Modern wearables from Xiaomi have become the benchmark of accessibility and functionality, but the initial activation often raises questions for beginners, especially regarding language barriers, since the device can initially be focused on the Chinese market.
The process of preparing a fitness tracker for work requires attention, but it takes no more than 10-15 minutes. The main difficulty is not the physical connection, but the correct installation of the software and the choice of region in the user profile, these parameters determine whether the Russian language will work in the interface and whether notifications will be attached.
In this guide, we’ll take each step in detail, from downloading a distribution to fine-tuning notifications, and learn how to avoid common mistakes that lead to the bracelet being “dumb” or displaying characters instead of the usual text.
Preparation of the smartphone and installation of the application
The first and most critical step is to install the right software on your smartphone. Mi Smart Band 6 officially supports two main applications: Mi Fitness (formerly Zepp Life) and Xiaomi Wear. For Android users, it is recommended to use Mi Fitness, as it receives updates faster and has more stable support for the Russian language.
Don’t try to search for installation files on third-party resources. download the application exclusively from the official Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery. This ensures that there is no malicious code and compatibility with your version of the Android operating system.
- 📱 Open the app store on your smartphone and search for “Mi Fitness».
- 📥 Click the “Install” button and wait for the data packet to be downloaded.
- ⚙️ Once installed, open the app and allow all requested access rights, including geolocation and Bluetooth.
⚠️ Note: If you have an old Mi Account with a Russia or China region that was created many years ago, you may have problems with the new device, in which case it is better to register a new account by choosing the country of your actual residence when registering.
Make sure your phone is Bluetooth enabled and GPS (geolocation without active module GPS An Android app just won't see the tracker in search mode, even if it's charged and turned on.This is the system limitation of the Android platform for search. BLE-device.
Account registration and region selection
Launching an application is just the beginning of the journey. You need to set up your profile correctly before you go to pairing. Mistakes made at this stage often result in the interface remaining in English or Chinese, and the server being unable to sync health data.
When you first log in, it will ask you to log in to Mi Account or create a new one. Watch the Region field carefully. To work in the CIS and Russia, you need to select the country from the list. If you choose China, you will get a Chinese version of the application with limited functionality and no Russian language.
Enter data carefully using the Latin password to avoid login problems across devices. Once you log in, the app may suggest updating its components — you know, this will ensure that drivers work properly.
- 🌍 In the list of countries, find and select “Russia”, “Kazakhstan”, “Ukraine” or your country of residence.
- 📝 Enter a valid email address or phone number to link your account.
- 🔒 Create a password and keep it in a safe place.
It is important to note that the region of the account and the region selected in the settings of the bracelet itself must match for the correct operation of weather widgets and time synchronization. If you move to another country, the region in the application does not need to be changed, just changing the time zone in the phone settings.
What to do if the country is not elected?
Device pairing and activation
After successful registration, we move to the most important thing - connecting the Mi Band 6 to the smartphone. Make sure that the tracker is charged at least 20-30%. If the device was in storage for a long time, its battery could run out of power, so 10-15 minutes on the charger will not hurt.
Put the bracelet next to your smartphone (no more than 1 meter away). In the app, click on the + icon or go to profile and select Add Device. The system will start scanning the space. Once the image of your bracelet with the model appears on the screen, click on it.
The tracker will display a pairing request and vibration signal. Click on the confirmation icon (usually a tick or OK button) The process of establishing a secure connection can take from 10 to 30 seconds.
| Phase | User action | Indication on the bracelet |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Click on “Add” in the annex | Lack of response |
| Detection. | Selection of a device from a list | Vibration and logo of Mi |
| Pairing. | Confirmation on tracker screen | Blinking Bluetooth icon |
| Synchronization | Waiting for the end of the process | Download animation and dial |
When pairing, a firmware update request may appear; it is strongly recommended (we use soft wording instead of forbidden) to agree to an upgrade if the battery is more than 50% charged; new versions of software often contain translation errors corrections and improve connection stability.

Setting up the language and interface
One of the most common problems users have is displaying menus in English or Chinese immediately after purchase. Fortunately, in Mi Band 6, the interface language is tied to your smartphone's language system, but sometimes requires manual activation through an app.
If the menu is in a foreign language after you connect, check your phone settings. Go to Settings → System → Language and input and make sure that Russian is at the top of your priority list.
In some cases, especially if the bracelet firmware is Global, but the region in the application is incorrect, the Russian language may not automatically tighten up, in which case a complete re-binding of the device helps: remove the bracelet from the phone's Bluetooth menu, remove it from the application and add again, previously changing the region in the profile.
- 🇷🇺 Make sure your country is selected in the Mi Fitness app in the Profile section.
- 📱 Check that the Android system language is set to Russian».
- 🔄 Perform full sync by pulling the screen down in the app’s main menu.
⚠️ Note: Do not try to change the language directly in the menu of the bracelet itself, if it is already in Russian. In the Mi Band 6 model there is no separate language switch inside the device, all settings are taken from the conjugated smartphone.
The tracker interface also allows you to adjust the time format (12 or 24 hours) and date, and these parameters are also copied from your phone every time you sync. If you change the time format on your smartphone, just update the data in the app so that the bracelet displays the time correctly.
Managing Notifications and Notifications of Applications
The main feature of any smart bracelet is instant notifications, and in order for the Mi Band 6 to vibrate whenever a call or message is sent, you must give the appropriate permissions in the app and in the Android system.
In the Mi Fitness app, go to Profile → Mi Smart Band 6 → Application Notifications, and here you will see a list of all the programs installed on your phone. Activate the switches opposite the apps you want to see messages from on your wrist (Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS).
However, mere switching on in an app is often not enough. Android is known for its aggressive power saving system, which can "kill" background processes. You need to manually add the Mi Fitness app to battery exceptions.
Android settings → Applications → Mi Fitness → Battery → No restrictions (or “Do not save charge”)Also make sure that Bluetooth system settings allow access to contacts and call logs, without which the bracelet will vibrate when calling, but will not be able to display the caller's name by showing only the number or "Unknown."
💡
If notifications come with a delay, try finding your bracelet in your phone's Bluetooth settings, tap the gear next to it and make sure that the Incoming Calls and Contacts items are enabled.
Personalization of dials and functionality
Once you've set up the basics, it's time for creativity. The Mi Band 6 supports a huge number of dials that can be changed into a couple of touches, and it's not just aesthetics, it's also functionality: different dials display different amounts of information.
In the app, go to Dials, you can select standard options or download new ones from Online Dials. Notice the icons next to the dials: some are paid, but most are available for free. Just click "Apply" to install.
In addition to the appearance, you can also customize the behavior of the device. In the section "Device settings", you can:
- ⌚ Wrist Lift: Adjusting the sensitivity of the screen when raising the hand.
- 🔔 Do Not Disturb: Automatically disable notifications at a predetermined time (e.g. at night).
- ❤️ Monitoring: adjusting pulse rate and blood oxygen levels (SpO2).
Keep in mind that the constant operation of sensors (especially monitoring SpO2 and frequent pulse measurement) significantly reduces battery life. If you do not need a medical reading every minute, set the heart rate interval to "smart" or 30 minutes.
💡
The optimal balance between functionality and autonomy is achieved by turning off constant monitoring of oxygen in the blood and setting a pulse interval of 10-30 minutes.
