The lock screen on Xiaomi smartphones is not just a protection against accidental clicks, but also an information panel that displays weather, calendar, steps or notifications. However, not all users like these elements: they take up space, distract or even discharge the battery due to background activity. If you want to clear the lock screen of unnecessary widgets, this article will help to understand all the nuances.
The process of removing widgets depends on the version of MIUI (12 to 14), the model of the smartphone (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Xiaomi 13T, etc.) and even on the regional firmware. Some of the time, a couple of clicks will be enough, and in some cases you will have to dig into hidden settings. We reviewed all the current ways, including bypassing restrictions on new versions of MIUI, where the manufacturer removed direct removal options.
Important: some widgets (such as Mi Fit or Weather) can return after a system update, and at the end of the article you will find instructions on how to block them forever.
Why do widgets appear on the lock screen?
By default, Xiaomi adds widgets to the lock screen for user convenience, but not everyone uses them.
- 📱 Firmware MIUI: In the newer versions (especially) MIUI 14) weather and calendar widgets are activated by default when the smartphone is first turned on.
- 🔄 System Updates: After Update MIUI Sometimes the lock screen settings are reset and the widgets are returned.
- 🎯 Advertising integrations: On budget models (Redmi) 10A, POCO M5) Widgets may be part of service partnerships (e.g. Booking.com or AliExpress).
- 📊 Sync with Mi Account: If you are logged in to Mi Account, some widgets (such as Mi Fit) are automatically downloaded from the cloud.
Interesting fact: on smartphones for the Chinese market (China ROM), widgets on the lock screen can often not be removed without root rights, whereas in global versions (Global ROM) this option is usually left.
Method 1: Remove widgets through lock screen settings (MIUI 12–14)
This is the simplest and most official method that works on most Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models with global firmware. Instructions are relevant for MIUI 12, 13 and 14, but in some regional versions menu items may differ.
What needs to be done:
- Open Settings → Lock screen (or Lock and Protection on some models).
- Select the lock screen widgets (in) MIUI 14 may be referred to as the Locking Elements).
- You'll see a list of active widgets. Click on the basket icon (🗑️) near-needle.
- Confirm the deletion by pressing OK in the dialog box.
If you don't have lock screen widgets on the menu, your version of MIUI doesn't support that solution.

⚠️ Note: On some models (Redmi Note 11 Pro)+, Xiaomi 12 Lite) after removing widgets through settings they can return after rebooting. MIUI 13, which is corrected only in MIUI 14.
Method 2: Disabling widgets through "Developer Mode"
If standard settings don’t work, you can use hidden developer mode options, which even works on Chinese firmware (China ROM), where the manufacturer limits user settings.
Algorithm of action:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone. Click 7 times in a row on the MIUI Version until you become a developer!

Once you execute the commands, restart your smartphone. The widgets will disappear, but turning them back on will require re-entering commands with unhide instead of hide.

⚠️ Attention: Misuse of the right ADB Do not disable packets that you do not know the purpose of. For example, the command adb shell pm hide com.android.systemui will cause the interface to be completely inoperable.

Before working with ADB, create a restore point in TWRP (if a custom Recovery is installed), which will help return the system to working condition if you make an error.
Method 4: Use of third-party launchers (bypassing MIUI restrictions)
