IMEI is needed to unlock the device
Many users are faced with the problem of IMEI suddenly disappears after firmware or reset settings. In such cases, knowing alternative methods of verification helps to quickly diagnose the problem. IMEI Redmi Note, Redmi (without the Note prefix), as well as on the flagship models of the K series. Particular attention will be paid to the nuances for devices with duality. 1. Standard method: through phone settings
The easiest method is to use the built-in settings menu. It works on all Xiaomi Redmi models, including the latest versions. MIUI 14/15, does not require an internet connection or SIM-map.
Open the Settings app (cog icon) and go to the section:

2. USSD-Code: *#06# for quick check-up
The universal way that works on any phone, including Xiaomi Redmi, is a set of special code. Open the Phone app, go to the dial keyboard and type in:
*#06#After typing the code, a window with one or two will automatically open. IMEI (This method works even without dual-SIM models. SIM-Cards and does not require an Internet connection.

β οΈ Note: If you enter the code *#06#, a message is inadmissible MMI-code, that could mean:
- π΅ No connection to the network (check the aircraft mode)
- π§ Module damaged. IMEI after the firmware (requires restoration through the QCN)
- π οΈ Unofficial firmware with remote service functions installed
Redmi with MIUI Global sometimes gets a bug when the *#06# code doesnβt work the first time, in which case try restarting your phone or entering the code through the EngineerMode app (available on the Play Market).
3.IMEI check through box and sticker under battery
If the phone is not switched on or locked, the IMEI can be found on physical media:
- π¦ Box: On a barcode sticker (usually under film). IMEI1 and IMEI2.
- π Under the battery: On older Redmi models (until 2018) sticker with IMEI sub-removable.
- π Warranty card: In some regions (e.g. India, China) IMEI duplicated.
π How do you authenticate? Compare that. IMEI from the box and from the phone menu (method 1 or 2). If the codes don't match, you're here:

- π Recovered device (after theft or loss)

4. Engineering menu (Engineer Mode) for advanced users
If standard methods donβt work (for example, after the firmware IMEI dropped to 0 or null), you can try to get the code through the engineering menu.
Instructions for MIUI:
- Open the phone app and type in: ##4636###
- Select the Phone Information (or Phone Information) section.
- Scroll down to the IMEI block β both codes (for dual-SIM) can be displayed here.
π§ For custom firmware:
- π± Install the app MTK Engineering Mode (for Mediatek processors) or Qualcomm EngineerMode (for Snapdragon).
- π Go to section. CDS Information β Radio Information β Phone 1/Phone 2.
- π Look for the line. AT+EGMR=1.7 is a withdrawal request IMEI.
On some Redmi models with Snapdragon processor 8 Gen 1/2 (Like Redmi. K60 Pro) Engineering menu locked. In this case, use ADB-team:

5. IMEI verification via computer (ADB and Fastboot)
If the phone is not switched on or locked but you have access to a Fastboot or ADB, you can get an IMEI via the command line.This method requires Xiaomi drivers installed and Google's Platform Tools tools installed.
π₯οΈ Method 1: Through ADB (phone on, debugging on USB permitted)
- Connect Redmi to your PC and activate Developer Mode (7 times click on the MIUI version in the settings).
- Include USB debugging in the developer menu.
- Open the command line in the folder with ADB and type: adb shell getprop ro.gsm.imei or for the second slot: adb shell getprop ro.gsm.imei2
π Method 2: Fastboot (phone is off but loaded into Fastboot)
- Press Volume Down + Power to enter Fastboot.
- Connect your phone to your PC and execute the command: fastboot getvar imei
- For the second IMEI (if any): fastboot getvar imei2
β οΈ Note: On some Redmi models with a locked bootloader, Fastboot commands can return the empty value. In this case, only unlocking through the Mi Unlock Tool (from the official Xiaomi website) will help).

If ADB/Fastboot does not return the IMEI, this may indicate a hardware malfunction of the communication module or damage to the modemst1/modemst2 partition in the device memory.
6. Online services for IMEI verification (original and historical check)
Once you have received the IMEI, it can be checked through official and third-party services.
- π Date of production of the phone
- π Producing country (China, India, Indonesia)
- π Blocking status (lost/stolen)
- π‘ Network support (2G/3G/4G/5G)

- π IMEI.info β basic information about the model and characteristics.
- π XiaomiMEI β a specialized service for Xiaomi devices (checks originality).
- π SNDeepInfo β decoding the serial number and IMEI Chinese versions.
π How to check the history of the phone?
- Go to Swappa or IMEI24.
- Enter your Redmi's IMEI.
- Check the statuses: β Clean β the phone is not on the blacklist β Blacklisted β blocked by operator (possible theft) β οΈ Lost/Stolen β listed as lost
β οΈ Note: Some services (for example, IMEI24) can show false positives for Chinese versions of Redmi (e.g. Redmi) K40 Always check the data with the official Xiaomi website.
7 What to do if IMEI is missing or not readable?
If you see IMEI: Unknown, Null or 000000000000000, it means that the code has been erased or corrupted.
- π Failed update/firmware via Fastboot or Recovery.
- π οΈ Replacement of motherboard without transfer IMEI.
- π΅ Hardware failure of the communication module (for example, after a fall).

For Qualcomm processors:
