You try to type Roman numerals (I, V, X, L, C, D, M) on a Xiaomi Redmi smartphone, but the standard MIUI keyboard doesn't offer them in quick access? The problem is familiar to many: when filling out documents, specifying the century in dates or even playing Battleship, you have to improvise. In this article, we will discuss 5 working methods - from hidden functions of a standard keyboard to installing specialized applications.
It's important to understand that Roman numerals are not part of the main alphabet, so entering them requires additional actions. On Redmi Note 12/13, POCO X5 or older models like Redmi 9A, the algorithm is the same - the differences are only in the version of MIUI (13, 14 or HyperOS). We tested all methods on current firmware in 2026, so the instructions will work even after the updates.
If you need to enter MMXXIV (2026 in Roman numerals) or XIV (14), do not close the article - in the first section we will show the fastest way without installing additional programs.
Method 1: Using a standard Gboard (Google) or MIUI keyboard
Most Xiaomi Redmi users donβt even realize that Roman numerals are already embedded in the keyboard β they just need to be βpulledβ out of hidden characters.
- Open any field to enter text (for example, in Notes or Messages).
- Switch to English layout (if you have Russian).
- Press and hold the key with the letter I (Latin "ai") - a pop-up menu with options will appear, including: β (Roman).
- For other numbers, use combinations: πΉ V β hold on β € (5) πΉ X β hold on β © (10) πΉ L β hold on β ¬ (50) πΉ C β hold on β (100)
β οΈ Note: On some versions MIUI (Especially before 12.5), Roman characters may not be on the standard Xiaomi keyboard, in which case switch to Gboard (keyboard from Google), where they are guaranteed to be available.
Do you hold the key long enough (1-2 seconds)?
Are you switching to English?
Do you use Gboard instead of the standard MIUI keyboard?
Have you tried updating your keyboard on Google Play?
-->
Critical detail: Roman numerals in Gboard only appear when capital letters are held (Shift + letter). If lowercase characters are held, the menu will be empty.
Method 2: Copying from the clipboard (the fastest method)
If you have to enter Roman numerals once or twice, it's easier to copy them from the finished list. Below we have prepared a table with the most popular values - just click on the cell to copy the symbol:
| Arab | Roman | Example of use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | β | Numbering of chapters in books |
| 5 | β € | Designation of the century (β € century) |
| 10 | β © | Date on the clock (β © hour) |
| 50 | β ¬ | Anniversary dates (β ¬ years) |
| 2026 | MMXXIV | This year by the Romans |
π‘ Lifehack: Save this table in Notes or create a separate entry in Google Keep called Roman numerals, so you can quickly copy characters at any time.
Very rarely (once a year)
Sometimes (for documents)
Often (work/study)
Constantly (games, design)
-->
β οΈ Note: When copying from some sources (e.g, PDF-Roman numerals can be displayed as ordinary letters (e.g., "V" instead of "V "β €"). Always check the final symbol after insertion!
Method 3: Installation of specialized keyboards
If you have to work with Roman numerals often, it makes sense to install a keyboard with their support out of the box.We tested the top 3 options for Xiaomi Redmi:
- π± AnySoftKeyboard is an open source project with support for Unicode characters. After installation: Go to Settings β System system β Language and input. Activate AnySoftKeyboard and select it by default. Enable Advanced characters in your keyboard settings. Roman numerals are now available on the Sym menu).
- πΉ Multiling O Keyboard β supports over 200 languages and has a separate tab with Roman numerals.
- β‘ Fleksy β keyboard with gestures, where Roman numerals can be added to Favorites for quick access.
