The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro lock screen displays default notifications - convenient for quick access to information, but not always secure.Confidential messaging from instant messengers, work emails or personal reminders can be seen by outsiders if you leave your phone unattended. Fortunately, MIUI offers several ways to hide or limit the display of notifications on a locked screen.

We’ll also look at how the Redmi Note 10 Pro functions, with MIUI 12/13/14 versions in mind, and what problems you might have after updates. Why are notifications displayed on the lock screen?
By default, Android and MIUI are set to be as informative as possible, which means that any notification — whether it’s a WhatsApp message, a Gmail email, or a Google Calendar reminder — will be duplicated on the lock screen, which is convenient but creates risks:
- 🔓 Privacy: Anyone can read the contents of notifications without unlocking their phone.
- 📱 Screen overload: accumulated alerts take up space and prevent you from seeing the time / date.
- 🔋 Battery consumption: Constant notification updates waste processor resources.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro has three levels of notifications on lock: Full Text (everything is visible), Hidden Text (app icon and title only) and Disabled (nothing is shown) depending on your priorities, convenience or security.
Method 1: Completely disabling notifications on the lock screen
If you want to completely remove all notifications from the locked screen, follow the following steps:
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Go to the Notifications and Status bar section.
- Select Notifications on the lock screen.
- Activate the option to not show notifications.
After that, the lock screen will only display the time, date and icons of notifications (without text).

Method 2: Hiding the text of notifications (leave only icons)
If you need to save alerts on lock, but hide their content, select Hide the contents of notifications, in which case the screen will only show:
- 📌 Application icon (for example, Telegram or Telegram) VK).
- 🔹 Notice title (if any).
- ⏰ Time of receipt.
To activate this mode:
- Go to Settings → Notifications and Status bar → Notifications on the lock screen.
- Choose Hide the contents of notifications.

Not all notifications are equally important, for example, you might want to hide messages from Viber, but leave alerts visible from a banking app.
- Open Settings → Notifications and Status bar → Notification management.
- Select an app from a list (such as WhatsApp).
- Go to the Notifications section on the lock screen.
- Set one of the regimes: 🔕 Showing the full (you can see everything). 🔒 Hide contents (Icon only). 🚫 Do not show (complete shutdown).
This method allows you to flexibly set up privacy for each application separately, for example, you can leave notices from Google Pay visible (to avoid missing a payment), but hide messages from Tinder.

If the application is not listed, make sure it allows notifications to be sent in its settings (usually this can be checked in the app itself under Notifications).
Method 4: Use of the Privacy Mode (for MIUI 13/14)
The latest versions of MIUI have introduced a special Privacy Mode that automatically hides notifications on the lock screen when the phone is in a public place.
- Go to Settings. → Confidentiality.
- Choose Privacy Protection.
- Activate Hide Notifications in Public Places.
- Configure geolocation or Wi-Fi network settings, which will be activated when connected.
You should also look at the settings of Google Play Services, which can duplicate notifications.
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Find Google Play Services and open its settings.
- Select Notifications and turn off unnecessary alerts.

Even if you hid notifications on the lock screen, they will still be available in the notification panel after unlocking your phone, a technique that protects against random viewing, not targeted hacking.
