Xiaomi Redmi AirDots: how to connect to your phone and PC

Buying Xiaomi’s wireless headphones is often the first step in the world. TWS-Audio, and the Redmi AirDots model (including the Basic and S versions) remains one of the most popular budget solutions. The device does not appear in the list of available Bluetooth gadgets immediately, requiring a specific sequence of actions to activate the pairing mode. Understanding the logic behind these headphones is critical, as the standard “on and use” approach doesn’t always work here, especially when you’re first set up or after you’re reset.

The main challenge is that the headphones need to sync with each other before becoming visible to your smartphone. If you skip this step or break the order of extraction from the charging case, gadgets can work independently, playing sound in only one ear or creating an echo. In this guide, we will discuss in detail the process of proper initialization, how to connect to different operating systems and methods for eliminating common errors that can occur during operation.

To start, make sure your Redmi AirDots are fully charged, as low power levels can prevent the Bluetooth module from running smoothly.The indicators on the case must burn red while charging and fade or change color when fully charged, which is the first step to a successful setup. Next, we move on to the direct mating process, which requires carefulness and compliance with timings.

Preparation of headphones for the first pairing

Before you try to find a device in your phone settings, you need to properly activate the search mode. Unlike many competitors, Xiaomi Redmi AirDots does not have a separate on-chip button on the headphone case or case — all control is tied to the touch panels and automatically activate when you remove. First, remove both earphones from the charging case at the same time. If you take them out in turns, they may not “see” each other, and the right earphone (which is a master device) will not transmit a signal to the left.

Owners of Android devices, especially Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones, have the advantage of an optimized connection protocol. When the headphones are in fast white flashing (search mode), unlock your smartphone and go to the settings menu. Apple's ecosystem also supports the standard Bluetooth protocols used in Redmi AirDots, but the initial pairing process can have its nuances. As with Android, make sure the headphones are synchronized (right flashes white, left is not active or flashes slowly). Open your iPhone or iPad settings and select the Bluetooth partition.

In the list of "Other devices" find Mi True Wireless EBs Basic. Clicking on the name will start the connection process. iOS can request permission to use the microphone and notifications - be sure to agree if you want to use the headset for calls. Once successfully connected, the status will change to "Connected", and the charge level of each headphone will be displayed in the widget "Batteries" or on the lock screen if you install an additional utility.

Note that iOS doesn’t have the automatic customization pop-up that AirPods does, as it’s a proprietary Apple chip. However, after initial pairing, automatic reconnection works flawlessly: just remove the headphones from the case and they’ll plug into the last device they’ve used. To improve the audio quality of your Bluetooth settings (clicking on an “i” next to the device), you can experiment with the type of codec if your version allows you to manage this setting.

Compatibility with computer and laptop (Windows/macOS)

Using Redmi AirDots from a PC allows you to get rid of the wires on your desktop, but requires manually activating the search mode every time you change your device. Problem Solving: Only one headphone works

To perform the reset, place both earbuds in a charging case. Make sure they charge (red lights burn).
