The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 fitness bracelet remains one of the most popular gadgets for tracking activity, despite the release of new models. Many users face the problem: after buying or resetting the bracelet suddenly begins to display menus in an unknown language - Chinese, English or even Arabic. In this article, we will analyze all possible ways to change the language, including hidden settings and solutions for cases when Russian disappears from the list of available languages.
It's important to understand that the Mi Band 4 doesn't support language change directly through the bracelet menu -- you'll have to do all the setup through a conjugated mobile app. But even here, there's a nuance: depending on the firmware version and the region of the device, the algorithm may differ, and we tested all the methods on current versions of the software (2026) and put them together into a single instruction with newcomers' explanations.
Preparation: What to do before changing the language
Before you start changing your language, make sure that the basic conditions are met:
- ๐ฑ The official app is Mi Fit (for older versions of the bracelet) or Zepp Life (recommended for new firmware). Download it from Google Play or the App Store.
- ๐ The bracelet is paired to your smartphone via Bluetooth. If you lose communication, reconnect the device manually.
- ๐ Updated firmware bracelet: Outdated versions of software may not support multitasking or contain language display errors.
- ๐ Xiaomiโs account region is set to Russia or Global. Chinese accounts (China Mainland) restrict language choices.
If you bought the bracelet on AliExpress or other Chinese sites, there is a high probability that the default firmware for the domestic Chinese market is installed, in which case Russian may not be on the list, and we will discuss the solution to this problem in a separate section.
โ ๏ธ Note: If the bracelet was previously linked to another Xiaomi account, reset to factory settings via Bracelet Settings โ Reset in the application. Otherwise, the new language settings will not apply.
Method 1: Change the language through the Zepp Life app (recommended)
The Zepp Life app (formerly Mi Fit) is Xiaomi's official wristband management tool. The interface is intuitive, but the path to language settings isn't always obvious.
- Open Zepp Life and make sure the bracelet is connected (the Bluetooth indicator in the upper right corner should be green).
- Go to the Profile tab (the icon of the person at the bottom of the screen).
- Select your Mi Band 4 from the list of devices.
- Slap the icon. โ๏ธ Settings of the device.
- Scroll down to Language and Region (or Language & Region in English).
- In the list of available languages, find Russian and confirm your choice.
Once you have set up the bracelet will reboot automatically. If Russian is not on the list, move on to the next method.

Method 2: Change the region of the Xiaomi account (if there is no Russian language)
One of the common reasons for the lack of Russian is the bracelet's link to the Chinese region, which is true for devices purchased on AliExpress, Gearbest or in Chinese official stores, the solution is to change the region of the account:
- Open Zepp Life and go to Profile โ Account Settings.
- Select the Region (Region).
- Look for Russia or Global (not China Mainland!).
- Confirm the change. The app can request a re-entry to the account.
- After changing the region, go back to the bracelet settings and check the list of languages - Russian should appear.
If after the change of the region, the Russian language is still absent, this means that the bracelet has Chinese firmware installed (CN-In this case, you will need to force the software update through third-party tools (see section 5).
What if the region does not change?
Method 3: Resetting the bracelet to factory settings
If previous methods didn't work, try a full reset of the Mi Band 4.This will delete all data from the bracelet, but often solves problems with language packs.
- In the Zepp Life app, go to Profile โ Your Device โ Settings.
- Scroll down and select Untie the device (Unpair).
- Confirm the junction, the bracelet will be reset to factory settings.
- Charge the bracelet to 50% and re-pair it with your phone via Zepp Life.
- When you first set up, select Russian as the interface language.
If the bracelet shows the menu in Chinese again after reset, this confirms the presence of the bracelet. CN-In this case, move to method 4 or 5.
โ ๏ธ Warning: Reset removes all the steps, sleep and workout data stored on the bracelet, and pre-sync it with the app if possible.
Method 4: Manually installing a language packet via Mi Fit (for older versions)
If you're using an outdated version of the Mi Fit app (before 2022), the language change algorithm may be different.
- Open Mi Fit and go to the Profile tab.
- Select your Mi Band 4 from the list of devices.
- Put three points on it. โฎ in the upper right corner and select Device Settings.
- Find the Display Language (Display Language)
- If Russian is not on the list, scroll down and select Add Language.
- Download the Russian language package (you will need an Internet connection).
In some versions of Mi Fit, language packs are automatically downloaded when you first connect the bracelet, and if this process is stalled, restart the application and try again.
๐ก
If the Mi Fit app is not updated on Google Play, download the latest version of the APK from the official mi-fit.com site ("Download" section). Make sure that the phone settings allow installation from unknown sources.
Method 5: Forced firmware updates for CN-bracelet
If your Mi Band 4 is originally designed for the Chinese market (as indicated by the CN label on the box or in the settings), standard language change techniques will not work. You will need to flash the bracelet with a global version of the software. It is a risky procedure, but when done correctly it is safe.
You'll need:
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Windows computer 10/11 macOS.
- ๐ Cable for charging the bracelet (it is also used for firmware).
- ๐ Global Stable for Mi Band 4 (download on the forum) XDA Developers).
- ๐ ๏ธ Mi Band 4 Tools or Gadgetbridge for firmware.
Step-by-step:
- Download the firmware archive and unpack it. You need a file with the.fw extension.
- Connect the bracelet to your computer via a charging cable. Make sure it is defined by the system (a new one should appear). COM-port).
- Start the Mi Band 4 Tools utility and select the Flash Firmware option.
- Specify the path to the firmware file and wait for the process to be completed (the bracelet will reboot several times).
- After the firmware, pair the bracelet with your phone again through Zepp Life.
| Firmware version | Supported languages | Features |
|---|---|---|
| CN Stable | Chinese, English | No Russian, limited functionality for global users |
| Global Stable | Russian, English, German, French, etc. | Full support for all functions, regular updates |
| EU Stable | European languages + Russian | Optimized for the European market, may not be Chinese |
โ ๏ธ Warning: Continuous interruption of the firmware process can lead to "bricking" of the bracelet (completely inoperable). Use only stable firmware versions from proven sources. If the bracelet stopped responding to charging after firmware, try holding the sensor button for 20 seconds for a forced reboot.
Problem Solving: Frequent Errors and Corrections
Even when following instructions, users have difficulties, and we've collected errors and ways to fix them:
- ๐ The language changed, but partly stayed Chinese: This means not all language packs loaded.Reset the bracelet (hold the sensor for 10 seconds) and repeat sync with the app.
- ๐ต The bracelet doesnโt connect to the app after reset: Remove it from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone, restart Zepp Life, and pair it again.
- ๐ Firmware is cut by 50%: Check the cable, it should fit tightly to the bracelet contacts. Try another one. USB-port or turn off energy saving mode on PC.
- ๐ Zepp Life doesnโt have language and region: Update to the latest version or use Mi Fit (for old bracelets).
If none of these methods worked, check the hardware version of your bracelet, and the box or the settings (About) should be marked:
- XMSH08HM - global version (supported by Russian).
- XMSH07HM is a Chinese version (requires firmware).
For XMSH07HM, language change is not possible without firmware.

If the bracelet is purchased in Russia or Europe, but there is no Russian language, first try to change the region of the account to Russia in Zepp Life.
