Why Xiaomi TV doesnβt have regular channels and how to fix it
You have connected the antenna to the new TV Xiaomi Mi TV, But instead of the usual "first", "Russia"-1" Or local channels, you see only a blank screen or a "No signal" sign, and the problem is familiar to many owners of smart TVs of this brand (DVB-T2), ignoring analogue broadcasting.
In this article, we will learn how to manually turn on normal air channels (also called analog or βcableβ in old memory), even if your Xiaomi TV 4A/4S/5A/5X/P1/E does not find them automatically.
- π How to distinguish digital channels from analog channels and why they are not on the list
- βοΈ Step-by-step setting through the TV menu (with pictures)
- π‘ What to do if the TV does not catch the signal or channels are lost
- π οΈ Hidden settings for power users (including Engineer Mode)
Important: if you live in a region where analog broadcasting has already been completely disabled (since 2019 in most regions of Russia), then you will not find ordinary channels through the antenna - only digital (20 channels in two multiplexes) or pay cable TV.
Step 1: Check the connection type and antenna
Before you go through the settings, make sure that the hardware isn't the problem. Normal channels are broadcast in analog format, and you need to receive them:
- πΆ Passive or active antenna with support for decimeter waves (DMW). If you have an old "horn" antenna for meter waves (MW), it will not work.
- π Coaxial cable with 75 Ohms (standard for TV) check if the cable is bent and if the wool is damaged.
- πΊ TV connector: should be labeled as ANT IN or RF IN (usually sideways or rearward).
If you are connected via a cable provider (for example, Rostelecom, MTS, Beeline), then the usual channels can be broadcasted on its network, but the setting will be different!
β οΈ Note: Cable TV is required CAM-module (if the provider uses encoding) or manual frequency settings. Check with your operator - they should provide a frequency list and symbolic speed.
| Type of connection | Equipment required | What you need to set up |
|---|---|---|
| Etheric analogue | DMV antenna, cable 75 ohms | Autosearch in the TV menu (analog TV mode) |
| Etheric Digital (DVB-T2) | DMV antenna, cable 75 ohms | Auto Search in the TV menu (Digital TV mode) |
| Cable (from provider) | Cable from provider, CAM-module (if necessary) | Manual frequency input (data from the provider) |
| Satellite. | Satellite dish, receiver (if there is no built-in tuner) | Setting up via the Satellite menu |
Step 2: Starting Auto-Search for Analog Channels
If the antenna is connected correctly, we move on to setting up. On Xiaomi TV, the path to the channel search menu may vary depending on the firmware version, but the general scheme is as follows:
- Turn on the TV and press the Menu (or Settings) button on the remote.
- Go to Settings β Television β Channel settings.
- Select AutoSearch (or Channel Search).
- In the list of signal sources, select the antenna (or Etheric TV).
- In the Channel Type section, be sure to tick the "Analogue" tick (only "Digital" can stand by default).
- Click Launch Search and wait until it is completed (may take 5-15 minutes).
If the channels do not appear after the search:
- π Try manual search (by specifying the frequency of broadcasts in your area).
- π‘ Check if the antenna settings are not enabled with the Amplifier mode (if the antenna is active).
- π§ Update the TV firmware (instruction below).
Make sure the antenna is connected to the ANT IN| connector
Select the source of the signal "Antenna" in the settings |
Check "Analogue Channels" in search type|
Disable other devices that may cause interference (Wi-Fi routers, microwaves)-->
Step 3: Manually add channels (if the search engine fails)
If the automatic search didn't find any channels, but you're sure that analog broadcasting still works in your area, try manual frequency input.
- Go to Settings β Television β Channel settings β Manual search.
- Select the signal type: Analog TV.
- Enter the broadcast frequency for your region: π Moscow: 546 MHz (Channel 29) π St. Petersburg: 666 MHz (Channel 45) π Novosibirsk: 778 MHz (59 channel) The full list of frequencies by city can be found on the RTRS website (section "Coverage map").
- Set up the parameters: πΆ Bandwidth: 8 MHz (standard for Russia). π Modulation: 256 QAM (for digital purposes or PAL (analog).
Search
If manual search did not give results, the problem may be:
- π« No signal (analog broadcasts disabled in your region).
- π Antenna or cable malfunctions (check on another TV).
- π οΈ Software failure of the TV (reset or update of the software is needed).

Step 4: Update firmware to support analog channels
On some Xiaomi TV models (especially those released after 2020), analog TV support can be turned off at the firmware level.
- Go to Settings β About TV β System Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- If a new version is available, install it (the TV will restart automatically).
If the update over the Internet does not help, try the manual firmware:
- Download the latest version of the software for your model from the official Xiaomi website.
- Unpack the archive and copy the update.zip file to the flash drive (FAT32 format).
- Put the flash drive in. USB-television-port.
- Go to Settings β About TV β Update via USB and select a file.
β οΈ Warning: Don't interrupt the upgrade process or take the flash drive out until the TV is fully restarted. - Xiaomi models TV P1 And newer, if the firmware fails, you may need to restore through Fastboot.
π‘
If you haven't got any analog channels since the update, check the region of the TV. Sometimes the default setting is "China" or "Europe" where analog TV has been disabled for a long time. Change region to "Russia" under Settings β System β Region and repeat the search.
Step 5: Reset your TV settings (if nothing works)
If all the previous steps failed, the last option is a complete reset, which will return the TV to the factory parameters and can solve software errors:
- Open Settings β About TV β Reset settings.
- Enter. PIN-code (default 0000 or 1234).
- Confirm the reset and wait for the reset.
After discharge:
- π Repeat the channel search (see Step 2).
- π‘ Make sure that the antenna settings are Analog mode enabled + Number.
- π§ If necessary, update the firmware again.
β οΈ Warning: Reset will remove all stored apps, accounts and personal settings (brightness, sound, Wi-Fi) and pre-record important settings or take a screen photo with settings.
π‘
Resetting helps in 70% of cases when the TV "cannot see" analog channels due to software errors, but if the hardware problem (for example, a broken tuner), reset will not help - you will need repairs.
Step 6: Alternative ways to view conventional channels
If analogue broadcasting is disabled in your region, but you still want to watch "normal" channels, consider alternatives:
- πΆ Digital on-air TV (DVB-T2): 20 free channels in high quality (first and second multiplexes). You need the same antenna to receive, but in the settings of the TV, select Digital TV instead of analogue TV.
- πΊ Cable TV from the provider: Many operators (Rostelecom, MTS, Beeline) offer packages with familiar channels. ANT IN, Frequency settings are required (provided by the provider).
- π°οΈ Satellite TV: If you have a satellite dish (like Tricolor or NTV Plus), connect it to your TV via a satellite dish. LNB IN Or use an external receiver.
- π IPTV Over the Internet: Install apps like PeerTV, Livestream TV Or Wink (for Rostelecom subscribers) will require stable Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
For the Xiaomi Mi TV Q1/Q2 and later, there is another option - an external TV tuner (for example, AVerMedia or Hauppauge), which connects via USB or HDMI.
