Changing the wallpaper on Xiaomi smartphones is one of the first things that users want to do after buying a device. Even standard background images from MIUI or HyperOS look stylish, but a personal photo, abstract drawing or thematic picture makes the phone unique. However, not everyone knows that Xiaomi can change the wallpaper not only on the home screen, but also in the app menu, on the lock screen - and even animated!
In this article, we’ll look at all the current ways to change wallpaper on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones, from standard MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS tools to hidden features and third-party apps. 1. Standard method: through "Settings" and "Themes"
The easiest method is to use the built-in MIUI or HyperOS tools. It is suitable for all models, from the budget Redmi 10A to the flagship Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The main advantage is that you do not need to install additional applications, and the wallpaper is optimized for the screen resolution of your smartphone.
To change the wallpaper through the settings:
- Open the Themes app (icon with brush and palette).
- Go to the Wallpaper tab in the lower menu.
- Select a category: 🌄 Recommended - a selection from Xiaomi taking into account your model. 📁 My wallpaper - here are stored the images you uploaded. 🎨 Live wallpaper - animated backgrounds (not available on all models). 🔄 Synchronization with the weather – wallpaper changes depending on the time of day and weather.

If the function is not working, check:

On some firmware (e.g. Xiaomi.eu), weather synchronization may not work properly, in which case try resetting the themes or manually installing wallpaper through the Gallery.

If you don't have enough built-in wallpaper in MIUI, you can use third-party apps.
