Buying a Xiaomi smartphone on popular Chinese marketplaces often comes as a pleasant surprise in the form of a low price, but also a collision with the language barrier. The device can come with a Chinese firmware preinstalled, where the interface and keyboard are completely devoid of Cyrillic. This creates a situation where full use of the gadget becomes impossible without additional manipulation.
Depending on the version of the MIUI operating system or the new HyperOS, and the region for which the device is released, the methods may differ. In some cases, it is simply enough to change the settings of the region, in others you will need to install third-party software. It is important to understand that the process of setting up the input language does not require deep technical knowledge, if you follow a clear algorithm of actions.
Below we will look at all the current options for activating the Russian layout, from standard settings to advanced methods for blocked versions. You can choose the method that is suitable for your Redmi or Poco model, and enjoy a comfortable print in your native language without unnecessary difficulties.
Determination of firmware version and region
The first step before any action is to accurately define the current version of the software, which is directly dependent on the set of available options. Global versions usually already contain the necessary language packages, even if they are hidden by default. Chinese versions (China ROM) often lack support for other languages at the system level, which requires more radical measures.
To find out the version, you need to go to the device settings. Find the "About phone" item and note the "Version" line. MIUI» or "Version" OS». It will show the code, for example, 14.0.3.0.TKGMIXM. The letters at the end of the code indicate the region: MI — global, CN — Chinese, RU — It is on this label that the strategy depends.
