This problem is familiar to many Xiaomi smartphone owners, especially after the MIUI updates. The fact is that in some versions of the firmware, the flashlight can wilt due to permission bugs or conflicts with applications.

In 90% of cases, the solution lies on the surface: it is enough to know the alternative ways of turning off (at least 5 of them). But if the flashlight continues to burn even after rebooting, this is already a symptom of a system failure. In this article, we will analyze all the working methods, including a hidden command to force shutdown through an engineering menu that saves when standard tools do not help.

Note: The instruction is valid for all Redmi models (Redmi 5 to Redmi Note 13 Pro+) and for POCO and Xiaomi based on MIUI 12–14 and HyperOS.

Method 1: Classical shutdown through notification curtain

The most obvious method is to use the Quick Settings Panel, but even here, there are nuances that not everyone knows about:

• 📱 Swipe down from the top of the screen, the curtain will open. Find the flashlight icon (usually in the front row) and tap it.
• ⚙️ If there is no icon, click on the pencil (Edit) and add it to the active elements.
• 🔄 Some firmware requires double pressing (the first one includes, the second one turns off).
• 🚫 Check if access to the flashlight is blocked in the security settings (Settings) → Annexes → Permits → Lantern).

If the flashlight continues to burn after clicking on the icon, but it is shown as off in the curtain - this is a sign of a software failure. Try restarting the smartphone or using alternative methods from the following sections.

Method 2: Power and volume buttons – a hidden combination

Few people know, but all Redmis have a flashlight control hardware combination that works even when the interface freezes.

1. Hold the power button (on/off) for 3 seconds until the menu appears.
2. Without releasing the power button, simultaneously press and hold the volume button for 2 seconds.
3. The flashlight should turn off (or turn on if it was turned off).

This combination works on 95% of Xiaomi models, but may not work on custom firmware devices. If it doesn’t work the first time, repeat the action by holding the buttons longer.

Method 3: Voice Assistant (Google Assistant or XiaoAI)

If you have a voice assistant on, you can turn off the flashlight without touching the screen, which is especially convenient when your hands are busy or the screen is not responsive to touch.

What to do if nothing helps: radical measures

If the flashlight continues to burn despite all attempts, the problem may be:

Procedure:
