The small font on the Xiaomi Redmi screen can be a real problem — especially if you are used to reading books from your phone, chatting in messengers or just suffer from eye fatigue. Fortunately, the manufacturer has provided several ways to zoom in text, and in the MIUI firmware there are additional options that not all users know about.
In this article, we will discuss 5 proven methods of enlarging the font, from basic settings to little-known tricks with ADB and third-party utilities. You will learn how to resize the text separately for system applications and third-party programs, and what to do if the standard settings do not work. All instructions are relevant for the Redmi Note 10/11/12, Redmi 9/10/13C and other devices on MIUI 12-14.
Important: Some methods require administrator rights or USB debugging — we’ll explain in detail how to enable these options without risk to the system. If you use Redmi with custom firmware (like Pixel Experience or LineageOS), some methods may not work — in which case, note the universal solutions at the end of the article.
1. Standard change of font size through MIUI settings
The easiest way is to use the built-in options, which is suitable for most users and does not require additional knowledge.
- Open the Settings app (the gear icon on the desktop).
- Go to the Screen section (or Additional settings → Screen on older versions of MIUI).
- Select text size or font size.
- Move the slider to the right to enlarge the font. Available values: Small to Very Large.
- Click Ready or Apply to save the changes.
⚠️ Note: Some Redmi models (e.g. Redmi) 9A or Redmi 8) this section may be called font size and display. If you can't see the slider, upgrade the firmware to the latest version. MIUI — In the old builds, the option may not be available.
This method changes the font size in all system applications (calls, messages, settings), but does not affect most third-party programs (such as Telegram or WhatsApp).
Change the scale of the entire screen (including icons)
If you don’t need a single font and want to zoom in on all the interface elements — icons, buttons, menus — use Screen Scale, which is useful for users with vision problems or those who use a smartphone at a long distance (for example, as a navigator in a car).
Instructions:
- 📱 Go to Settings. → Screen. → Screen size.
- 🔍 Choose one of the preliminary scales: Standard, Large or Very Large.
- 🔄 If you need precise settings, press Additional and move the slider manually (not available on all models).
- ✅ Confirm the changes with the button Apply.
⚠️ Note: Scaling up the screen can cause text to be cropped in some apps (such as Instagram or banking programs).If the interface becomes uncomfortable after the change, return the standard settings or use separate zoom (described in the next section).
Check the current version of MIUI (Settings → About Phone)
Close all background applications
Connect the charger (on older Redmis, the process can take up to 30 seconds)

3. Separate scaling: font and interface separately
If you want to zoom in only the font without touching icons and menus, or vice versa, make buttons bigger by keeping the text standard, use separate settings. This feature is available on Redmi with MIUI 13 and later.
How to set up:
- Open the Settings. → Special facilities.
- Select text size and display.
- Activate the Separate Scaling Switch.
- You can now regulate yourself independently: 📜 Font size (text only) 🖥️ Display scale (icons, buttons, menus)
Apply the changes and restart the device if the system requests it.
On the Redmi models with AMOLED-screens (e.g. Redmi Note) 11 Pro+ 5G) Separate scaling can lead to a slight increase in energy consumption - 5-7% post 8 This is due to the recalculation of pixels at different scales of elements.

If after zooming some applications are displayed incorrectly (for example, text is cropped in VK or Tinkoff Bank), try clearing their cache: Settings → Applications → Select program → Clear cache.
4.Using hidden MIUI settings (for power users)
There are hidden parameters in MIUI firmware that allow you to fine-tune the text display, such as changing line spacing, font boldness, or even setting a custom font, and you'll need to activate Developer Mode to access these options.
Steps to enable hidden settings:
- Open the Settings. → The phone.
- Find the MIUI version and click on it 7 times in a row (the notification “You became a developer” will appear).
- Go back to the main settings menu and find a new section for developers.
- Activate the USB Debugging Switch (required for some methods).
- Now you can use ADB or special apps to fine-tune the font.
If none of the methods worked, check firmware integrity:
- Go to Settings → About the phone → System update.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select Update Checker.
- If an update is available, install it. If the system says "No Updates" but you suspect a failure, download the latest version of MIUI for your model from the official Xiaomi website and install it manually through System Update → Select a firmware file.
