Do you want your Xiaomi screen time to be as large as possible and visible at first sight? This is true for both MIUI smartphones and Mi Band or Xiaomi Watch smartwatches. Fortunately, the manufacturer has envisioned several ways to increase the size of the watch, from standard settings to hidden features.
In this article, we’ll look at all the different ways you can go from resizing your widgets on the home screen to adjusting Always On Display (AOD) and customizing your smartwatch dials, and learn how to make your watch not just big, but stylish—with animations, color schemes, and more information (weather, steps, notifications).
Importantly, not all methods work on older versions of MIUI (below 12.5) or budget models, and we will specify the limitations for each method so that you do not waste time.
1. Increase the hours through the widget on the home screen
The easiest way is to use Xiaomi’s standard watch widget and stretch it all over the screen. This works on all smartphones with MIUI 11 and later, including the Redmi Note 10/11/12, POCO X3/X4/X5 and Xiaomi’s flagship 12/13/14.
How to do this:
- 📱 Click on the free space on the main screen for a long time. → select "Widgets».
- 🔍 Scroll down to the "Clock" section (or "Clock" on English firmware).
- 🖼️ Choose a watch widget (usually there are options). 2×2, 4×1, 4×2).
- 🔄 Drag the widget onto the screen and stretch it to the maximum size (up to) 4×4 cell).
On some models (e.g., the POCO F4/F5), the watch widget supports dynamic resizing. Try to shrink it to a minimum and then stretch it again - sometimes it resets the scale constraints.
⚠️ Attention: On smartphones with screen resolution HD+ (720p) (Like Redmi. 9A/10A) The watch widget can look pixelated at maximum zoom. This is a hardware limitation.
There should be free space on the main screen (minimum 4×4 cells)
Updated firmware (widgets are often improved in new MIUI versions)
Third-party launchers (Nova, Apex) are disabled – they can block stretching-->
2. Always On Display (AOD) setup for large watches
The Always On Display (AOD) feature allows time, date and notifications to be displayed on the screen off. The latest versions of MIUI 13/14 offer large watch styles, including digital and analog variants with larger fonts.
How to turn on and configure:
- Go to Settings → Screen → Always On Display
- Activate the slider "Always on Display".
- Click on “Large” or “XL” watches (like “Digital XL” or “Analog Big”).
- In the "AOD settings" section, enable the "Show when lifting" option so that the watch appears when the smartphone moves.
Xiaomi 13 Pro, 14 Ultra and other flagships AMOLED-Animated styles are available on screens AOD For example, the "Pulse" style shows time in waves, and the "Neon" style shows time with numbers illuminated.
| Smartphone model | Support for AOD | Max, watch size. | Animation. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/14, POCO F5 Pro | ✅ Yes. | XL (up to 50% of screen) | ✅ 5+ styles |
| Redmi Note 12 Pro+ | ✅ Yes. | Large (up to 30%) | ✅ 3 styles |
| POCO X5, Redmi 10 | ❌ No, only Lift to Wake) | — | — |
| Xiaomi 12S Ultra | ✅ Yes. | XXL (up to 60%) | ✅ 7+ styles |
⚠️ Note: On smartphones with LCD-screens (e.g. Redmi) 9C, POCO M4 Pro) function AOD It is not physically active, it only works on AMOLED-Trying to turn it on through the engineering menu will cause the screen to overheat.

Change the size of the clock in the system application "Clock"
The standard Clock app in MIUI allows you to increase the display of time on a full screen, a method suitable for those who often open the application to watch the time (for example, charging or while working).
Instructions:
- 📲 Open the "Clock" app».
- 🔧 Click on three dots in the upper right corner → «Settings».
- 📏 Select “Font Size” and move the slider to “Very Large” or “Giant».
- 🎨 In the Style section, select the maximum contrast dial (e.g., Classic Black or Neon Blue»).
Xiaomi has a full screen option with MIUI 14 in the settings of the watch, when activated, the time will take up to 80% of the screen, and the rest of the space will fill the weather widgets, alarm clocks and timers.
💡
If the Watch app doesn’t have a resize option in its settings, update it via Google Play. Often new features appear in updates earlier than in firmware.
4. Large watches on Xiaomi smart watches (Mi Band, Xiaomi Watch)
On Xiaomi wearables — Mi Band 7/8, Xiaomi Watch S2/S3, Redmi Watch 3 — the size of the watch depends on the dial chosen. Many users do not know that the official Mi Fitness or Zepp Life app has hidden dials with increased numbers.
How to set a large dial:
- Open the Mi Fitness app (or Zepp Life for Xiaomi Watch).
- Select your device → «Dials».
- In the search, type “Big”, “Large” or “XL”.
- Download your favorite version (we recommend Digital Big, Gold Numbers or Minimal XL).
- Click "Install" and sync with the clock.
For the Mi Band 7/8, there are informal dials with giant numbers (up to 70% of the screen), but they must be installed through third-party applications like Notify & Fitness or Amazfit Bip/Band Tool.

5.Use of third-party applications for large watches
If standard methods don't work, you can install third-party apps from Google Play, which offer more customization options, including transparent watches, 3D-Effects and interactive widgets.
Top.-3 watch-appeals:
- 🔝 Big Clock is a simple widget with up to 90% screen size, color and font settings. Supports night mode and date display.
- 🎨 UCCW (Ultimate Custom Clock Widget is for advanced users, allowing you to create a watch from scratch, add animations and associate with the weather.
- 📱 Always On AMOLED — standard-side AOD Support for large fonts and custom images.
Example of Big Clock setup:
- Install the app from Google Play.
- Add the widget to the main screen (size 4×2 or 4×4).
- In the widget settings, select "Font Size" → "Huge".
- Activate the “Tap to Refresh” option to update tap time.
⚠️ Attention: Some applications (e.g, UCCW) You need permission to overlay over other windows, and if you don't provide it, the clock will disappear when you open other programs. → Annexes → Special access → Overlay.
💡
The app side can drain the battery faster than standard widgets. Turn off background activity in Android settings if you notice increased consumption.
6. Hidden settings for developers (for experienced only)
MIUI has hidden parameters to increase the system font of the watch to the maximum possible size (up to 200% of the standard), which requires activation of the developer mode and does not work on all models.
Step-by-step:
- Activate Developer Mode: Settings → About Phone → MIUI Version (click 7 times)
- Back to Settings → Additionally. → For developers.
- Find the option “Minimum width (dp)” and set the value of 500 (standard – 360-400).
- In the “Display Scale” section, select “Huge”.
- Reboot your smartphone.
After this, all system fonts (including the status bar and lock clock) will increase. To return everything back, reset Minimum Width to the standard value or reset the screen settings.
What if the interface elements are lost after the scale change?
7.Alternative solutions: smart displays and projectors
If you want time to be visible from a distance (such as in a large room or office), consider connecting a Xiaomi smartphone to an external display or using smart devices:
- 📺 Mi TV or Redmi Smart TV: Install the full screen watch app from Google Play (like Full Screen Clock). connect your phone to Miracast or HDMI.
- 💡 Xiaomi Smart Projector: Project the screen of the smartphone with an increased clock on the wall. In the projector settings, turn on “Showcase Mode” so that the image does not go out.
- 🔊 Xiaomi Smart Column (e.g. Mi Smart Speaker): Set up a timetable via the Mi Home app (Automation section»).
For offices or stores, the Xiaomi Mi Desktop Clock is a separate device with an E-Ink display that shows time in XXL format. It is synchronized over Wi-Fi and can display weather, currency rates and notifications.
