Xiaomi aerogrilis are some of the most popular kitchen gadgets, thanks to a combination of functionality and smart technology. However, many users face the problem that after buying the device displays menus in Chinese or English, and Russian is not on the list, which makes it difficult to choose cooking modes, adjust the timer or temperature.
In this article, we will explore all possible ways to install Russian in Xiaomi air grills, from official methods through the Mi Home app to alternative solutions for models without localization support, and learn why Russian can be absent from the menu and how to circumvent this restriction without risking damage to the device.
Important: the procedure may vary depending on the model of aerogrill (Mi Air Fryer 3.5L, Smart Air Fryer Pro, Mi Smart Air Fryer 4L, etc.) and the firmware version. We will consider universal instructions that are relevant to most devices of the brand.
1. Check the current version of firmware and model of aerogrill
Before trying to change the language, make sure your model supports Russian localization. Some early versions of Xiaomi air grills (for example, released before 2021) may not have Russian at all.
To check the model and firmware version:
- π± Open the Mi Home app on your smartphone.
- π Find your aerogrill in the list of devices and go to its settings.
- π The About or About section will specify the model (e.g, DMF01, DMF02) and firmware version (e.g, 1.2.5_0043).
π‘
If the model name has the letter R (for example, Mi Air Fryer 3.5L R), this means the version for the Russian market - in it the Russian language is usually set by default.
Also, pay attention to the region of purchase of the device:
| Purchasing region | The probability of Russian support | Typical default languages |
|---|---|---|
| Russia/CIS (official sales) | 95% | Russian, English |
| China (AliExpress, official website of Xiaomi CN) | 30% | Chinese, English |
| Europe (Amazon, eBay) | 70% | English, German, French |
| South-East Asia | 10% | Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese |
If your model doesnβt support Russian, donβt despair β in the section on alternative methods we will tell you how to get around this restriction.
2.Official method: change the language through the Mi Home app
The most reliable method is to change the language through the Mi Home app, which works for most modern models (Mi Air Fryer 3.5L, Smart Air Fryer Pro, Mi Smart Air Fryer 4L, etc.) if they support Russian localization.
Step-by-step:
Connect the air grill to Wi-Fi and sync with Mi Home|
Open the device card in the app |
Go to Settings β Device Language |
Select Russian from the list |
Confirm the change and wait for the reboot (1-2 minute)-->
If there is no Russian in the list of languages, follow the following steps:
- Update the Mi Home app to the latest version in Google Play or App Store.
- Update the firmware of the aerogrilla through the section About the device β Software update.
- Check the region of your account in Mi Home: π Go to Profile. β Settings β Region. π·πΊ Choose Russia (if available).
Through Wi-Fi|
Through Bluetooth|
Through QR-code|
Another way.-->
Important: If after changing the language in the application, the aerogrill continues to display the menu in Chinese, try to turn off and reconnect the device in Mi Home - this often resets the cache of settings.
Manual language change in the aerogrill menu (without the app)
Some Xiaomi models allow you to change the language directly on the device itself, a method that is suitable if you do not have access to a smartphone or problems connecting to the Mi Home.
Instructions for touchscreen models (e.g. Mi Smart Air Fryer Pro):
- Press and hold the Menu button (or icon) βοΈ) within 3 seconds.
- In the menu, find the item with the icon π (It's usually a language or ).
- Scroll through the list of languages (use the +/- or touch screen buttons).
- Select Russian (or Russian) and confirm the choice with the OK button.
Instructions for models with mechanical buttons (e.g. Mi Air Fryer 3.5L):
- π Hold the Power button (on/off) for 5 seconds until the indicator flashes.
- ποΈ Press the Menu button 3 times in a row and it will open the hidden menu.
- π’ Use the Time buttons (+/β) picking out a flag or globe.

What to do if there is no Russian language on the menu?
β οΈ Note: On some models (DMF01 In the early installments, trying to change the language through the menu can cause you to reset all user settings.
4. Update firmware to add Russian
If your aerogrill doesnβt support Russian out of the box, but the model is relatively new (released after 2022), chances are that the language can be added through a firmware update.
How to update firmware:
- π± Open Mi Home and select your aerogrill.
- π Go to Settings. β About the device β Update of the PO.
- π₯ If a new version is available, click Update and wait until the process is completed (it will take 5-10 minutes).
- π After the update, restart the device (turn off and turn on the power).
If the update doesnβt appear automatically, try:
- π Change the region in Mi Home to Russia or China (sometimes updates are released earlier for the Chinese region).
- π΅ Shut down. VPN, If it is enabled, it can block access to update servers.
- π Connect the air grill to another Wi-Fi network (e.g., a mobile access point).
π‘
Updating your firmware is the safest way to add Russian, but requires a stable Internet connection. Don't interrupt the update process, otherwise the device may stop turning on.
β οΈ Note: On Mi Air Fryer models with firmware version below 1.0.0_0030 Attempting to force updates through third-party files can cause a device to break down!
5. Alternative methods, if there is no Russian language
If none of the official methods worked, and Russian is critical, you can use workarounds, which do not change the firmware, but help you to use the device comfortably.
Method 1: Using a real-time translator
- π± Install on your smartphone an interpreter app with the function of Translate through the camera (for example, Google Translate or Yandex).
- πΈ Point the camera at the screen of the air grill - the text will be recognized and translated in real time.
- π Save translations of frequently used menu items in bookmarks.
Method 2: Creating a custom "cheat sheet"
Take a picture of all the screens of the air grill menu and hand-sign them in Russian.
π₯ (fire icon) = Temperature
β±οΈ (timer icon) = Cooking time
π (Chicken icon) = Roasting Mode
π (Potato icon) = Free ModeMethod 3: Connect via smart speakers (for voice-enabled models)
Some Xiaomi aerogrills (such as Smart Air Fryer Pro) are compatible with Alice or Google Assistant. You can control the device with voice in Russian, even if the menu on the screen is displayed in English.
β οΈ Warning: When using translators or voice assistants, be careful with temperature-related commands. e.g. 200Β°C in Chinese can be translated as 200.Β°F (equal to ~93Β°C), which will lead to a lack of preparation of the dish.
6. Resetting and reconnecting the device
If the language hasn't changed after all the manipulations, try resetting the air grill completely, which will bring the device back to factory settings and sometimes help unlock hidden languages.
How to reset your settings:
- Disconnect the air grill from the power grid.
- Hold the Power button (on/off) and simultaneously connect the device to the outlet.
- Hold the button for another 10 seconds until all the indicators blink.
- Release the button and the device will reset (to take ~30 seconds).
After discharge:
- π Connect the aerogrill to Mi Home again (as with the first switch on).
- π When linking the device, select the region of Russia.
- π± Check the presence of Russian in the settings.
If the reset didnβt work, itβs possible your model doesnβt support Russian hardware, in which case you can either use alternative methods (see section 5) or contact Xiaomiβs support team to add localization to future updates.
π‘
Before reset, take a picture of the current settings (time, temperature for your favorite recipes) β after reset, you will have to adjust them again.
7.Advocacy for Xiaomi: How to Request Addition of Russian
If your aerogrill doesnβt support Russian, but you want to be fixed, you can send an official request to support Xiaomi, and the more users request localization, the higher the chance that it will be added in the next update.
How to make a request correctly:
- π§ Contact support email: support@mi.com (for the global version or support.ru@mi.com (for the Russian region).
