off the power saving mode if it has been activated.
After a full discharge, wait 1-2 hours, then connect the bracelet to the charger. It will turn on automatically. If the device does not respond to charging, try using another cable or USB-port.
Method 5: Completely reset (if turning off doesn't help)
If the Mi Band 6 bracelet doesn't turn off or is behaving in an unstable way (spontaneous reboots, synchronization errors), you may need to reset to factory settings. This procedure removes all data from the device, including pairing with your smartphone, notification settings and activity history. Use it only as a last resort!
Resetting instructions:
- Go to the bracelet menu: Settings β Additional β Reset settings.
- Confirm the action by selecting Yes on the screen.
- Wait for the process to be completed (the bracelet vibrates and reboots).
- Once reset, the device will automatically shut down, and you'll need to re-address it with your smartphone to reuse it.
π‘
Factory reset is not the same as shutting down, it erases all data and returns the bracelet to a boxy state, and only use this method if other methods have not worked or you are preparing the device for sale.
If the bracelet menu is not available, the reset can be done through the Mi Fit app:
- π± Open Profile. β Mi Band 6 β Settings of the device.
- π Select Untie the device (this will result in a reset).
- β οΈ Confirm the removal, after which the bracelet will restart and turn off.
β οΈ Warning: Once reset, the bracelet will lose communication with all previously coupled phones, and to use it again, you will need to re-enter the Bluetooth connection process and adjust notifications, alarms and other settings.
Method 6: Shutting down via firmware (for power users)
In the rare cases where the Mi Band 6 bracelet does not respond to any commands, flashing through a computer can help. This method requires special software and is only suitable for users with experience with the use of the device. ADB-Incorrect actions can result in complete loss of performance of the device!
Common algorithm:
- Download the MiBand6Tools utility from the official repository on GitHub.
- Connect the bracelet to your computer via Bluetooth (you will need an adapter with BLE 4.2+ support).
- Start the command to shut down through the terminal: adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.POWER_OFF
- If the bracelet does not respond, perform a full flashing with the.fw file for your model.
For beginners, we recommend contacting the Xiaomi service center, as self-firmware is fraught with risks. In most cases, problems can be avoided using standard methods from the previous sections.

Frequent mistakes and their solutions
When trying to turn off Mi Band 6, users often face typical problems, and consider the most common ones and how to fix them:
- π Bracelet does not turn off via menu: Check the firmware version (update via Mi Fit) β Profile β Software Update: On versions below 1.0.6.50, there may be no shutdown point.
- π When you turn off the bracelet, it turns on itself: This is related to the Quick Start function. Turn it off in the settings: Settings β System system β Quick launch.
- π± App doesn't see bracelet to turn off: Reboot Bluetooth on phone, then re-patch device. on Android, cleaning up the Mi Fit app's cache will also help.
- β‘ Bracelet doesn't respond to charging after switching off: Try another USB-If the light doesn't light up, it could go into a deep discharge -- wait 10 to 15 minutes.
If none of the tips helped, check the bracelet for physical damage (moisture, falls, bloated battery). In such cases, self-repair is not recommended - contact an authorized service center.
β οΈ Warning: Do not use methods such as putting it in the freezer or disconnecting the battery to turn off the bracelet, which can cause permanent damage to the electronics, and the warranty does not apply to such a device.
