The control panel is one of the key elements of the MIUI and HyperOS interface, and its failure often indicates deeper system errors than just an accidental glitch. Device owners may face a situation where the top-down swipe simply does not respond or the screen remains static, ignoring any touches in the upper zone.

The reasons for this behavior can range from the banal freeze of the SystemUI process to the conflicts of newly installed applications. The system interface is responsible for rendering all visual elements, and if it stops correctly processing gestures, the curtain is blocked. It is important not to panic and to consistently identify possible sources of malfunction, starting with simple software solutions.

In this article, we will take a look at all the possible recovery methods, learn how to restart services, check the settings of special features, and even resort to more radical but effective reset methods. 90% of the time, the problem is solved by restarting the SystemUI process through the debugging menu or Safe Mode.

Primary diagnosis and simple solutions

Before you get to the tricky part, you need to eliminate the basic malfunctions of the operating system. Often Android just forgets to draw the interface after a failed update or power surge. First, perform a complete reboot of the device by holding the power button, this action clears the RAM and forcibly restarts all system processes, including the one responsible for the curtain.

If a normal reboot didn’t work, try checking to see if Do Not Disturb or Game Mode is activated, which can block pop-ups. It’s also worth making sure the screen isn’t physically damaged at the top, as the touchscreen may not recognize touches in the swipe area.

Sometimes the problem is a crowded launcher cache or system services. Cache cleaning doesn't delete your personal data, but it can fix the errors of accumulated debris. To do this, go to the storage settings and find the partition with system applications.
