How to remove notes from the screen Xiaomi: a complete guide for all models

Notes on the screen of Xiaomi smartphone are a useful feature for quick reminders, but sometimes they turn into real chaos. Note widgets, stickers from Mi Notes or randomly created notes on the lock screen can interfere, take up space and even slow down the system, especially annoying when after updating MIUI old notes suddenly return or duplicate.

In this article, weโ€™ll look at all the possible ways to delete notes, from standard methods through settings to hidden features and reset widgets. Instructions are relevant for Xiaomi Redmi Note 10/11/12/13, POCO F/X/M, Mi 11/12/13 and other devices on MIUI 12-15. If you tried to erase a note with a swipe, but it keeps coming back, here you will find a solution.

Important: Some methods require administrator rights or access to ADB. We have marked such cases with special warnings so that you can choose the most secure method for your level of training.

1. Delete notes through the standard MIUI menu

The easiest way to get rid of unnecessary notes is to use built-in MIUI tools, which works for Mi Notes widgets, desktop stickers, and lock screen notes.

Open the screen where the note is displayed. If it's a desktop, make a long press on the note widget. At the top of the screen, a Remove button will appear -- drag the widget there.

  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Unlock your phone and go to Settings โ†’ Lock screen.
  • ๐Ÿ“ Find the Notes section on the lock screen (in some firmware it is called Lock Widgets).
  • ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Slip on the note and select Remove or disable the slider next to Show notes.

If the note is not deleted by swipe or menu, it may be linked to your Mi Account account, in which case try the following method.

2. Clean up the cache and data of the Mi Notes application

Sometimes notes continue to be displayed even after being deleted due to a malfunction of the Mi Notes app (or Notes in Russian firmware), in which case the applicationโ€™s data reset will help:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Applications โ†’ Application Management.
  2. Find Mi Notes (or Notes) in the list and tap it.
  3. Select Warehouse โ†’ Clear the data and confirm the action.
  4. Reset the device.

Warning: This method will delete all notes, including those that aren't displayed on the screen. If you need important entries, pre-export them to Google Keep or another service.

After cleaning the data, the note widgets will disappear from the screen, but they can be added again through the widget menu (Long Click on the desktop โ†’ Widgets โ†’ Mi Notes).

3. Removal via ADB (for power users)

If notes are โ€œenteredโ€ into the system and are not deleted by standard methods, disabling widgets through ADB will help. This method requires connecting the phone to a computer and basic command line knowledge.

First, turn on USB debugging:

  1. Go to Settings. โ†’ The phone.
  2. Tap 7 times on the MIUI version to activate Developer Mode.
  3. Back to Settings โ†’ Additionally. โ†’ For developers.
  4. Activate Debugging on USB.

Now connect your phone to your PC and execute the following commands in the terminal (cmd or PowerShell):

adb shell

pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.notes

This command will completely remove the Mi Notes app for the current user, including all notes and widgets. To return the app, just reinstall it through the Mi App Store.

What if the ADB does not recognize the device?
Make sure that Xiaomi USB Drivers are installed (you can download it on the official website). Also check that the developer settings have enabled the USB Debugging (security options) option and you have given permission to connect to your computer when a request appears on your phone.

โš ๏ธ Attention: Use ADB It can cause a system to be unstable if you give the wrong commands. Don't do this unless you're sure you're doing it.

4. Resetting desktop widgets

If the notes are displayed as desktop widgets and are not removed in the standard way, you can reset the launcher settings, which will return the desktop to its factory appearance, but will not affect the applications and data.

Follow the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Applications โ†’ Application Management.
  2. Find the MIUI Launcher (or MIUI Launcher) and open its settings.
  3. Select Warehouse. โ†’ Clear the data.
  4. Confirm the action and wait for the launcher to restart.

Once reset, all widgets, including notes, will disappear, and you can add them back manually if you need them, which also helps if the widgets freeze or start to duplicate after the MIUI update.

5. Disable Note Synchronization with Mi Account

If your notes are constantly coming back after you delete them, the problem may be syncing with the Mi Account cloud, so you can turn it off so that your notes don't automatically recover.

  1. Open the Mi Notes app.
  2. Tap the three-point menu (โ‹ฎ) top-right.
  3. Select Settings โ†’ Synchronization.
  4. Turn off the sync slider with Mi Account.

Then delete the notes again. They should not reappear after the reboot. If you want to save the notes in the cloud but remove them from the screen, use manual widget control (see section 1).

๐Ÿ’ก

Before you turn off sync, export notes to.txt or.zip through the Settings โ†’ Export menu in the Mi Notes app.

On some firmware (MIUI 14+ for the global version), synchronization of notes can be linked to Google Account, in which case, disable it in the settings of your Google account (Settings โ†’ Accounts โ†’ Google โ†’ Account Sync).

6.Verification for viruses and malicious widgets

Rarely, however, "non-deletable notes" are the consequences of malware masquerading as system widgets. If none of the above methods worked, check:

  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Install an antivirus (such as Dr.Web or Malwarebytes) and scan your device.
  • ๐Ÿ” Check the list of installed applications in Settings โ†’ Note suspicious programs with names like Notes Widget, Sticky Memo or Quick Notes.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Launch your phone in Safe Mode (click the power button) โ†’ Safe Mode. If the notes are gone, the problem is with third-party software.

If you find a suspicious app, remove it and reset the widgets (see section 4). In extreme cases, you may need to reset to factory settings, but only resort to this if other methods have not worked.

โš ๏ธ Note: Some note widgets from malware may be disguised as system processes (e.g. com.android.notes). Only remove applications you are sure of or ask for help on the forum 4PDA.

๐Ÿ’ก

If notes appear after a reboot or MIUI update, first check the device for viruses, and then try to disable sync with Mi Account.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do the notes come back after they are deleted?
This is due to synchronization with Mi Account or Google Account. Turn off automatic sync in the Mi Notes app settings (see section 5). Also check if the phone has a third-party note-taking app that conflicts with the system one.
Can I delete notes without removing the Mi Notes app itself?
Yes, use standard long-press removal (section 1) or widget reset (section 4). If notes are tied to the lock screen, turn them off in Settings โ†’ Lock screen โ†’ Widgets.
How to return deleted notes if they were important?
If you have been clearing Mi Notes data, you can only restore notes from a backup (if it was created). Check the MIUI/backup/Notes folder in internal memory or the Mi Cloud (Backups section). Also try data recovery tools like DiskDigger or EaseUS MobiSaver.
Why do you see notes in Chinese on the lock screen?
This may be due to a Chinese firmware installation (China ROM) or system failure. Try changing the system language to English/Russian in Settings โ†’ Additional โ†’ Language and Input. If the problem persists, reset the widgets (section 4) or scrolle through the global version of MIUI.
Can I turn off the lock screen forever?
Yes, for that, go to Settings โ†’ Lock screen โ†’ Widgets and disable the slider next to Notes. You can also remove the Notes widget through lock screen editing (swipe down on lock screen โ†’ Edit โ†’ remove the widget).
