Xiaomi Mi TV A2 has gained popularity thanks to a combination of affordable prices, high-quality screen and smart features based on Android TV. However, even with such a simple action as turning on the device, users sometimes have difficulties - especially if the remote is lost, the batteries or the TV "hang" after the update. In this article, we will discuss all possible ways to turn on the Mi TV A2, from standard to alternative, and also tell you what to do if the TV does not respond to commands.
The A2 range includes several modifications (e.g. Mi TV A2 43, 50, 55" and 65"), but the principles of inclusion are the same. The only differences may be in the location of the physical buttons on the body - we will mention this too. If your TV does not turn on despite all efforts, at the end of this article you will find a checklist for diagnostics and an FAQ with answers to frequent questions.
1. Standard onset with the remote control
The most obvious way is to use the original Xiaomi Mi Remote (model R2156 or similar) if the batteries in the remote are working and it is paired with the TV, it will take literally a second to turn on.
How to do this:
- π Make sure that the remote has working batteries (type) installed. AAA). If you havenβt changed for a long time, replace it with new ones.
- πΊ Point the remote to the TVβs IR receiver (usually located at the bottom of the frame, right or center).
- π Press the Power button (round red or with a power icon). You don't have to hold it, just one short press.
- π Wait 2-5 seconds. The Mi logo should appear on the screen. TV, And then the main menu.
If the TV is not responding, check:
- π¦ Are there any obstacles between the remote and the IR receiver (for example, glass, mirrors or bright sunlight).
- π± Does the remote work with other devices (if you have a universal one).
- π Does not need to reconnect the remote (relevant after resetting the TV settings).
π‘
If the Xiaomi Mi Remote remote doesnβt work, try resetting it: press the Menu + OK buttons for 5 seconds until the LED blinks. Then repeat pairing with the TV via Settings β Remote and accessories.
2.Switching on without remote: physical buttons on the TV
The body of the Mi TV A2 has hidden mechanical buttons that duplicate the basic functions of the remote, and their location depends on the diagonal of the model:
- π 43" and 50": buttons are on the right side panel (under the Mi logo), covered with a thin plastic cap.
- π 55" and 65": buttons are located on the back, closer to the lower right corner (you need to look from the side).
How to use them:
- Find the Power button (usually highlighted by a dot or red).
- Press it once briefly (holding can start reboot mode).
- If the TV isnβt turned on, try Power + Volume Down (hold 5-7 seconds for forced start).
Attention! The physical buttons on the Mi TV A2 are very sensitive. Avoid pressing hard, it can lead to sticking of contacts. If the button is "recessed" and does not click, do not try to pull it yourself (risk of damage to the plume).

4.What to do if the TV is not turned on?
If the Mi TV A2 doesn't respond to the remote or physical buttons, the reasons could be software or hardware. Let's get this straight.
Diagnostics of nutrition
First, check:
- β‘ Power cable: make sure it's tightly inserted into the TV and socket.Try another cable (suitable from monitors or other Xiaomi TVs).
- π Socket: connect another device to it (for example, a charger for a phone) to make sure it works.
- π Power Indicator: If it doesnβt burn at all (even red), the problem may be in the power supply or motherboard.
Forced resetting
If the TV is βhangingβ (for example, after an update or failure), perform a hard reset:
- Turn off the TV (take the plug out of the socket).
- Wait 10-15 minutes (this is important β the capacitors should be completely discharged).
- Turn the TV back on and try turning it on with the Power button.
Checking for hardware faults
If after all the manipulations, the TV does not show signs of life, the following problems are possible:
| Symptoms. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The indicator is not on, there is no reaction to the buttons | Faulty power supply | Replacement of the power supply (disassembly required) |
| The light is red, but the TV is not turned on. | Failure of firmware or motherboard | Flashing over USB or replacing the board |
| The TV is turned on, but immediately turned off. | Overheating or illumination | Dust cleaning or replacement LED-tape |
| Image is there, but no sound. | Audio driver failure | Resetting or software update |
β οΈ If you suspect a power supply malfunction (e.g., you hear the smell of burning or the TV sparkles), do not turn it on until you have been examined by a specialist!
5. Resetting settings as a last resort
If the TV turns on but doesn't work properly (e.g., constantly restarts or doesn't respond to the remote), a factory reset may help.
How to perform the reset:
- Turn on the TV (if possible) and go to Settings β Device β Reset.
- Select Reset all settings (may require input) PIN-code, by default - 0000 or 1234).
- Confirm the action and wait for the reboot (it will take 3-5 minutes).
If the TV doesnβt turn on but responds to buttons, try a hardware reset:
- Turn off the TV.
- Press the Power button on the case and, without letting it go, connect the power cable.
- Hold the button for 10-15 seconds until the recovery menu appears.
- In the menu, select Wipe Data/Factory Reset (control β volume buttons, confirmation β Power).
β οΈ Warning! Hardware reset deletes all data, including linked Google and Mi Account accounts, and may require re-authorization to access certain features (e.g. Google Play).
π‘
Resetting helps in 80% of software failures, but will not solve problems if the malfunction is hardware (for example, a burned power supply or a damaged matrix).
Prevention of inclusion problems
To avoid situations where the Mi TV A2 refuses to turn on, follow the simple guidelines:
- π Use a voltage stabilizer β power surges often disable power supplies.
- π Regularly update the firmware through Settings β System system β Update of the PO.
- π§Ή Once every 3-6 months, clean the ventilation holes from dust (you can vacuum at minimum power).
- π Change the batteries in the remote every 6 months, even if it is still working.

It is also useful to set up automatic turn on by timer:

- Activate the option and set a convenient time (for example, turn on at 18:00 on weekdays).
