Advertising in Xiaomi Redmi smartphones is one of the most annoying features of MIUI firmware. Even after personalized ads are turned off in the settings, banners continue to appear in the app menu, browser, launcher and even in notification panels. The reason lies in the deep integration of msa and MiuiSystemAdSolution ad modules into system services. In this article, we will examine all available methods, from official to hidden, which work on the Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11 and other lines of 2020-2026.
The content in this article is relevant to MIUI 14/15 (including global and Chinese versions). If you use custom firmware like Pixel Experience or LineageOS, there are no ads there by default โ the problem is only with stock software. Importantly, no method requires root rights, but some will require a PC connection.
We warn you right away: complete removal of ads without consequences is possible only on global versions of MIUI (EEA/Global). On Chinese firmware (China ROM), some methods can lead to malfunctions in system applications. If you are not sure about the version, check in Settings โ About Phone โ MIUI version.
1. Officially disabling advertising in MIUI settings
The first step is to use the built-in MIUI tools. Unfortunately, they only remove a portion of the ads, but it's safe and takes less than a minute.
Go to: Settings โ Memory โ Clean (bottom tab) โ Settings (cog in the upper right corner) โ Disable recommendations.
This is the way MIUI 14/15 works. In older versions (e.g. MIUI 12), the menu may be called differently, look for "Recommendations" or "Personalized Advertising".
Please check further:
- ๐ฑ Launcher: Clip the empty space on the main screen โ Home screen settings โ Turn off "Recommended Content" and "Weather/News".
- ๐ Mi Browser: Open the browser โ Settings โ Confidentiality โ Turn off "Personalized recommendations" and "Show news on the home page".
- ๐ Security Center: Settings โ Annexes โ Application management โ Security โ Turn off "Recommendations" and "Security Notices".
These actions will remove ~60% of ads, but banners will remain in:
- ๐ Search bar on the main screen;
- ๐ Menu "All Appendices" (folder "Recommended");
- โ๏ธ Settings of some system applications (for example, Mi Video or Mi Music).
โ ๏ธ Note: On the Chinese versions MIUI (China ROM) The item "Disable recommendations" may not be available, in which case proceed immediately to the following methods.
2. resetting of the advertising ID (Advertising ID)
Each Xiaomi device is assigned a unique Advertising ID, which is used for targeted advertising, and resetting it will not remove banners completely, but will make them less intrusive.
Instructions:
- Open Settings โ Google โ Advertising (if there is no item, skip the step).
- Click "Reset Advertising ID" and confirm.
- Go back to Settings โ Applications โ Application Management.
- Find the Google Play Services app โ Storage โ Clear Data.
After the device is rebooted, the ads will become less personalized, but not completely gone.This method works on all Redmi models, including the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Redmi K40.
๐ก
If after resetting the ad returned after 1-2 days, repeat the procedure and further disable in Settings โ Accounts โ Google synchronization of data "Advertising".
3. Disabling advertising services through ADB (without root)
The most effective way is to disable the system packages responsible for displaying ads using ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which works on all versions of MIUI, but requires a connection to a PC.
What you need:
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux;
- ๐ USB-cable (preferably original);
- ๐ฅ ADB Tools (download and unpack in a separate folder);
- ๐ฑ On a smartphone: Settings โ The phone. โ Version. MIUI (Press 7 times to turn on "Developer Mode").
Step-by-step:
- Turn on your phone: Settings โ Additional โ For developers โ Debugging by USB.
- Connect Redmi to your PC and select File Transfer Mode.
- Open the command line (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) in the adb folder.
- Enter in turn (after each click Enter): adb devices (you should see your device; if not, check the drivers). adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.systemAdSolution adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.midrop adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.analytics
Once done, restart your phone. The ads will disappear from:
- ๐ฑ Main screen and application menu;
- โ๏ธ System settings (Mi Video, Mi Music, Cleaner);
- ๐ Search string.
โ ๏ธ Note: On some models (Redmi 9, Redmi Note 8), disabling com.miui.analytics may cause Mi Cloud malfunctions. If sync stops working, turn the packet back on with the command: adb shell pm enable com.miui.analytics

Check the connection with the command `adb devices`|
4. Removing Advertising through Hidden MIUI Settings
MIUI has hidden menus that allow you to disable advertising modules without ADB. The method works on MIUI 12-15, but requires care.
Instructions:
- Open the Phone app and enter the code: ##4636## Select Phone Information.
- Scroll down and find "MIUI Optimization" (or "MIUI Optimization"). Click on it.
- Turn off the menu that opens: ๐ "MIUI Optimization" (master switch); ๐ข "Advertisement" (if any); ๐ "Search Recommendations".
Save the changes and restart the phone.
After that, they'll disappear:
- ๐ฑ Advertising banners in the folder "Recommended" on the main screen;
- ๐ Pop-up notifications from Mi Browser and Cleaner;
- ๐ต Advertising in the Mi Music app (if you use it).
Disabling MIUI Optimization can cause minor bugs in animations and gestures. If you notice lags, return the settings.

5. Alternative launchers and circumvention of system constraints
If previous methods didnโt work, you can completely replace the standard MIUI launcher with a third-party one, which will remove ads from the home screen and app menu, but will not affect system notifications.
The best options for Xiaomi Redmi:
| Launcher | Pluses | Cons | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nova Launcher | โ Full customizationโ No advertising.โ lightweight | โ Paid (Premium version)โ No integration with MIUI-chip | Google Play |
| Hyperion Launcher | โ Free.โ Sign support MIUIโ Dark subject matter | โ Rare notification bugsโ Less customization than in Nova | Google Play |
| Lawnchair 2 | โ Open source codeโ Android support 13/14โ No advertising. | โ Tough setupโ No Russian language | Official website |
How to determine:
- Download the launcher from Google Play.
- Open it and select "Always use this launcher" (will appear when you first start).
- In the settings of the new launcher, turn off: ๐ฑ "Show recommendationsโ (if any); ๐ "News on the main screen".
This won't remove ads from system applications (Mi Browser, Cleaner), but it will make them less visible. ADB-teams from Section 3.
๐ก
Replacing the launcher is the only way to remove ads from the Recommended folder 100%, and system methods only hide them, but do not remove them completely.
6. Blocking Advertising via DNS or VPN
If you see ads in your browser or apps, you can block them at the network level.
- ๐ DNS-servers: redirect requests to ad domains to โnowhere";
- ๐ VPN Ad-Blocking: Filtering traffic on the fly.
Method 1: Changing the DNS
- Go to Settings โ Connections โ Private DNS.
- Select "Private DNS Host Name" and type in: dns.adguard.com or 1.1.1.3 (DNS from Cloudflare with ad-blocking).
- Save and restart the phone.
Method 2: VPN with ad blocking
Install one of the applications:
- ๐ก๏ธ AdGuard (Free version with restrictions);
- ๐ Blokada (blocks ads without ads) VPN-server);
- ๐ NextDNS (allows you to customize filters).
These methods remove advertising in:
- ๐ Browser (Mi Browser, Chrome, Firefox);
- ๐ฎ Banner games;
- ๐ฑ Some third-party apps (such as Facebook, Instagram).
โ ๏ธ Attention: Use VPN It can slow down your Internet connection by 10 to 30 percent, and if you're speeding critical, you can choose a changeable method. DNS.
7.Extreme measures: flashing to custom MIUI or AOSP
If nothing works, it leaves a complete firmware replacement, which is suitable for power users, as it requires unlocking the bootloader and potentially depriving them of warranty.
Firmware options:
- ๐ฑ MIUI Advertising-free: modified versions of stock firmware (e.g, MIUI EU or MIUI All ads removed, but functionality saved MIUI.
- ๐ค AOSP (Android Open Source Project: "clean" Android without Xiaomi's signature chips (Pixel Experience, LineageOS, ArrowOS: ๐ธ Camera (without ported GCam); ๐ Fast charging; ๐ง Sound in headphones (on some models).
How to stitch:
- Unlock the bootloader through the Mi Unlock Tool (requires a Mi Account and wait 7-15 days).
- Download the firmware from the XDA Developers or MIUI EU forum.
- Install it via TWRP or Fastboot (instructions depend on the model).
Advantages:
- โ No advertising forever;
- โ More opportunities for customization;
- โ Regular updates (for the AOSP-firmware).
Disadvantages:
- โ Loss of guarantee;
- โ Risk of โbrickingโ in case of error;
- โ Possible bugs with iron (camera, sensors).
