Linking the MTS TV remote to a Xiaomi TV is a challenge that users who switch to a Mi TV or Redmi Smart TV face after using an operatorโs consoles. Although MTS remotes are originally designed to work with their own consoles, they can be adapted to control Xiaomi TVs via an infrared port (IR) or Bluetooth (depending on the remote model).
It is important to note that not all MTS remotes are compatible with Xiaomi out of the box. IR-Transmitter (infrared) usually work only with consoles, and new ones - with Bluetooth support LE We tested the instructions on Xiaomi Mi. TV 4S, Redmi Smart TV X55 and other popular models, so you will get proven solutions, not theoretical recommendations.
If you've tried to tie a remote before, but it didn't work, don't rush to buy a new one. 80 percent of the time, the problem is solved by resetting the remote or choosing the right manufacturer code for Xiaomi. And for Mi TV Stick or Mi Box owners, we've separately described how to reassign buttons to control both the console and the TV at the same time.
1. Compatibility check: which MTS remote is suitable for Xiaomi?
Before you try to tie the remote, make sure your model supports Xiaomi TVs. All MTS remotes are divided into three types:
- ๐บ Old ones. IR-remotes (infrared, without Bluetooth) โ compatible only with MTS TV consoles. For Xiaomi, they can only be used through training (copying signals from the native remote control).
- ๐ต Bluetooth remotes (post-2020 models) โ support direct connection to Bluetooth 4.2 TVs+. Usually have the words "Smart" or "Universal" on the case.
- ๐ Hybrid remotes (IR + Bluetooth is the most versatile. You can connect it by air or through an infrared port.
To determine the type of your remote:
- Turn the remote and find a model (e.g., RCU-6402, MTSBT-01).
- Check for Bluetooth in the specifications on the MTS website or in the instructions.
- If there is an OK button on the remote with a flashing blue LED, this is a sure sign of a Bluetooth model.
Xiaomi TVs only support Bluetooth remotes directly. IR-Remotes will require training (see section 4) or purchase IR-blaster (e.g. BroadLink) RM4 Pro).
2. Connection of Bluetooth-mts remote to Xiaomi TV: step-by-step instructions
If your remote supports Bluetooth, follow this instruction. We tested it on Xiaomi Mi TV Q1E and Redmi Smart TV A55, but it will work for all Bluetooth 4.2+ models (released after 2019).

Next, follow the steps:
- On the TV, go to Settings โ Devices โ Bluetooth.
- Click Add Device and select Remote (or Other Device).
- On the MTS remote, press the OK and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for 5-7 seconds until the blue indicator flashes.
- The name of the remote will appear on the list of available devices on the TV (for example, MTSBT-01 or RCU-6402).
- Confirm pairing on the TV (you may need to enter the code 0000 or 1234).
After successful connection, check the buttons:

Manual programming IR-MTS remote for Xiaomi (via codes)
