Xiaomi's wireless headphones are some of the most popular on the market, thanks to their price-performance ratio, but even with these devices, users have trouble connecting via Bluetooth, the phone can't see the headphones, the connection is constantly interrupted, the sound is interrupted, and the reasons can range from a trivial battery drain to a firmware failure.
If your Xiaomi AirDots, Redmi Buds, FlipBuds or other model refuses to connect to your smartphone, don’t rush to bring them to the service center. In 90% of cases, you can solve the problem yourself in 5-10 minutes. In this article, we will analyze all possible causes and give step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting. Start with the simplest ways and gradually move on to more complex ones.
1. Check the basic settings: charging, on, visibility
Before digging deep into Bluetooth settings, make sure the problem isn't the basics. Often users forget the obvious:
- 🔋 Charge headphones and case. If the indicator on the case does not burn or flashes red, the headphones are discharged. Connect the case to charge for 10-15 minutes and try again. Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 and new models require at least 20% charge for stable connection.
- 🎧 Turn on your headphones. Take them out of the case, they should automatically turn on (white or blue light flashes). If not, press and hold the button on the case or headphones for 3-5 seconds until you hear the beep.
- 📱 Bluetooth on your phone. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled in the notification curtain or in the settings (Settings) → Connections → Some Xiaomi smartphones have a bug: after the update MIUI module shuts down on its own.
If the headphones are on, but the phone can’t see them, try force-activating the pairing mode:
- Put the headphones back in the case.
- Close the lid and wait 10 seconds.
- Pull them out and hold the button on the case for 10-15 seconds until the indicator starts flashing red and white (pairing mode).
⚠️ Attention: On Xiaomi Buds models 3/4 and FlipBuds Pro to reset pairing you need to press the button on the right headphone 4 once in a row, not on a case.
2.Reboot the headphones and phone
Bluetooth malfunctions are often solved by a simple reboot. Start with the headphones:
- 🔄 Reset your headphones: Put both earphones in the case. Close the lid and wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, the headphones will reset automatically.
- 📱 Reboot phone: Press the power button and select Reboot. on Xiaomi with MIUI 14+ You may need to hold the 10 seconds button if the system is getting stuck.
- 📵 Check the permissions settings: Open the settings → Annexes → App management. Find Mi Home or Xiaomi Earbuds. Enable Bluetooth permissions, Location and Auto Run.
