Xiaomi’s robot vacuum cleaners have gained popularity thanks to a combination of affordable pricing and advanced features: laser navigation, wet cleaning, and smart home integration. However, many users face the problem of having the device speak Chinese or English after purchase, and the menu in the Mi Home app is displayed in an incomprehensible language, a problem that is especially relevant for models brought from abroad or bought at international venues like AliExpress.
In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to change the language to Russian, from basic settings in the application to firmware alternative software. Note: the procedure differs depending on the model (Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro, Dreame D9, Viomi V3) and the firmware version. If your vacuum cleaner is released after 2023, most likely, the Russian language is already preinstalled, but hidden in the settings.
Before you start, check your device's firmware version. Open the Mi Home app, select a vacuum cleaner, go to Settings → About device → Firmware version. If the version is older than 2022, an update may be required.
Change the language through the Mi Home app (official method)
The easiest way to change the language directly in the proprietary application, which works for most modern models (Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P, Dreame Z10 Pro, Viomi SE), but requires the latest version of the Mi Home (at least 6.0).

2.Region change to Mi Home (for hidden languages)
Some models (Mi Robot Vacuum 1S, Dreame F9) have Russian in the firmware, but it does not appear in the settings due to regional restrictions.
Step-by-step:
- Open Mi Home and tap on the profile avatar in the upper right corner.
- Select your account settings → Region.
- Change the region to Russia or Ukraine (if Russia is not available).
- Save the changes and restart the application.
- Return to the vacuum cleaner settings - the item "Device language" should appear.
If the Russian language never appeared after the change of region, try to log out and re-enter. Sometimes the app cache blocks the update of the settings.

3. Resetting the vacuum cleaner to factory settings
If previous methods didn't work, do a hard reset, which will delete all user settings, but often helps unlock hidden languages.

After discharge:
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to the Mi Home again (as in the first run).
- At the setup stage, select the region of Russia.
- Check the presence of Russian in the menu of the device.
⚠️ Attention: Reset removes stored maps of the premises and cleaning schedules. If you have a zoned cleaning setup, you will have to do it again. LDS-The scanner (Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P) may need to recalibrate after resetting.
4. Firmware alternative software (Valetudo, OpenMiHome)
If the official methods don't work, the radical way is to install custom firmware, which is a risky process, but it gives you complete control of the device, including changing the language.

If you don't want to risk firmware, you can use modified versions of the apps, which allow you to control the vacuum cleaner in Russian, even if the device itself speaks a different language.

If all the attempts to change the language failed, the official way is to call for support, which is true for new models (Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Ultra, DreameBot X30), where the language is blocked at the firmware level.
How to properly make a request:
- 📧 Write in English or Chinese (use Google Translate).
- 📸 Attach a photo or video of the problem (menu in incomprehensible language).
- 📄 Specify: Vacuum model (written on the bottom); Firmware version (Settings) → About the device; Region of purchase (if imported from abroad).
