Why You Need to Reset Xiaomi Fitness Bracelet and When to Do It
Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelets (including the 3/4/5/6/7/8 and Smart Band Pro models) can eventually start to malfunction: they do not sync with the phone, show incorrect steps or pulse data, quickly discharge or completely stop responding to touch. In 80% of these cases, a complete reset to factory settings helps - a procedure that deletes all user data and returns the device to its original state.
Resetting the bracelet is required in several situations:
- π Before selling or transferring the device to another person β to delete personal information (sleep history, health data, tied account).
- π After critical errors, such as when the bracelet is not turned on, constantly reboots or does not respond to charging.
- π± When syncing problems with your smartphone (connection errors, lack of notifications, failures in the Mi Fitness or Zepp Life application).
- β‘ After updating the firmware, if it was error-free and the bracelet began to work unstable.
It is important to understand that resetting is not a panacea, and if the problem is related to physical damage (e.g. water entering a leaky model or battery failure), then resetting the settings will not help, and in such cases, repair or replacement of the device is required.
Preparation for resetting: what to do in advance
Before you reset the bracelet, follow a few mandatory steps to avoid losing important data:
- Sync your data with the app. Open Mi Fitness (or Zepp Life for new models) and wait until all the metrics (steps, sleep, heart rate) are uploaded to the cloud, which will take 1 to 5 minutes depending on the amount of information.
- Take screenshots of settings if you use non-standard settings (such as notification order, alarm settings, or exercise regimens) and you have to reset them once you reset them.
- Check the battery power. The level must be at least 30%, otherwise the bracelet may turn off during the procedure, which will lead to software failures.
If you reset the bracelet before selling, untie it from your account in the app settings.
- Open Profile. β My devices.
- Choose your Mi Band.
- Click Untie the device (or Remove in older versions of the app).
