Xiaomiβs calendar isnβt just a date tracking tool, itβs a full-fledged organizer with synchronization, reminders, and integration with other services. However, many users find that the app is either missing from the home screen or doesnβt display events after the MIUI update. In this article, weβll look at all the possible ways to turn the calendar on, from basic activation to solving typical synchronization problems.
Itβs important to understand that the interface may differ depending on the firmware version (MIUI 12, 13, 14 or HyperOS) and the device model (e.g. Redmi Note 12 vs Xiaomi 13T). But the general configuration logic remains the same. If you havenβt found the calendar in the app menu, donβt rush to install third-party alternatives β most likely itβs just hidden or disabled in the system settings.
Weβll also look at how to add a calendar widget to the home screen, set up up upcoming event notifications, and sync data with Google Calendar or Mi Account. For owners of HyperOS devices, weβll give you some instructions, as this firmware has changed the way to some settings.
1. Where is the Xiaomi calendar: Finding a standard app
You have to find it before you can customize your calendar, and depending on the version of MIUI, the app can be called differently.
- π Calendar (standard name in Russian)
- π Calendar (in English in global firmware)
- π Mi-calendar (in some localized versions)
To find the app:
- Scroll down all screens β sometimes the calendar icon is hidden on the second or third screen.
- Use App Search: Swipe down the home screen and type βcalendarβ or βcalendarβ in the search bar.
- Check the Tools folder or Google β sometimes system utilities are automatically folded there.
If the search didn't work, it might be disabled to get it back:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select Show All Apps.
- Find a calendar (or Calendar) and tap it.
- If the Enable button is active, press it.

If there is no calendar in the list of applications, try resetting the launcher settings: press the empty space on the home screen β Screen settings β Reset the layout. This will bring all the standard icons back to their place.
2.How to add a calendar widget to the main screen
The calendar widget allows you to quickly view upcoming events directly on the home screen.
- Hold your finger on the empty spot on the main screen.
- In the menu that appears, select Widgets.
- Scroll through the list to the Tools or Calendar section.
- Select the desired widget size (e.g., 4Γ2 for the month) and drag it to the screen.
In HyperOS, the path is a little different:
- Swipe left on the home screen to open the Mini Program panel.
- Click Edit (pencil icon).
- Find the calendar widget and add it to the active ones.
If the widget is not automatically updated, check:
- βοΈ Sync settings in your Mi or Google account.
- π Manual Data Update: Open the Calendar β Swipe down for updates.
- π΅ Internet connection status (widget requires network access to synchronize).
3. Set up sync with Google Calendar
By default, the Xiaomi calendar can sync with both Mi and Google accounts.
- Open the Calendar app.
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner β Settings β Calendar Management.
- Select Add an Account β Google.
- Enter your Google account details and allow calendar access.
After adding the account:
- πΉ Select which calendars to display (e.g., βPersonalβ, βWorkβ, βHolidaysΒ»).
- π Enable automatic sync in your Google account settings (Settings) β Accounts. β Google β Synchronization of the account).
- π Set up notifications: Select Reminders in your calendar settings and set the alert time (10 minutes, hour, day, etc.).
If events do not appear after synchronization, check if the background mode for Calendar: Settings β Applications β Calendar β Battery β No restrictions are turned off.
What if Google Calendar is not synced?
4. Problem Solving: The calendar doesn't work or doesn't open
If your calendar refuses to start or constantly gives out errors, try the following steps:
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar won't open. | Failure in application data | Clear cache and data: Settings β Apps β Calendar β Storage β Clear cache / data |
| Events are not displayed | Synchronization disabled | Check your account settings (Settings β Accounts β Synchronization) |
| The widget is not updated | Battery limitations | Remove restrictions for the application in Settings β Battery β Battery Optimization |
| No connection error | Internet problems | Check Wi-Fi/mobile data connection and date/time settings (Settings β Additional β Date and Time β Autodetermination) |
If nothing helps, try resetting your calendar to factory settings:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Calendar β Storage.
- Click Clear Data (this will delete all local events!).
- Reboot your phone and add your accounts again.

Before resetting your calendar data, export your events to.ics via the Google Calendar or Mi Cloud web version to avoid losing important reminders.
5. Features of the calendar in HyperOS: what has changed
In HyperOS firmware (which replaced MIUI on new devices), the calendar interface became more minimalistic, but lost some of the usual features.
- π± Widgets are now added through the Mini Programming Bar (swipe left on the home screen).
- π Mi Account syncs are faster, but may conflict with Google Calendar.
- π Notification settings moved to Settings β Notifications β Calendar.
To include the calendar in HyperOS:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find the calendar and make sure it's on.
- If the icon is not on the screen, add it through the screen settings β Add applications.
For owners of Xiaomi 14, 13 Ultra or Redmi K70 with HyperOS, there is a smart reminder feature that analyzes your events and suggests the optimal time for tasks.
- Open the calendar and go to Settings β Smart features.
- Enable the option of Schedule Analysis.
- Allow access to notifications and calendar.
6.Alternative calendars for Xiaomi: when the standard is not enough
If the built-in calendar does not suit the functionality, consider third-party applications:
- π Google Calendar β the best synchronization with other Google services (Gmail, Meet, Tasks).
- π Microsoft Outlook β convenient for enterprise users with Office 365 integration.
- π Business Calendar 2 - Extended widgets and color tags for events.
- π DigiCal β support for weather, lunar calendar and themes.
To set an alternative calendar:
- Download the app from Google Play.
- Open it and allow access to calendar and notifications.
- In the settings of the standard Xiaomi calendar, turn off notifications to avoid duplication.
Comparison of the standard Xiaomi calendar and alternatives:
| Function | Standard calendar | Google Calendar | Business Calendar 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Synchronization with Mi Account | β Yes. | β No. | β No. |
| Home screen widgets | β 3 options | β 5+ variant | β 10+ variant |
