Forgot the email that you used to set up your Xiaomi smartphone? It's a common problem -- especially if the phone was bought a long time ago or configured by someone else. Without access to the linked email, you can't reset your Mi Account password, sync your data, or even unlock your device after you reset. Fortunately, there are several ways to find your email directly on your phone -- without a computer and complex manipulations.
In this article, weβll look at all the possible methods, from browsing in MIUI settings to recovering through Google and Xiaomi services, and learn what to do if your mail isnβt displayed or your phone is locked, and the instructions are suitable for all models, from the Redmi Note 10 to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, regardless of the firmware version.
1. Check email in Mi Account settings
The quickest way is to look at your email in your Xiaomi account settings, which works if youβre logged in to your Mi Account and never logged out.
Open the Settings app (cog icon) and follow the steps:
- π± Go to Accounts and Sync (or Mi Accounts in older versions) MIUI).
- π Click on the line with your name or avatar at the top of the screen.
- βοΈ The user name will be the email associated with the account (for example, the user).@example.com).
If you see a phone number instead of a mail, you have your account linked to it, and then try other ways (see Section 3).
π‘
If your email is not displayed in the settings, this may mean that the phone previously belonged to another user, in which case, be sure to untie other peopleβs data via the logout to avoid blocking problems.
2. Search for email via Google settings
If a Xiaomi phone has a Google account, your email can be linked to it, which is especially useful if you use Google Play, Gmail or YouTube.
To find the email:
- Open Settings β Accounts and Sync β Google.
- Select an account (if there are several).
- At the top of the screen will be an email address (e.g. yourname@gmail.com).
Note that Google and Mi Account are different systems, and if you're looking for email to log into Xiaomi Cloud, this may not help, but many users use the same email for both services.
3. Recover email through Xiaomi website
If your email doesnβt show up in your phoneβs settings, try restoring it through Xiaomiβs official website, which is a good option even if you donβt remember your email or password, but you have access to your phone number.
Follow the instructions:
- π Go to the recovery page: account.xiaomi.com/pass/retrieve.
- π Select the phone number tab and enter the tied number.
- π’ Enter the captcha and press Send the code.
- π§ After confirmation SMS The system will show the email associated with the account.
Important: If the phone number is not linked to your account, this method will not work, in which case, try to restore access through a backup email (if it was specified during registration).

4. View email in Xiaomi apps
Some standard MIUI applications display linked mail, for example, in Mi Cloud, Themes or Xiaomi Browser you can find an email account.
Where to look:
| Annex | The Path to Email | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Mi Cloud | Open the application β Profile β Email | Showing off Mi Account mail |
| Topics | Profile β Settings β Account | It can display both Mi Account and Google |
| Xiaomi browser | Menu β Synchronization β Account | Only if synchronization is enabled |
| Mi Store | Profile β Personal data | Shows email for purchases |
If apps display an incomplete email (e.g. u***@gmail.com), try to recall the possible options for starting the address. Often users use their names, dates of birth or nicknames.
5. Search email in backups and files
If you have ever backed up your account through Mi Cloud or Google Drive, it can store your account information, and your mail can be listed in your configuration files.
How to check:
- π Open the files. β Mi Cloud β Backups and look at file names β sometimes they contain email.
- π Use File Search: Type @ or.com in the search bar to help you find documents with email addresses.
- π± Check the screenshots in the gallery: you may have taken pictures of the screen with your account settings.
If the phone has Root access, you can view system files along the way:
/data/system/users/0.xmlThis file may store account data, but it requires superuser rights and a file manager like Root Explorer to view it.
Check backups in Mi Cloud
Look for files with the extension.xml or.db

Use keyword search (@,.com, gmail)-->
6 What to do if the email is not found
If none of the methods worked, it is possible that the account was created via social networks (such as Facebook or Twitter) or that the mail was deleted.
β οΈ Warning: If you can't restore access to Mi Account, don't reset your phone to factory settings. Once reset, the device may require you to enter your Mi Account Lock and it will be extremely difficult to unlock it.
Alternative solutions:
- π§ Try to remember all the mailboxes you've ever used. Check them for emails from Xiaomi (e.g., with the topic "Welcome to Mi Account").
- π± Contact the Xiaomi service center with documents on the phone. They can help untie the account (paid).
- π If the phone is bought by hand, contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the Mi Account link via Xiaomiβs website.
If you are sure that you no longer need an account, you can create a new Mi Account and link it to your phone, but this will result in the loss of access to old data in the Mi Cloud (photos, notes, contacts).

If the phone is locked because of Mi Account Lock, the only official way to unlock it is to ask Xiaomi for proof of purchase.Do not use βgrayβ methods β they can lead to complete data loss.
