Why You Need an Alarm on a Fitness Bracelet and How It Works
Xiaomi fitness bracelets have long ceased to be just pedometers β they have become full-fledged assistants in everyday life. One of the most popular functions is an alarm clock that wakes up not only with sound, but also with vibration, which is especially convenient for those who sleep soundly or do not want to wake up their households. Unlike a smartphone, the bracelet is always on your hand, so the likelihood of sleeping is reduced to a minimum.
Modern models, from Mi Band 3 to Mi Band 8 to Xiaomi Smart Band Pro, support up to 10 simultaneous alarm clocks, repeated on the days of the week, while setting up literally a couple of minutes through the official app. But there are nuances: for example, on the Mi Band 7 Pro, the alarm can be set directly from the bracelet screen, and on older models β only through a smartphone.
In this article, we will discuss all the ways to set up an alarm clock, including scheduling, editing and deleting, and how to solve typical problems, from lack of vibration to synchronization failures. If you just bought a bracelet or have been using it for a long time, but have never tried an alarm clock, this is the guide for you.
What Xiaomi models support the alarm clock
The alarm function is available on almost all Xiaomi fitness bracelets, but the ways you set up and the number of simultaneously active alarm clocks differ.
| Model bracelet | Max. Number of alarm clocks. | Adjustment through the bracelet | Setup through the application | Supported applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Band 3/4 | 5 | β No. | β Yes. | Mi Fit, Zepp Life |
| Mi Band 5/6 | 10 | β No. | β Yes. | Mi Fitness, Zepp Life |
| Mi Band 7 | 10 | β οΈ Partially (only disconnection) | β Yes. | Mi Fitness, Zepp Life |
| Mi Band 7 Pro / 8 | 10 | β Yes (full setup) | β Yes. | Mi Fitness, Zepp Life |
| Xiaomi Smart Band Pro | 10 | β Yes. | β Yes. | Mi Fitness |
Note: on models older than the Mi Band 5, the Mi Fit app is no longer supported, it has been replaced with Mi Fitness (for Europe) and Zepp Life (for China and global versions). If your bracelet doesn't sync, check which app you have installed.
β οΈ Warning: Mi Band 3 and Mi Band 4 are reset when the battery is discharged to 0%. To avoid this, charge the bracelet at least once every 10-12 days.
Preparation before setting the alarm clock
Before you set an alarm clock, make sure your Xiaomi fitness bracelet is ready to go:
- π± Download Mi Fitness (for Europe) or Zepp Life (for global versions) from Google Play or the App Store.
- π Connect the bracelet: Sign up for the app and sync the device via Bluetooth. If the bracelet doesn't find the app, reboot both devices.
- π Charging: Make sure the bracelet battery is at least 20%. On some models, when the charge is low, the alarm clocks turn off automatically.
- β±οΈ Time and date: Check that the bracelet has the current time. If it gets lost, update the firmware through the app.
If you use the Mi Band 7 Pro or Mi Band 8, you can set the alarm right on the bracelet, but you need to activate the function in the application.

Setting up an alarm clock using the Mi Fitness or Zepp Life app
The most reliable way is to use the official app, and the instructions are suitable for all models except the Mi Band 7 Pro and Mi Band 8, which have an alternative method (more on this below).
- Open the Mi Fitness or Zepp Life app and select your bracelet at the top of the screen.
- Go to the Device Profile (Bracelet Icon) β Alarm clock.
- Click Add an alarm clock (the + icon in the upper right corner).
- Set a time, select the days of the week (you can set a repeat on a schedule) and save.
After saving the alarm clock syncs with the bracelet for 10-30 seconds. If this does not happen, reset the bracelet (press the touch button for 10 seconds before the appearance of the Xiaomi logo).
What to do if the alarm clock is not synchronized?
On Mi Band 6 and later, you can set the vibration separately for each alarm clock.
- In the alarm list, click on the right one.
- Activate Vibration and select intensity (some models have vibration patterns available).
β οΈ Warning: On iPhone, alarm clocks can sync longer due to iOS restrictions. If the alarm doesn't appear on the bracelet after a minute, close the app and open it again.
Setting the alarm clock right on the bracelet (for Mi Band 7 Pro and Mi Band 8)
Xiaomi's new models allow you to control alarm clocks without a smartphone, which is convenient if you forget your phone at home or it's dead.
- Swipe up the bracelet screen to open the main menu.
- Find the Alarm clock icon (clock with a bell) and click on it.
- Choose Add and set the time using touch buttons.
- Click Ready, then select Repetition Days (e.g., Pn-Pt for weekdays).
- Keep your alarm clock on, it will be activated immediately.
On the Mi Band 8, you can adjust up to 3 different alarm melodies (vibration + sound through the bracelet speaker) if you connect the headphones via Bluetooth. This feature is only available on firmware versions 1.15.0 and higher.
To turn off or remove the alarm directly on the bracelet:
- π Go to the alarm clock menu, select the desired one and swipe to the left.
- ποΈ Click on the Remove Cart icon or the switch for temporary shutdown.
π‘
If the alarm clock on the bracelet goes off too soon or later, check the time zone in your smartphone settings. The bracelet takes time from there, rather than determining it yourself.
Common problems and their solution
Even when set right, the alarm clock may not work, and here are the typical reasons and ways to fix them:
1. The alarm clock doesn't vibrate
- π Check if the mode is not turned off Do not disturb on the bracelet (Settings menu) β Don't disturb).
- π Make sure the battery is at least 15% charged β when the charge is low, the vibration is turned off.
- π Reset the bracelet (press the button for 10 seconds).
2.The alarm clock is not working in time
- β° Sync time on your bracelet and smartphone (enable automatic sync in your phone settings).
- π Check your time zone β if it goes off, the alarm clock may ring an hour earlier or later.
- π² Update the bracelet firmware through the app.
3.Alarm clock missing after update
Sometimes, when you update the firmware, you reset your settings.
- Remove all alarm clocks in the app.
- Reset the bracelet.
- Recreate the alarm clocks.
β οΈ Note: On Mi Band 5 and older, alarm clocks may be duplicated after resetting. To avoid this, remove all alarm clocks through the app before resetting.
Additional features: smart alarm clock and reminders
In addition to standard alarm clocks, Xiaomi fitness bracelets support:
- π΄ Smart alarm: Awakens in light sleep 30 minutes before the set time. β Son β Smart alarm clock.
- π Medication reminders: You can set an alarm clock marked βMedicineβ (available on Zepp Life).
- π Reminders of inactivity: Vibration every 45β60 minutes without movement (configured in Profile) β Reminders).
- π Sunrise alarm clock: On Mi Band 8, you can set your alarm clock to the time of sunrise in your region (requires geolocation enabled).
To activate a smart alarm clock, you need:
- Enable sleep tracking in the bracelet settings.
- Set the main alarm (for example, at 7:00).
- Activate the Smart Alarm in the Sleep section.
On the Mi Band 7 Pro, the smart alarm clock works more accurately thanks to improved sleep sensors, but you need to sleep with a bracelet for at least 4 hours in a row.
π‘
A smart alarm clock reduces the likelihood of a broken state after waking up, but it requires regular sleep tracking (at least 3 nights a week).
Alarm clocks comparison on Xiaomi and other brands
If you choose between fitness bracelets from different manufacturers, note the differences in the functionality of alarm clocks:
| Function | Xiaomi (Mi Band) | Huawei (Band) | Honor (Band) | Amazfit (Bip) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Max. Number of alarm clocks. | 10 | 8 | 6 | 10 |
| Setting up on the bracelet | β (Mi Band 7 Pro) | β Only through the app | β Only through the app | β (all-model) |
| Smart alarm clock (by sleep phases) | β | β | β | β |
| Vibration + sound | β (on the Mi Band 8) | β | β Just vibration. | β |
| Reminders of inactivity | β | β | β | β |
Xiaomi has the advantage of adjusting the alarm clock directly on the bracelet (on new models) and a large number of simultaneously active alarm clocks. However, Huawei and Amazfit have better implemented synchronization with the smartphone β alarm clocks are updated instantly.
