Important: The feature uses an internet connection to download new wallpaper from the Xiaomi cloud. If you turn off mobile data or Wi-Fi, the carousel will stop updating, but will cycle through images already uploaded.

Activation of the function takes no more than 2-3 minutes.

  1. Open the Topic app (an icon with a brush and palette). If it is not on your desktop, search the system (swipe down the screen → type "Themes").
  2. Go to the Wallpaper tab (bottom of the screen).
  3. Select the Wallpaper Carousel section or Dynamic Wallpaper section (the name may vary depending on the MIUI version).
  4. Slip on the button Enable the carousel (or switch the slider to the "On" position).
  5. Set up the parameters: 🕒 Shift interval: from 1 hour to 1 week. 📂 Source of Wallpaper: “Cloud Xiaomi”, “My photos” or “Themes". 🎨 Effects: blurring, dimming, adaptive colors.

Click Apply and select where to activate the carousel: on the lock screen, desktop or both.

For the use of personal photos:

  2. Add images in a resolution of at least 1080×2400 (for Mi 11).

How to return the carousel after resetting to factory settings?
After the hard reset, all settings are reset, including the system settings of the carousel. To return the function: 1. Connect to Wi-Fi and wait for the initial setup of the phone to be completed. 2. Update all applications via Google Play (especially "Themes"). 3. Reboot the device. 4. The main differences between HyperOS and MIUI are:

Why does the carousel eat up a lot of traffic?
If you use cloud wallpaper, Xiaomi uploads new images (2-5 MB each) to reduce costs: Switch to personal photos. Increase the shift interval (for example, 1 time per day). Turn off roaming downloads: Settings → Mobile Network → Data transfer in roaming.
How to make the wallpaper change depending on the weather?
There is no such feature in the standard MIUI/HyperOS carousel, but you can use a workaround: Install the IFTTT app. Create an applet with a "changed weather" trigger and an action "change wallpaper" (you need integration with Tasker or Automate); Configure folders with wallpaper for different conditions (for example, "Sunny", "Rain", "Snow"). Minus: the solution is energy-intensive and requires constant operation of background processes.
The carousel only works on the lock screen. How do you turn it on on your desktop?
In some versions of MIUI, the carousel is only activated by default for the lock screen. To turn it on the desktop: Open Themes → Wallpaper → Carousel. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Apply to. Select Desktop or Both Screens. If the option is inactive, update the firmware or reset the theme settings.
Can I export carousel settings when changing my phone?
There is no direct export, but it can be maintained: 📁 The folder with the wallpaper (copy it on a new phone). ⚙️ Setting theme through backup Settings → Additionally. → Backup (not always working for a carousel). 📱 The list of themes used (take screenshots in the Themes app) will have to reconfigure the carousel on the new device, but you can quickly restore the wallpaper.
