Why is Mi Band 4 getting lost and how to fix it?
The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 fitness bracelet is one of the most popular wearables due to its combination of functionality and affordable price. However, many users face a problem: the time on the wristband screen does not match the real one or gets lost after a reboot. The reasons can be different from the banal lack of synchronization with the phone to firmware failures.
In this article, we will look at all the possible ways to adjust the time on the Mi Band 4: through the official Mi Fit app (now Zepp Life), manually, and also consider what to do if the bracelet persistently shows the wrong time despite all efforts.
It is important to understand that the Mi Band 4 does not have its own. GPS-It's completely dependent on the data of the smartphone, which means that any problems with the time on the bracelet are almost always related to either the settings of the phone or the quality of communication between devices. But don't worry, 95% of the time the problem is solved in 5 minutes!
Method 1: Automatic synchronization via the Zepp Life app (formerly Mi Fit)
The easiest and most recommended method is to synchronize time through the official app, and here's how to do it correctly:
- Install the app: ๐ฑ Download Zepp Life (from Google Play for Android, from the App Store for iOS) and older versions of Mi Fit are still working, but may not support new features.
- Put the bracelet on: ๐ Launch the app, sign up (or log in to Xiaomi account) and add the device through Profile โ Add the device โ Mi Smart Band 4.
- Turn on automatic synchronization: โ๏ธ Go to Profile. โ Mi Smart Band 4 โ Settings of the device โ Synchronize time and activate the option.
After that, the bracelet should automatically pull up the time from the phone each time you connect. If this does not happen, try:
- ๐ Reset the bracelet (press the touch button for 10 seconds until vibration appears).
- ๐ถ Reconnect the bracelet in the application (profile) โ Mi Smart Band 4 โ Disable the device, then add again).
- ๐ฑ Check the time settings on your smartphone: go to Settings โ System system โ Date and time and enable automatic date and time determination.
๐ก
If the time on the bracelet differs by a few minutes after synchronization, check the time zone in the phone settings. Sometimes smartphones misidentify the belt when roaming or after flights.
Method 2: Manual time setting (if automatic synchronization is not working)
If the bracelet doesn't sync with the phone, you can try setting the time manually.Unfortunately, the Mi Band 4 doesn't have a direct interface for that, but there's a workaround through the developer's hidden menu.
Warning: This method requires care, as unofficial settings can cause crashes!
- Activate the Developer Mode: ๐ง In the Zepp Life app, go to Profile โ Mi Smart Band 4 โ About the device and tap 5 times on the firmware version line until the notification Developer Mode is enabled.
- Set the time manually: โฐ Return to the main bracelet menu, swipe up the screen to open Additional, then select Settings. โ Time and date. You can manually set the hours, minutes and date.
What if the Time and Date menu is missing?
Important: manual timing will reset the next time you sync with your phone if the automatic mode is on, and to avoid this, turn off automatic sync in the app settings.
Method 3: Synchronize through third-party apps (for advanced users)
If the official Zepp Life app is unstable, you can use alternative utilities.
- ๐น Notify & Fitness for Mi Band (Android) โ Supports advanced settings, including forced time synchronization.
- ๐น Mi Bandage โ allows you to manually send a time synchronization command to the bracelet.
- ๐น Tools & Mi Band โ has a feature called โFix time syncโ to fix persistent failures.
Instructions for Notify & Fitness:
- Install the application and provide all necessary permissions.
- Connect the bracelet through Devices โ Add Mi Band 4.
- Go to Settings โ Synchronization โ Forced time synchronization.
- Press Sync now.
Warning: Third-party apps may conflict with official software. If the bracelet starts to work unstable after using them, reset it to factory settings (Settings โ Reset in the bracelet menu).
Method 4: Update firmware to correct time errors
If the time on the Mi Band 4 is regularly lost, the problem may be in outdated firmware. Xiaomi periodically releases updates that fix synchronization bugs.
- Check the current version: ๐ In the Zepp Life app, go to Profile โ Mi Smart Band 4 โ About the device โ Firmware version.
- Update the firmware: ๐ If a new version is available, an Update button will appear. Press it and wait until the process is complete (the bracelet will restart).
The latest stable firmware versions for Mi Band 4:
| Firmware version | Release date | Changes in changes |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0.9.58 | March 2023 | Fixed time synchronization errors when changing time zones |
| 1.0.9.44 | October 2022 | Improved communication stability with Android 12+ |
| 1.0.8.12 | June 2021 | Added support for manual time setting |
๐ก
If your firmware version is older than 1.0.8.12, upgrade it as a must โ this will solve most of the problems with time.
โ ๏ธ Warning: Do not interrupt the firmware update process! If the bracelet freezes during the installation phase, a complete reset through the bootloader may be required (instructions in the section "What to do if nothing helps").
Method 5: Reset the bracelet to factory settings (last resort)
If none of the methods worked, the last option is to reset the device, which will remove all the data from the bracelet (steps, alarm clock settings, etc.), but often resolves system errors.
How to Reset Mi Band 4:
- ๐ On the bracelet itself, go to the additional โ Settings โ Reset.
- ๐ฑ Or in the Zepp Life app: Profile โ Mi Smart Band 4 โ Disable the device โ Remove, then add the bracelet again.
After discharge:
Update the firmware to the latest version|
Synchronize time manually through the app |
Set up a time zone on your smartphone |
Reconnect the bracelet from scratch
-->
โ ๏ธ Note: If the bracelet stops turning on after reset or shows a white screen, this may indicate firmware damage. In this case, you will need to flash it through the Mi Fit Tool (instructions are available on the forums). 4PDA or XDA Developers).
What to do if nothing works? Diagnostics of hardware problems
If the time on the Mi Band 4 is lost even after the firmware is reset and updated, the problem may be hardware.
- ๐ Weak battery: If the charge is below 10%, the bracelet can reset.Try to charge it to 100% and check the stability of the time.
- ๐ก Bad contact between the module and the strap: if the bracelet fell or got wet, the contacts could oxidize.
- ๐ฐ๏ธ The quartz resonator malfunctions: it's the heart of the wristband clockwork. If it takes hours a day, the device needs to be replaced.
For diagnosis:
- Check if time is lost when Bluetooth is turned off (if so, there is a problem in the hardware).
- Connect the bracelet to another smartphone โ if the error repeats, the Mi Band 4 itself is to blame.
