The alarm icon in Xiaomiβs status bar can be annoying even if you donβt plan on waking up on the signal. Itβs displayed constantly β on a locked screen, in the notification panel, and even when the sound is turned off. Unlike other manufacturers, MIUI doesnβt always allow you to hide this icon with standard means. The reasons for the iconβs appearance vary from an activated alarm clock in the Watch app to system failures after an update.
In this article, we will discuss all the working ways to remove the icon, from the basic (cancel alarm clock) to radical (reset settings). The methods are tested on the Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and POCO X5 with MIUI 14/15, but will also work for older versions. If you see the icon, but the alarm clock does not ring, the problem may be hidden in Google Clock or third-party applications. Next you will learn how to check this.
Why does the alarm clock appear on Xiaomi?
The alarm clock icon (β°) The top panel is not just a wake-up time reminder, it signals an active timer in the system that can be triggered:
- πΉ The Standard Watch app β even if you canceled the alarm clock, it could have been saved in the background.
- πΉ Google Clock β syncs with your account and works in parallel with your account MIUI.
- πΉ Third-party apps (e.g. Sleep as Android, Alarmy).
- πΉ System failure - after the update MIUI or reset.
On Xiaomi with MIUI 12 and later, the icon can remain even after all alarms are removed, due to the feature of the shell: it caches notifications about timers. In some cases, the icon disappears only after rebooting the device or manually cleaning the cache of the Watch application.
Method 1: Cancel all alarm clocks in the standard app
Start with the obvious: check if the alarm clock is activated in the native Watch app. Even if you haven't set it, MIUI sometimes sets the alarm clock automatically (for example, after setting up the device or syncing with Mi Account).
Instructions:
- Open the Clock app (icon with dial).
- Go to the Alarming Sign (bell icon at the bottom).
- Check the list: If there are active alarm clocks, turn them off (slider on the right).
- Remove unnecessary ones by pressing the alarm and selecting Remove.
After that, the icon should disappear within 1-2 minutes. If not, restart the smartphone. Some models (Redmi 9A, POCO M3) require additional clearing of the cache of the Watch application:
Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management
Find the Watch and select the Warehouse
Click Clear Cache and Clear Data (WARNING: This Will Reset All Alarms!)
Reset the device
-->
β οΈ Note: If you use Mi Account to sync, the alarm clocks can be restored after the data is cleared.
Method 2: Checking Google Clock and other apps
Google Clock is the second most popular alarm app on Xiaomi, which is set by default on many models (especially Android One, like the Mi A3) and can conflict with MIUI. Even if you don't use it, it could activate the alarm in the background.
How to check:
- π Open Google Clock (Icon with a green dial).
- π Go to the Alarm tab and turn off all active timers.
- π Go to Settings. β Annexes β Google Clock β Notifications and disable the option to Show icons.
Also check third-party sleep/alarms apps, such as Sleep as Android, which can leave an icon in the notification bar even after the signal is canceled.
- Open the app and cancel all alarms.
- Go to the application settings and find the Notifications or Icons section.
- Turn off the option to Show in the status bar (the name may differ).
How do you find hidden alarm clocks?
Method 3: Reset the settings of the βClockβ application
If previous methods failed, the problem may be the damaged settings of the Watch app, in which case the factory reset (without deleting personal data) will help.
Instructions:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management β Watch.
- Select Warehouse. β Clear all data.
- Confirm the action. It will remove all alarm clocks and timers.
- Reset the device.
On some MIUI firmware (e.g., the global version for the Redmi Note 10 Pro), the data reset doesnβt help. In this case, try rolling back the Watch app update via Settings β Apps β Three Dots β Reverse updates.
β οΈ Note: After a reset, the Watch app can update automatically via Google Play. To avoid this, turn off auto-update for it in the Play Store settings.
Method 4: Disable alarm notifications in MIUI
MIUI 13/14/15 has a hidden option to hide the alarm icon without canceling the timer itself, which is suitable if you want to keep the alarm active but remove the icon from the notification panel.
How to do this:
- Open Settings β Notifications and Status bar β Notification management.
- Find the Watch in the list and click on it.
- Turn off the button on the lock screen.
- Also turn off the display notification icons (if any).
Some firmware (Xiaomi.eu, custom builds) may not have this item, so try an alternative route:
- π± Go to Settings. β Lock screen β Lock screen style.
- π± Select Set Up β Notifications and turn off display for the Watch.
π‘
If the alarm icon only appears on a locked screen, but disappears after unlocking, the problem is in the lock screen settings. Try changing the lock style to the standard one (without widgets).
Method 5: Radical measures β system reset or ADB
If neither of these methods works, there are two extreme options: resetting the settings to factory settings or turning off the icon via ADB. The first method is guaranteed to delete all system alarms, but your data will be erased, and the second requires computer skills.
Reset to factory settings:
- π§ Make a backup of the data through Settings β The phone. β Backup.
- π§ Go to Settings. β Additionally. β Resetting settings β Erase all data.
- π§ Confirm the action and wait for the reboot.
Disconnecting via ADB (for advanced users):
This method removes the alarm clock icon at the system level.
- Install ADB on your computer and connect your smartphone in debugging mode (Settings β About Phone β MIUI Version β 7 times press to activate the developer mode, then turn on Debugging over USB).
- Open the command line and enter:
adb shell settings put global alarm_icon_visibility 0After the reboot, the icon should disappear. To return it back, use the same command with 1 instead of 0.
β οΈ Attention: Teams ADB This method can cause system instability if entered incorrectly. Do not use this method on devices with an unlocked bootloader unless you are sure of your actions.

Resetting is the last option. Try all the other methods before you do, as it can take a long time to recover the data.
Table: Comparison of methods for removing alarm clock icon
| Method | Difficulty | Time. | Efficiency | Risks. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel the clock alarm clock | β | 1-2 minutes | Tall. | No. |
