Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones often experiment with the appearance of the interface, installing third-party themes from the MIUI Themes store. However, with a new theme, the system font often changes, which can lead to a deterioration in readability or simply dislike the user.
The problem is that the standard HyperOS or MIUI shell allows themes to be embedded deeply into the system, replacing the system font files. If you just delete the theme, the font may remain changed. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of resetting typography to default, including hidden settings and working with developer rights.
Before you start, it is important to understand the difference between a design topic and a separate font. System font is the file that displays all the letters in menus, messages and browsers. Its incorrect operation can cause "squares" instead of characters or blurring of text on a high-resolution screen.
Resetting theme through the standard menu
The easiest and safest way to get back to a standard font is to reset the current theme to a classic one, and users often forget that the font is part of the theme package, so you don't have to delete the apps, you just go to the personalization settings.
Open the Themes app on your device. Go to the user profile by clicking on the person icon at the bottom right of the screen. Here you will see the My Themes section, where you store the history of all installed designs. Find a theme with the title Classic or Untitled (usually first on the list or marked as standard) and apply it.
Once you have a standard theme, the system will automatically tighten the original font files if they are not corrupted. Problems with Chinese fonts and coding
A common problem for users of global firmware versions is to install themes that are optimized for China, which contain fonts that do not support Cyrillic or Latin correctly, and as a result, the user sees squares or characters instead of letters.
If you lose letters, the first thing you need to do is change the region of your device. Go to Settings → Additional settings → Region. Set up India or Singapore. These regions often have stricter font restrictions, which forces the system to ignore incorrect files and download standard ones.
When you change region, be sure to restart your phone. If you have any boxes left, try removing the newly installed themes, and if you want to, you can use MIUI Themes, find the Classic theme, and force it.
