Why the remote does not work with Xiaomi and how to fix it
Rostelecomβs universal remotes come with interactive consoles, but they donβt always interact correctly with Xiaomi TVs. The problem is that the control protocols differ: the console uses RC5 or NEC, and Mi TVs often run on Xiaomi IR Protocol or a modified Philips RC6. This leads to volume buttons, channel switching, or even on/off may not work.
Fortunately, most of the remotes models by Rostelecom (for example, STB-10402, MGTS-IPTV-02 or RT-KP101) They support manual programming for third-party devices. In this article, we will discuss all working methods of synchronization, from standard code entry to alternative methods using applications. TV 4S, Mi TV Q1 mi TV A2, The most common questions users have.
Before you start setting up, make sure that:
- π Remote Rostelecom is serviceable (check the batteries and work with the console).
- πΊ Xiaomi TV supports IR control (some models like Mi). TV LUX, You can only use a Bluetooth remote).
- π‘ There are no obstacles between the remote and TV (maximum distance - 8 meters, angle - no more than 30 meters).Β°).
Method 1: Programming the remote by Rostelecom code for Xiaomi
The most reliable method is to enter universal code for Xiaomi TVs, which are stitched into the remote memory and activate a compatible control protocol, and the following are the current codes for different versions of the remotes by Rostelecom:
| Rostelecom's remote model | Codes for Xiaomi | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| STB-10402 (black, with red buttons) | 0178, 0145, 0030 | It works with Mi TV 4S and Mi TV A2. |
| MGTS-IPTV-02 (white, with blue buttons) | 0004, 0176, 0195 | Re-entry may be required |
| RT-KP101 (Gray, with yellow buttons) | 0125, 0056, 0183 | Suitable for Mi TV Q1/Q2 |
| Premium Rostelecom (metal body) | 0001, 0171 | It rarely works the first time. |
To program the remote:
- Turn on the Xiaomi TV and point the remote to it Rostelecom.
- Press the TV (or STB if there is no separate TV button) and OK buttons for 3-5 seconds at the same time until the indicator flashes twice.
- Enter a 4-digit code from a table (e.g., 0178).
- Press OK β the indicator should flash once (success) or four times (error).
- Check the buttons on/off, Volume and Channels.
β οΈ Warning: If after you enter the code, the remote control stopped controlling the console, reset it to the factory settings. TV + MUTE 10 seconds until the indicator goes off.
Make sure the remote switches channels to TV, not on the console
Check the volume control (VOL+/VOL- buttons)
Test the on/off button (PWR)
Save the code in notes in case of resetting-->
Method 2: Automatic code search (if the codes from the table do not work)
If none of the codes fit, Rostelecom's remote supports auto-search, a method that is slower but more reliable for rare Xiaomi models (such as the Mi TV ES2022 or Mi TV Master).
- Turn on the TV and point the remote to the IR receiver (usually located at the bottom of the screen).
- Press TV + OK until the indicator flashes twice.
- Enter the 9999 code and activate the auto search mode.
- Press the on/off button (PWR) and hold it until the TV turns off.
- Release the button and press OK to save the code found.
It can take up to 2-3 minutes. If the TV doesn't respond, repeat the steps or try a different angle of the remote. Importantly, don't press other buttons while searching, it will reset the process.
π‘
If the auto search is stuck on one code, remove the batteries from the remote for 10 seconds, then repeat the procedure. This will reset the device's temporary memory.
Method 3: Configure via the Rostelecom TV app (for new remotes)
The latest versions of Rostelecom remotes (2022 and later) can be programmed through the official Rostelecom TV app for Android or iOS, a method that is convenient if the physical buttons of the remote are worn or not working.
- Install the app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as Rostelecom.
- Go to the Settings section β Remote DU β Setup for TV.
- Select the Xiaomi brand from the list (if not, select βOtherβ and enter the code manually).
- Follow the instructions on the screen β the application will send a signal to the remote via Bluetooth.
The advantage of this method is the ability to save multiple profiles (for example, for the TV and consoles separately), however, it only works with remotes that support Bluetooth 4.0+ (check the model on the back of the device).
β οΈ Attention: If after setting up through the application, the remote control stopped controlling the console, reset through the application menu (Settings) β Resetting the remote. This will bring back factory settings without losing sync with the TV.
Problem Solving: The remote is not programmed or is not working properly
If none of these methods worked, check the following points:
- π¦ IR port of the TV: Make sure it's not covered with a decorative panel or film. On Xiaomi Mi models TV A2 receiver is located to the right of the logo.
- π Batteries: Even a weak charge can interfere with programming. Try replacing the batteries with new ones (alkaline ones, such as Duracell or Energizer, are recommended).
- πΆ Interference: Disable other IR devices in the room (air conditioners, music centers) that can interfere at 38 kHz.
- π Reset TV: In rare cases, the conflict of protocols is solved by resetting TV to factory settings (Settings) β On TV. β Reset).
If the remote is partially working (for example, switches channels but does not control volume), the problem may be incomplete protocol compatibility.
- Try another code from the table (even if the first one worked in part).
- Use combined control: switch channels with the Rostelecom remote, and with the native Xiaomi remote control, adjust the volume.
- Update your TV firmware (Settings β About TV β System Update) In new versions of the software, Xiaomi adds support for additional IR protocols.

Alternative ways of managing: if nothing helps
If you can not program the remote by Rostelecom, consider alternative options:
- π± Mi Remote app: Official app from Xiaomi for Android/iOS You can control your TV through Wi-Fi or your smartphone's IR port. Download it here.
- π₯οΈ Universal remotes: Devices like Logitech Harmony or BroadLink RM4 Xiaomi supports and can replace the remote with Rostelecom, and their configuration is carried out via a PC or mobile application.
- π HDMI-CEC: If the TV and the console are connected through HDMI, activate the function CEC in the settings of TV (Settings) β HDMI β Management HDMI-This will allow you to control the console native Xiaomi remote.
Important: If you use a Rostelecom set-top box with a Xiaomi TV via HDMI-ARC, disable the CEC function before programming the remote. Protocol conflict can block IR signals.
