Why Xiaomiβs Watches Are Losing and What to Do About It
You picked up your Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 or POCO X5 Pro, and you never had a desktop watch? This is a problem that many MIUI smartphone owners know about -- the watch can disappear after a system update, a change in wallpaper, or even a casual touch. 90% of the time widget failure or launcher shell conflict is to blame.
In this article, weβll look at all the working ways to bring your watch back to the screen, from basic settings to hidden MIUI 14/15 features. Importantly, the methods work on all current Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models (2020β2026), but may differ for custom firmware devices. If youβre using Nova Launcher or HyperOS, check out the individual sections below.
Before you start settings, check two things: 1 The watch is not hidden under the app icons (try removing all widgets from the screen). 2 The time on the device is synchronized with the network (settings β Additional β Date and time).
Method 1: Recovery through desktop settings
The fastest method is to return the watch through standard MIUI Launcher options, which works if the time widget has simply been removed or disabled.
Instructions:
- Touch and hold the empty space on your desktop (not on the icon!).
- At the bottom of the screen will appear menu β select Widgets (icon with squares).
- Scroll down to the Watch section (or Time in English).
- Select the style of the watch (analog/digital) and drag the widget to the desktop.
If the widget list doesn't have a Watch section, it's locked, and then the launcher reboot will help.
- π Open the Settings. β Annexes β Application management.
- π Find the Launcher (or) MIUI Launcher) and press Stop.
- π± Return to the desktop β the clock should appear automatically.

If the watch doesnβt return after the launcher restarts, try changing the theme. Go to Settings β Themes and apply the standard MIUI Default theme.
Method 2: Reset the launcher settings (without data loss)
If the clock is lost after updating MIUI or installing a new launcher, resetting it will help, which does not affect your files or applications, but will return the standard look of the desktop.
How to drop the launcher:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find Launcher (or MIUI Home) and select Warehouse.
- Click Clear Data and confirm the action.
- Reboot your smartphone (Power β Reboot).
After the reboot:
- π The watch will appear in a standard place (usually in the upper left corner).
- π± All app icons will be dropped to the factory location.
- π§ Weather, calendar and other widgets will have to be reconfigured.

β οΈ Note: On some models POCO (for example, POCO F5) Resetting the launcher can lead to the disappearance of folders with applications. We recommend pre-fixing their location through the function "Accumulate folder" (long press on the folder). β Secure).
Method 3: Manual addition through system settings
If the watch widget is not available, it can be activated via hidden MIUI settings. This method works even on devices with cropped firmware (for example, for the European region).
Step-by-step:
- Open the Settings. β Desktop.
- Select the lock screen settings (on some models, the item is called the lock screen and desktop).
- Scroll down to the Desktop Widgets section.
- Activate the slider opposite the Watch (or Clock Widget).
- Return to the desktop and update it with the swipe down.
For HyperOS devices (e.g. Xiaomi 14 or Redmi K70):
- π§ Go to Settings. β Personalization β Desktop.
- π Select the Widgets β Watch and turn on display.
- π¨ Here you can change the style of the watch (minimalistic, classical, digital).

Method 4: Completely reset your settings (if nothing helps)
If the watch is lost after a major system failure (for example, an interrupted update or installation of an informal firmware), a hard reset may be required, which will remove all data from the device, so use it only as a last resort.
How to reset:
- Create a backup of data through Settings β About Phone β Backup.
- Open Settings β About the phone β Reset settings.
- Select Reset all settings (or Delete all data on new versions of MIUI).
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 5-10 minutes).
After discharge:
- π The clock will appear on the desktop by default.
- π± All applications and data will be deleted (except files on the SD-map).
- π§ You will have to reconfigure the smartphone, as after purchase.
| Xiaomi model | The probability of clock loss | Recommended method of recovery |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 10/11/12 | Low (5-10%) | Method 1 or 2 |
| POCO X3/X4/X5 | Average (20-30%) | Method 3 or change of launcher |
| Xiaomi 12/13/14 | High (40% after updates) | Method 2 or 4 |
| Redmi K50/K60 | Low (5%) | Method 1 |

Method 5: Using third-party launchers
If standard methods donβt work, you can install an alternative launcher that supports time widgets, which is true for POCO and Redmi users with cropped firmware, where there is no system clock.
The best launchers for Xiaomi:
- π Nova Launcher β supports custom watch widgets (e.g. Chronus or Chronus) KWGT).
- π¨ Hyperion Launcher β Optimized for the MIUI and has a built-in clock.
- β‘ Lawnchair β a lightweight launcher with support for Google Feed and time widgets.
- π± POCO Launcher β the official launcher for devices POCO high-set.

- Download the launcher from Google Play (like Nova Launcher).
- After installation, click Home and select the new launcher as the main one.
- Add the watch widget: Long-press on the desktop β Widgets. Choose Chronus or Clock Widget. Set up style and layout.
On devices with MIUI 14+, when using Nova Launcher, you may experience a conflict with the system clock. To avoid this, disable the standard time widget in the launcher settings: Additional β Nova Settings β Widgets β Hide system widgets.
