Xiaomi smartphone owners often face the inconvenience of having an incoming call displayed with a small window at the top of the screen, rather than taking up the entire display as on older button phones. This is standard MIUI behavior, but it can be changed β and made easier than it seems. In this article, we will discuss all the ways to stretch the incoming call screen on Redmi, POCO and other Xiaomi models, including hidden settings and bypassing system constraints.
The problem is relevant for all firmware versions, from MIUI 12 to MIUI 14, and also for HyperOS (the new shell from Xiaomi). We will look at official methods through phone settings, alternative solutions using third-party applications, and also explain why sometimes full-screen mode may not work. If you want a call to occupy the entire screen with a photo of the contact and large buttons, read on.
Why does Xiaomi show a small window incoming call?
Modern smartphones, including Xiaomi, are optimized for multitasking, and a small incoming call window allows you to:
- π± Continue to use your phone while you call (for example, check messages or cards).
- π Quickly disable or accept a call without interrupting current tasks.
- π‘οΈ Avoiding accidental screen taps during conversation.
However, for many users, this format is inconvenient β especially if the phone is lying on the table or charging. In addition, on large screens (for example, Xiaomi 13 Ultra or POCO F5), a small window is easy to miss. The manufacturer does not provide a direct option to βenable full screen modeβ, but there are workarounds.
Interesting fact: In the early versions of MIUI (before the 10th), full-screen mode was available by default, but Later was removed "for convenience" and now this feature has to be enabled manually - or use third-party tools.
Official method: setting up through "Special features"
The most reliable method is to activate full-screen display through the Special Features menu, which works on all Xiaomi models (including the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11, etc.) and does not require root permissions.
- Open the Settings. β Special facilities.
- Go to Usability (or additionally, depending on the version of MIUI).
- Find the option Full-screen display of incoming calls (may be called the size of the call window).
- Activate the switch and select the Full Screen option.
If there is no such item, then your firmware does not support it, in which case move on to alternative methods (see the next section).
β οΈ Note: Some models (e.g. Xiaomi) 12T or Redmi K50) When full screen is activated, call control buttons may disappear. To return them, tap the screen twice during the call.
Alternative methods: third-party applications and hidden settings
If the standard method didnβt work, try one of these options:
1. Full Screen Caller Appendix
A free app from Google Play that replaces the standard call window with a custom one with full-screen support.
- π¨ Customizable design (colors, fonts, animations).
- π Support for high-resolution contact photos.
- π Ability to turn off vibration or sound for individual contacts.
Disadvantages: requires permission to access calls and contacts, and you can set up here.
2. Change system settings through ADB
For advanced users: with the ADB command, you can force full-screen mode. Connect your phone to your PC, activate Debugging via USB (Settings β About Phone β MIUI version β 7 times press) and do:
adb shell settings put global incoming_call_fullscreen 1Once the phone is restarted, all incoming calls will be displayed on the full screen. To return the standard window, replace 1 with 0.
What to do if ADB is not working?
3.Use of MIUI themes
Some themes from the official Xiaomi Themes store change the style of incoming calls. Try installing themes marked Full Screen or Max Call.
- π Dark Full Screen Call is a dark theme with large buttons.
- π Crystal Call UI β full-screen transparent design.
To apply the theme, go to Topics β My Themes β Local and select downloaded.
Comparison of methods: which one to choose?
Each method has its pros and cons. Below the table will help determine the best option:
| Method | Difficulty | Required. root/ADB | It works on all models. | Risks. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Special facilities | β | β No. | β οΈ Not always. | Absent. |
| Full Screen Caller | ββ | β No. | β Yes. | Access to contacts |
| ADB-team | βββ | β Yes. | β Yes. | Resetting settings when updating |
| Castomy themes | ββ | β No. | β οΈ Depends on the topic. | Conflicts with system fonts |
For most users, the best solution is the Full Screen Caller app, which requires no technical skills and works steadily. If you prefer system solutions, try ADB or customization through Special features.

Frequent problems and their solutions
Even after setting up, full-screen mode may not work properly. Consider typical errors and ways to fix them:
1. Accept/Reject buttons are missing
If after activation of full screen mode the call control buttons disappeared:
- π Twice tap the screen during the call β they should appear.
- π± Check if Gesture is on in the screen settings. When you gesture, the buttons may be hidden.
- π§ Reset the settings of the Phone application (Settings) β Annexes β Phone. β Warehouse β Drop it).
2. Full screen mode resets after update
This is a typical problem for ADB or custom themes.
- π Repeat the setting after the update MIUI.
3. Contact photo is not displayed on the full screen
If instead of a photo of the contact you see a black background or icon:
- πΌοΈ Make sure your contact has a high-resolution photo (minimum) 720Γ720).
- π Restore the contact (open it). β Edit β keep it unchanged).
- π Check if media files are hidden in the gallery settings (Settings) β Confidentiality β Hidden folders).
β οΈ Note: On some models (for example, Xiaomi 13 Pro) full-screen mode may conflict with the Always-on Display function. AOD lock-in.
Additional chips: how to customize the call screen
Full screen mode is just the beginning, and with additional settings, you can make the incoming call screen even more convenient:
1. Changing call animation
MIUI 14 and HyperOS have alternative animations for incoming calls, to include:
- Install MIUI Lab (an app for testing new features).
- Activate the option New call animations.
- Choose the style: Wave, Pulse or Gradient.
2. Vibration and sound adjustment
You can assign unique signals and vibrations to different contacts:
- Open Contacts and select the one you want.
- Click Edit β Call Sound (or Vibration)
- Select a tune from the list or upload yours.
For full screen mode, it is recommended to use short and loud signals (such as Ring Classic) to avoid missing a call.
3. Display of additional information
With the Truecaller or GetContact app, you can add to the call screen:
- π’ Company name (if the organization calls).
- π Caller geolocation (if the contact shared it).
- π Previous Call History with this Number.
π‘
If you miss calls often, turn on the "Missed Memo" feature in the Phone settings. Now the notification will be repeated every 5 minutes until you answer or reject the call.
Safety: Risks and Warnings
Changing system settings or using third-party applications to manage calls may entail risks:
- π Data Leakage: Apps like Full Screen Caller or Truecaller require access to contacts and call history. Check permissions and reviews on Google Play before installing.
- π Unstable work: After the update MIUI Custom settings can be reset, and some functions can stop working.
- π οΈ Firmware conflicts: On HyperOS models (e.g. Xiaomi 14) some methods (e.g., Xiaomi 14, ADB) Can cause errors in system applications.
To minimize the risks:
- π Install applications only from official sources.
- π± Regularly back up through Settings β Additionally. β Backup.
- π Before the update MIUI Turn off the full screen mode installed through ADB.
β οΈ Note: On phones with unlocked bootloader (bootloader) change system parameters through ADB Google Pay and other services linked to SafetyNet.

Before use ADB-Make sure the phone has the option "Allow debugging by USB Charging mode" (in the developer settings) without this, the command will not work.
