Losing one Xiaomi wireless headphone is a tantalizingly familiar situation: it either fell behind the couch, or stayed in the pocket of the jacket, or it was accidentally carried away by a cat. TWS-Headphones are hard to detect with the naked eye, especially if they are turned off or discharged, but don't rush to buy a new set: in 90% of cases, the device is within a radius of 10 meters from you, and the manufacturer has provided several ways to track it.
This article provides proven search methods, from basic (call through the app) to non-obvious (use Bluetooth). LE-We looked at the features of different models, from the budget Redmi Buds to the flagship Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro, and also when the headphone does not emit sounds and is not determined by the system. If you have already scanned all your pockets and looked under the bed, read on.
1.Standard search through the Mi Home app or Xiaomi Wear
The first and most obvious step is to use official software. Most Xiaomi models (including AirDots, Buds, and FlipBuds) support Find Device in proprietary applications.
- π± Open Mi Home or Xiaomi Wear (depending on the headphone model). If the app is not available, download from Google Play or the App Store.
- π In the list of devices, select your headphones (for example, Redmi Buds 4 Pro or Xiaomi Air 2). SE).
- π΅ Press the Find button (or Find Device in English) and the earphone will start to emit a loud beep (if the battery is above 5%).
- π If the model supports Bluetooth 5.0+, the application will show an approximate distance to the device (e.g., "close" or "far away").
β οΈ Attention: This function only works if the earphone is on and in range of Bluetooth (usually up to 10 meters without obstacles). If the battery is discharged or the earphone is manually turned off, the sound will not sound.

2. Search through Bluetooth Connection History (Hidden Android feature)
Few people know, but Android logs all the Bluetooth devices your smartphone has connected to, and it helps you determine where the earbud was last active -- for example, if it went off in another room.
- Open Settings β Connected devices β Bluetooth.
- Find your headphones (for example, Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2) and tap the gear settings.
- Select Additional β Connection History (on some firmwares, the path may differ: Settings β System β Logs).
- Look at the last connection time and signal strength (in decibels). The higher the RSSI (e.g. -40 dB vs. -80 dB), the closer the headphone was.
π‘ If you can see in history that the headphone went off 2 hours ago in the bathroom and then didn't connect - with a high probability it stayed there.

3.Using third-party apps to search over Bluetooth
If standard methods don't work, try specialized utilities. They scan Bluetooth. LE-signals and build an intensity map, which helps localize the earphone even through walls:
- π Bluetooth Scanner (Android) - shows MAC-Device address and signal level in real time. Suitable for Xiaomi models with Qualcomm chips QCC3040 (For example, Redmi Buds 3 Pro).
- π‘ Wunderfind (iOS/Android) β It visualizes the strength of the signal on the graph, and it's useful if the earphone is in the couch or behind the closet.
How to use:
- Install one of the apps and give you access to location and Bluetooth.
- Start scanning. Move around the room slowly, and the app will show you how the signal level changes.
- When the indicator turns green (or the RSSI is above -60 dB), you're close to the earpiece. Check the floor, the space under the furniture and the pockets of the clothes.

4. Manual audio search (if the earphone is on but not visible in the app)
Sometimes the headphone doesn't show up in the Mi Home, but it stays connected to the phone at the system level, so you can make it sound through your Android or iOS settings.
For Android:
- Open Settings β Connected devices β Bluetooth.
- Find your headphones in the list and tap them.
- Choose to turn off, then reconnect. Sometimes this will trigger an audible signal.
- If it doesn't work, try Forget the device, then search for new devices. The earpiece should make the connection sound.
For the iPhone:
- Go to Settings β Bluetooth.
- Find the headphones in the list and tap the "i" icon next to the name.
- Choose Forget this device, then reconnect. On Xiaomi, this is often accompanied by an audible beep.
β οΈ Note: If the earphone is discharged or manually turned off, this method will not work. In this case, proceed to a physical search (see section 6).
π‘
If the earpiece makes a quiet sound, but you can't localize it, take a glass, put it on the bottom of your ear, and slowly drive it along the walls and furniture, and it's going to be amplified by the resonance.
5. Checking the "dead zones" in the apartment: where to look first
Statistically, 70 percent of lost headphones are in 5 typical locations. Go through this checklist before using sophisticated methods:
- ποΈ Sofa and chairs: Check the space between the pillows, under the seats and behind the back. The earpiece could have fallen into the gap when standing up.
- π Clothing: All pockets of jackets, jeans, pajamas -- even those things that hang in the closet. Headphones often fall out when changing.
- πΏ Bathroom: Towels, laundry basket, space behind the washing machine. Humidity is not terrible for most Xiaomi models (they have a protection class). IPX4 higher).
- π± "Cat trails: If you have pets at home, check their couches, bowls and favorite corners. Cats often carry small objects.
- π Backpacks and bags: The bottom of the main compartment, side pockets, laptop compartment, headphones could roll in there during transportation.
- π¦ Garbage bin: Especially if it's under a desk or in a work area. Before you get in, put the garbage in the bag.
Professional life hack: Take a flashlight and inspect the floor along the boards. Xiaomi headphones (especially AirDots models) have a glossy surface and reflect light well.
π‘
If you lose your earphone after cleaning, check the vacuum cleaner! Unplug it, open the garbage container, and gently sort through the contents. In 15 percent of cases, the headphones are there intact.
6.What to do if the earphone is turned off or discharged
The most difficult scenario is when the earphone is not making sounds and is not detected by Bluetooth, and this will help with a combination of physical search and technical tricks:
- π Charging case: Put the second (found) earphone in the case and close the lid. In 10-15 seconds, check if the lost one appears in the list of connected devices. Some Xiaomi models automatically sync when charging.
- π¦ Thermal imager (unexpectedly useful!): If you have an infrared thermometer or a thermal imaging camera at home (like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone), walk around the room. The earpiece, even when turned off, will be a little warmer than the surroundings (if youβve recently lost it).
- 𧲠Magnet: Take a strong neodymium magnet (from a speaker or hard drive, for example) and drive it over the floor. Xiaomi headphones contain metal elements that can attract. Be careful - don't bring the magnet to device screens!
π Extreme method: If the headphone is lost in the carpet or sofa, use a vacuum cleaner with a furniture nozzle. Put a thin stocking or a capron sock on the pipe - this will prevent the earphone from entering the garbage container, but will allow it to "pull" the flow of air.
How to check if the found headphone is broken
7 If nothing worked: The Last Hope
When all methods are exhausted, there are two options:
- Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Buds 3 Lite or Xiaomi Air 2 SE) are sold piece by piece on AliExpress or in service centers. Cost from 500 to 1500 rubles.
- If the headphone is guaranteed, Xiaomi can offer a replacement under the loyalty program, you need a check and a case from the headphones: mi.com/ru/service.
π‘ Tip for the future: To avoid losses, set up connection break notifications in Mi Home:
- Open the app and select your headphones.
- Go to the device settings β Notifications.
- Activate the Warn option if you lose communication.
Now the phone will vibrate if the headphone goes off at a distance of more than 5 meters.
