The upgrade to MIUI 14 brought Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO users not only new features, but also enhanced integration of banner ads β in the settings menu, on the lock screen, in system applications and even in the notification panel. The manufacturer positions this as βpersonalized recommendationsβ, but for most owners it is an annoying element that slows down the smartphone and eats traffic. Fortunately, there are several ways to get rid of intrusive advertising β from standard settings to advanced methods using ADB.
In this article, weβll look at 5 proven methods that work on all MIUI 14 devices (including Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12, POCO F5 and other models). Importantly, some methods require minimal technical skills, but they are all safe for the system and do not violate the warranty. If you are willing to spend 10-15 minutes to forget about advertising forever, read on.
1. disable personalized advertising in MIUI settings
The easiest and most official way is to deactivate the options associated with targeted advertising directly in the smartphone menu, which will not remove all banners (for example, in system utilities like Security or Themes they can remain), but will significantly reduce their number.
Here's what we need to do:
- π± Open the Settings. β Google β Advertising and disabling the option of Personalized Ads** (if active) will block targeting based on your data in Google services.
- π§ Return to the main Settings menu, go to About Phone β Version. MIUI and tap 7 times on the line with the version to activate the developer mode.
- π‘οΈ Now go to Settings. β Additionally. β Special facilities β Advertisements and recommendations and deactivate all switches (including βRecommendationsβ) MIUIΒ» and βPersonalized servicesΒ»).
After these actions, ads in the Weather, Calendar and some other apps will disappear, but banners in Themes or Security may remain.
2. Removal of Advertising through ADB (no root rights)
If standard settings didnβt work, the next step is to use Android Debug Bridge (ADB), an official tool from Google that lets you manage system settings without getting root permissions. The method works on all Xiaomi devices with MIUI 14 and does not require unlocking the bootloader.
You'll need:
- π» Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux and installed Xiaomi drivers.
- π USB-cable (preferably original).
- π₯ ADB Tools (download and unpack in a separate folder).
Instructions:
- Turn on your smartphone debugging over USB (Settings β About Phone β MIUI Version β 7 taps β Settings β Additional β For developers β Debugging over USB).
- Connect your phone to your PC and open the command line in the ADB folder (Shift + right mouse button β βOpen PowerShell window hereβ).
- Enter the following commands in turn (after each click Enter and confirm the action on the phone): adb devices adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.systemAdSolution
This command disables the system module responsible for displaying ads.
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.midrop
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.analyticsInstall Xiaomi drivers on PC
Download and unpack ADB Tools
Enable debugging over USB on your phone
Connect your phone to the original cable
Start the command line on behalf of the administrator-->
β οΈ Attention: After update MIUI Some of the modules that are disabled may be activated again.
3. Use of third-party utilities (without root)
If working with ADB seems difficult, you can use specialized applications, which automate the process of disabling advertising, but require caution β download software only from trusted sources (for example, 4PDA).
The best tools for MIUI 14:
| Annex | Functions | Reference | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| MIUI Hidden Settings | Disables advertising in system menus and applications | 4PDA | It doesn't require rut, but you need rights. ADB |
| Disable MIUI Ads | Blocks banners in Topics, Security, Weather | GitHub | Works through ADB, open source code |
| App Ops | Deep permissions setup for system applications | Google Play | Requires inclusion through ADB |
Examples of MIUI Hidden Settings:
- Download and install. APK-file.
- Open the app and provide access via ADB (instructions will appear on the screen).
- In the Advertising section** disable all switches related to msa, analytics and systemAdSolution.
β οΈ Note: Some utilities (such as App Ops) may conflict with updates MIUI. Before use, back up your data through Settings. β System system β Backup.
4. Root Methods: Complete removal of advertising modules
If you are willing to take drastic measures, obtaining root rights will open access to removing system packages responsible for advertising, which is suitable for advanced users, since it requires unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recap (for example, TWRP).
After unlocking the bootloader, the Xiaomi smartphone is automatically reset to factory settings - save all data in advance!
List of ad packs to remove (via TWRP or Root Explorer):
- ποΈ com.miui.systemAdSolution β the main module of advertising in the MIUI.
- ποΈ com.xiaomi.midrop β file sharing service with advertising.
- ποΈ com.miui.analytics β collecting statistics for targeting.

Instructions for TWRP:
- Download TWRP for your model.
- Install the recoveries via fastboot flash recovery twrp.img.
- Download to TWRP (Power + Vol Up buttons) and select Advanced β File Manager.
- Go to /system/priv-app/ and delete the folders with the names from the list above.
What happens if you remove the wrong package?
5. Alternative firmware: switching to AOSP or custom builds
If the fight against advertising in MIUI 14 seems endless, the radical solution is to install an alternative firmware based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
- π± LineageOS β pure Android without unnecessary add-ons.
- π± Pixel Experience β firmware with Google Pixel features.
- π± ArrowOS β Optimized build with advanced settings.
- π± Xiaomi.eu β modified MIUI No Advertising (but with weekly updates).
Advantages of custom firmware:
- β Complete absence of advertising and system spam.
- β Higher productivity (no background processes) MIUI).
- β Regular security updates.
Disadvantages:
- β Loss of warranty (if the bootloader is unlocked).
- β Possible bugs with camera or sensors (depending on model).
- β Lack of some Xiaomi branded features (e.g. Game Turbo).
For installation instructions, look for the 4PDA or XDA-Developers forums. First, try Xiaomi.eu, which is the most stable option with most MIUI features.
π‘
Before installing custom firmware, check the support for your model on the developerβs website. For example, LineageOS officially supports only a limited list of Xiaomi devices (for example, Mi A2, POCO F1).
6. Additional tips: how to minimize advertising without technical manipulation
If you donβt want to mess with settings or risk the stability of the system, use these life hacks:
- π Use alternative launchers (like Nova Launcher or Lawnchair) to replace the standard desktop. MIUI, where advertising widgets are often displayed.
- π Block the domains of advertising through DNS. Set it in the network settings DNS-AdGuard server (176.103.130.130 and 176.103.130.131) will block some banners at the system level.
- π΅ Turn off mobile data for system applications. Go to Settings β Annexes β App management, select Topics, Security or Weather, and deny them access to the Internet.
- π Install an ad blocker (like Blokada or AdGuard) these apps create local ads. VPN filtering out advertising requests.
These methods wonβt eliminate ads completely, but they will make them less intrusive, such as a DNS blocker cutting off banners in the browser and some system utilities, and a Thame Internet shutdown will stop new advertising material from downloading.

Combination DNS-filtering and disabling personalized advertising in the settings gives the result close to the complete removal of banners in 70-80% of cases.
