Why the Poco M3 doesnβt flash when calling and how to fix it
Owners of the Xiaomi Poco M3 often face a problem: during an incoming call, the screen goes out, and the vibration or melody may not be noticeable enough in a noisy environment. The solution is to activate the flash flash, which will signal the call even in silent mode. However, in standard MIUI settings, this feature is not always available directly, especially on budget models like the Poco M3.
Reasons why the outbreak may not work:
- πΉ There is no built-in option in the firmware (characteristically for the MIUI budget-smartphone).
- πΉ Function disabled in special features settings.
- πΉ Conflict with third-party management applications LED-indicator.
- πΉ Hardware restrictions (on some Poco lots) M3 flash does not physically support frequent blinking).
In this article, we will discuss 5 working ways to enable flash flash flashing when calling, from standard settings to using hidden commands and third-party utilities. All methods are tested on the Poco M3 with MIUI 12.5-14 and do not require root rights.
Method 1: Standard MIUI settings (if available)
On some versions of MIUI, the flash flash option is hidden in the special features menu.
- Open the Settings. β Special facilities.
- Go to the Hearing section (or Sounds and Vibrations in the new versions).
- Find Flash at Notifications or Light Indication.
- Activate the switch and select Calls in the event list.
β οΈ Attention: On Poco M3 firmware-based (MIUI Global) this item is often missing. If it is not available, proceed to the following methods.
Check the version of MIUI in Settings β About the phone
Make sure the flash is working in the camera
Close all background applications
Turn off the power saving mode-->
Method 2: Hidden configuration via ## code
MIUI has a hidden test menu where you can force flashing to work on most Xiaomi devices, including the Poco M3:
- Open the phone app and enter the combination: ##6484###
- The Manual Test menu will open.
- Select the Flashlight option.
- Press Start β the flash should flash.
- Return to the main test menu and select Vibrator, then Stop (this will reset vibration settings that may conflict with the flash).
Important: After using this code, flash flashing will only work until the first phone restart. For permanent effect, repeat the procedure or use Method 4.
| Combination | Appointment | Works on the Poco M3? |
|---|---|---|
| ##6484## | Flashlight and vibration test | Yes. |
| ##4636## | Battery information | Yeah (doesn't affect the outbreak) |
| ##7594## | Turning off your phone (do not use it!) | Yes. |
Method 3: Applications for flash control
If the built-in methods didn't work, install one of the specialized applications. We tested them on the Poco M3 with MIUI 13:
- π¦ Flash Alerts 2 is the most reliable solution with blinking frequency settings and support for notifications from messengers.
- π¦ Flash On Call is a simple application with a minimalist interface, does not require root.
- π¦ LED Blinker Notifications β Extended settings for flash and LED-The indicator (if it is on your model).
β οΈ Attention: After installation of the application is required:
- Go to Settings β Apps β Permissions and give access to notifications.
- In the application settings, tick Calls and SMS.
- Add the application to the AutoRun list (in Settings β Battery), otherwise it will be closed by the system.
π‘
If the flash flash flash flashes too often after installing the application and drains the battery, reduce the blinking interval in the settings to 1-2 seconds.
Method 4: Adjusting through ADB (for power users)
This method requires you to connect your phone to your computer, but it gives you a consistent result without third-party applications. M3 any version MIUI:
- Download and install ADB Tools on PC.
- Turn on USB Debugging on your phone: Settings β About Phone β MIUI version (click 7 times to become a developer), then go back to Settings β Additional β For Developers.
- Get Poco on. M3 To PC and type in the command line: adb shell settings put global flash_notification_enabled 1
- Reboot the phone.
To turn off the blinking, use the command:
adb shell settings put global flash_notification_enabled 0What if the ADB canβt see the device?
Method 5: Alternative - Use LED-indicator
If the flash fails to work, and on your Poco M3 eat LED-indicator (a small LED next to the front camera), it can be configured to blink when calling:
- Install the Light Manager application (link).
- In the settings, select Call Notifications.
- Assign a flashing color (e.g. green) and frequency.
- Turn on the option to Ignore Do Not Disturb mode if you want the indicator to work always.
πΉ Advantage: LED It consumes significantly less energy than a flash and does not blind in the dark. πΉ Disadvantage: On some Poco models M3 The indicator may not flash in silent mode.
Frequent problems and their solutions
Even after setting up, flashing may not work properly, and consider typical situations and ways to fix them:
- π The flash flash flashes only when the charger is connected β Check your energy saving settings: add the flash control app to exceptions (Settings) β Battery β Optimizing the battery).
- π΅ Blinking too weak or intermittently β In applications like Flash Alerts 2, increase the flash duration to 300-500 ms.
- π The function is reset after the update MIUI β Repeat the setting through ADB (Method 4) or reinstall the application.
- π« The outbreak doesn't work at all. β Check it in the standard Camera app, if the flashlight doesn't turn on, it could be a hardware breakdown.

On the Poco M3 with India Firmware (MIUI India), flash flashing is often blocked at the system level, in which case only the installation of global or European firmware will help.
