Xiaomi’s MIUI-enclosed notification curtain has long been a subject of controversy: some value its functionality, others dream of a minimalist design, like the iPhone. If you’re in the second group, good news: you can achieve visual similarity with iOS without root rights and complex manipulation. In this article, we will discuss legal ways to transform the notification panel, including hidden MIUI settings, third-party launchers and themes, and explain why some “life hacks” from the Internet do not work on new versions of the firmware.
It's important to understand that a full copy of the iPhone curtain on Xiaomi is not possible due to the architectural differences between Android and iOS. However, you can achieve visual similarity by 80-90% - it is enough to combine system tools and third-party solutions correctly. We tested all methods on current models (Redmi Note 12 Pro+, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, POCO F5) with MIUI 14/15 and selected only those that work stably.
Before you start, check your firmware version in Settings → About Phone → MIUI version. Some features may not be available on devices with MIUI Global or MIUI for Russia – in this case, you will need to switch to MIUI China (but this is a separate topic that we will not touch on).
1. Set up the standard MIUI curtain for iOS
So, to start with the basics, MIUI allows you to customize the notification bar without any third-party apps, but with limitations.
- 📱 Remove the divider between quick settings and notifications. MIUI The curtain is divided into two zones: the top (switches) and the bottom (notifications). On the iPhone, everything is combined into one block. To remove the separator, go to Settings. → Notification panel and status bar → Notification panel styles and select “No separator” option».
- 🎨 Change the transparency and color of the background. In the same menu, you can adjust the transparency of the curtain (recommended 70-80% for the blur effect, as on iOS) and the color of the background #F5F5F5 (light-gray).
- 🔔 Disable unnecessary elements. MIUI The curtain is often overloaded with information: weather, steps, advertising. → Notification panel → Status icon settings.
Unfortunately, standard means can not change the animation opening curtain (on the iPhone it smoothly "gets out" from the bottom, and on Xiaomi - sharply opens from above).
⚠️ Note: On some models (POCO X5, Redmi 12 after updating to MIUI 15, the Notification Bar Styles option is gone. If you don't have one, skip this step and go to the method. №2.
2.Using themes from MIUI Themes
The official MIUI theme store offers hundreds of styles that mimic the iPhone curtain, and the main advantage of this method is that you don't need to install third-party launchers, which saves the phone resources.
Instructions for use:
- Open the Themes app (if not, download it from Google Play).
- In the search bar, type in the following queries: “iOS notification”, “iPhone panel” or “iOS style”.
- Choose a high-rated theme (4.5+ stars) and read reviews – some styles can knock system fonts down.
- Click "Apply" and wait for installation. Reboot the phone.
Recommended topics (checked on MIUI 14/15):
- 🌟 iOS 16 Style – Copies the design of the curtain from the iPhone 14, including icons of fast settings.
- 🌟 Minimal iOS Panel – a simplified version without unnecessary elements, suitable for weak devices (Redmi) 9A, POCO M3).
- 🌟 iOS Dark Mode is a dark theme with a blur effect, like on the latest iPhone models.
| Theme | Compatibility | Features | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| iOS 16 Style | MIUI 12–15 | Complete iOS simulation, including animation | Brakes on weak devices |
| Minimal iOS Panel | MIUI 13–15 | Light, not loading the system. | No blurring effect |
| iOS Dark Mode | MIUI 14+ | A dark subject with blur | Not all icons are adapted |
⚠️ Attention: After applying the items from the store MIUI You can reset the icon settings in the status bar. → Notification panel → Status signs and, if necessary, turn on the necessary (for example, 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Charging).

3. Launchers with support for iOS curtains
If standard themes don't work, try third-party launchers, which not only change the notification curtain, but also transform the entire interface for iOS.
- 📲 Lawnchair 2 is a lightweight launcher that supports gestures and curtain customization, allows you to adjust transparency, layout of elements and even add blurring effect. MIUI. Cons: for full configuration you need a premium version.
- 📲 iLauncher is a dedicated launcher for iOS, which simulates not only the curtain, but also the dock panel, animations of the transition between screens. Plus: the free version is functional. MIUI.
- 📲 Nova Launcher is a universal launcher with support for plugins. To simulate the curtain of the iPhone, you will need to additionally install the TeslaUnread module (to stylize notifications) and the iOS 16 Icons icon package.
Instructions for Lawnchair 2 (optimum choice):
- Download the launcher from Google Play or from the official website (lawnchair.app).
- Set it as the default launcher (the system will prompt you to do so when you first start).
- Go to launcher settings: Settings → Notification panel.
- Activate options: “Transparent panel” (level 70–80%) “Blurring background” (effect as on iOS) “Hide app shortcuts” (to make the curtain look cleaner)
iOS 16 Quick Settings
Google Play
If the curtain opens with a delay after installing the launcher, turn off animation in the developer settings (Settings → About Phone → MIUI version → 7 times tap on version → return to Settings → Additional → For developers → disable “Window animation” and “Changes animation”).
💡
To return the standard MIUI launcher, go to Settings → Applications → Default → Launcher and select System Launcher.
4.Magisk modules for deep customization
If you're ready for more radical changes and you have a bootloader unlocked, you can use modules for Magisk, which gives you maximum freedom, but requires technical skills, and caution: wrong actions can lead to a device blink.
The most effective modules for the curtain of the iPhone:
- 🔧 iOS 16 QS Panel - replaces the quick tweaks panel with iOS 16 style, including icons and animations.Requirements: Magisk 25+, MIUI 13–15.
- 🔧 MiuiBlur – adds blur effect to curtains and menus. works on most Xiaomi devices, but may conflict with some themes.
- 🔧 QuickSwitch – allows you to configure the location of the switches (for example, make them round, like on the iPhone).
Installation instructions (for example, iOS 16 QS Panel):
- Install Magisk Manager and check root status.
- Download the module. iOS_16_QS_Panel.zip forum XDA Developers (link: xda-developers.com).
- Go to Magisk → Modules → Install from Storage and select the downloaded file.
- Reset the phone. Once the notification curtain is turned on, it should update.
If the curtain module has not changed after installation:
- Check the Magisk log for errors (/sdcard/Magisk.log).
- Remove the system UI cache: Settings → Applications → Application management → System interface → Clear the cache.
- Try another module (e.g. MiuiBlur is often more stable).
⚠️ Note: Modules for Magisk may conflict with updates MIUI. Before installing a new update, disable all modules through Magisk (the option “Disable all modules”) and only then update the system. Otherwise, the phone may hang on the Xiaomi logo.
What if the phone does not turn on after installing the module?
5. Manual editing of system files (for advanced)
This method is only suitable for advanced users, as it requires direct intervention in system files. We will look at a safe way to change the curtain through editing framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk using the APKTool tool.
What can be changed manually:
- 🎨 Color and transparency of curtains (files) colors.xml and styles.xml).
- 🔄 Opening/Closing Animation (file) anim/panel_slide.xml).
- 📱 Size and location of icons (file) layout/notification_panel.xml).
Step-by-step:
- Back up the system partition via TWRP or OrangeFox Recovery.
- Download and install: APKTool (for APK decompile) Notepad++ or VS Code (for XML editing) 7-Zip (for file uncompilation)
- Extract. SystemUI.apk system-side (/system/priv-app/SystemUI) And decompile it: apktool d SystemUI.apk -o SystemUI_mod
- Open the folder. SystemUI_mod/res/layout and find the file. notification_panel.xml. Change the settings: android:background="@color/notification_panel_bg" → substitute @android:color/transparent For transparency, android:paddingTop.="24dp" → reduce to 8dp compactly.
apktool b SystemUI_mod -o SystemUI_mod.apkuber-apk-signer
This method requires knowledge of XML and Smali. If you've never worked with APK decompilation, you'd better use the previous methods. Editing errors can lead to SystemUI (constant interface reboots).
💡
System APK editing is the most powerful, but also the riskiest method. If you're not sure about your skills, use launchers or themes.
Alternative solutions: widgets and applications
If you want only the visual component of the iPhone curtain, not the functionality, you can do without deep customization.
1. iOS Curtain widget for lock screen
iOS 16 Lockscreen (available on Google Play) allows you to add a widget to the lock screen that mimics the iPhone notification curtain, which does not replace the system bar, but visually creates the desired effect. Pros: ease of installation, no need for root. Cons: only works on a locked screen.
Annex "Notification Shade"
Notification Shade is an overlay that is overlaid on top of the standard MIUI curtain and styles it as iOS.
- 🔄 Animation of the “departure” from the bottom (like on the iPhone)
- 🎨 Blurred background with regulated transparency
- 🔔 Grouping of notifications by annex
The work requires permission to “overlay on top of other applications” (Settings → Special features → Overlay).
You can download the Notification Shade on Google Play.
Comparison of methods: what to choose?
To make the choice easier, we will summarize all the ways in a table:
| Method | Difficulty | Need root? | The effect (1-10) | Risks. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard settings of MIUI | ⭐ | ❌ No. | 5/10 | Absent. |
| Topics from MIUI Themes | ⭐⭐ | ❌ No. | 7/10 | Conflicts with system fonts |
| Launchers (Lawnchair, iLauncher) | ⭐⭐ | ❌ No. | 8/10 | Increased battery consumption |
| Magisk modules | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ✅ Yes. | 9/10 | The risk of bootloop |
| Hand-editing by APK | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ✅ Yes. | 10/10 | High risk of SystemUI crash |
Selection recommendations:
- 📱 For beginners: Start with standard settings MIUI + shop-piece.
- 🛠️ For the advanced: use Lawnchair 2 + module of MiuiBlur.
- 🔧 For enthusiasts: manual editing SystemUI.apk (backup!).
