How to make a full screen photo of a caller on Xiaomi: detailed instructions with pictures

Many users mistakenly think that it requires root access or complex manipulation of system files. In fact, 90% of Xiaomi models (from Redmi Note 10 to Xiaomi 14 Ultra) support this feature out of the box - you just need to know where to look. Before you start, make sure that:

1. Standard method through MIUI settings

The easiest method is to use the built-in system options. It works on most Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices with MIUI 12 and later. Importantly, some shell manufacturers (for example, for the European market) may hide this item, in which case move to the next section.

Step instructions:

1. Open the phone application (pipe icon).
2. Slip on three dots in the upper right corner and select Settings.
3. Go to Incoming Calls (or Call Settings on some firmware).
4. Find the option of Inbound Call Style or Call Screen.
5. Choose Full Screen or Full Screen Photos.
6. Activate the switch Show a photo of the contact (if any).

If you don’t have Full Screen on your menu, try an alternative path:

Settings → Applications → Phone → Permissions → Additional → Call screen → Full-screen mode

⚠️ Note: On some models (POCO F3, Redmi Note 11 Pro+) post-update MIUI 14 this item may be missing. In this case, use the method of ADB (section).

2. Customization through MIUI themes (alternative method)

If standard settings don’t work, you can go a detour by installing a special theme, which works even on devices with stripped-down versions of firmware (e.g. global builds for Europe).

Step-by-step:

1. Open the "Themes" app (icon with brush).
2. In the search box, enter a request: full screen caller photo or full screen call.
3. Download and apply one of the themes: 🎨 Pure Caller – Minimalist design with big photo. 🖼️ Max Photo Call – stretches the image over 90% of the screen. 🌌 Dark Caller Pro is a dark theme with a focus on photography.

After applying the theme, restart the phone.

• 📥 Make sure you download the full version of the theme (not "lightweight").

3. Manual editing via ADB (for advanced)

If previous methods have failed, the most reliable (but also the most difficult) way is to edit system parameters via ADB. This method is suitable for all Android 10+ devices, including Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO.

What you need:

• 🖥️ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux.
• 🔌 USB-cable (original or quality).
• 📱 Included debugging by USB (Settings → The phone. → Version. MIUI → 7 times to tap according to the version).
• 🛠️ Google's Platform Tools utility.

Instructions:

1. Connect the phone to the PC and confirm the debugging permission.
2. Open the command line (cmd) in the folder with the platform-tools.
3. Enter the command to check the connection: adb devices (should display the serial number of the device).
4. Execute the command to activate full screen mode: adb shell settings put global incoming_call_background 1
5. Reboot the phone.

Once this command is executed, the contact photo will be displayed on 85-90% of the screen, and the call interface will become translucent. To return everything back, use the same command with 0 instead of 1.
