Why does the alarm clock on Xiaomi 11 Lite work differently than on other phones?
The Xiaomi 11 Lite smartphone (including the NE and 5G versions) runs on the MIUI branded shell, which is markedly different from the βpureβ Android. This also applies to the standard βClockβ application: here alarms are set up through a separate section with advanced options that are not available on smartphones of other brands. For example, only in MIUI you can automatically turn off the alarm clock by geolocation (if you leave home) or tie it to the βDo not disturbβ mode.
Another feature is integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem, where if you have a Mi Band smartwatch or a Mi Smart Speaker, you can sync your alarm between devices, but it requires you to set up your Mi Account and allow access to data, and in this article, weβll look at all the ways, from basic to advanced, and also explain how to fix common errors (for example, when the alarm goes quietly or doesnβt turn on at all).
Method 1: Standard Appendix "Clock"
The most reliable method is to use the built-in Watch (dial icon) app, which is pre-installed on all Xiaomi smartphones and does not require downloading. The interface may vary slightly depending on the version of MIUI, but the general logic is maintained.
To add an alarm clock:
- Open the Watch β app β go to the Alarm tab (bell icon at the bottom of the screen).
- Press the + button in the lower right corner.
- Set the time with the dial or enter manually.
- Set up additional parameters: π Repeat: Select the days of the week (e.g., "Pn-Pt" for working days). π΅ Sound: Default tune or downloaded from phone memory. π Delay: Deposition interval (5, 10 or 15 minutes). π Smart alarm clock (only in the MIUI 12+): Sleep phase analysis to wake up at optimal time.
Ready.
The correct time (AM/PM) is indicated.
Selected sound with sufficient volume
Notifications for the "Clock" app are allowed
Do not disturb mode is disabled during the alarm clock-->
If the alarm doesnβt work, first check if the notifications for the Watch app are turned off. Go to Settings β Apps β App Management β Watch β Notifications and turn on all the switches.
Method 2: Voice assistant XiaoAI
Xiaomi 11 Lite owners can use the XiaoAI voice assistant (similar to Google Assistant) to set an alarm without manually entering it, which is convenient if you are driving or doing other things, and works even on a locked screen (when the settings OK, Google in settings are turned on).
Algorithm of action:
- Activate Assistant: Long-term Home button retention (if gesture navigation is enabled, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and hold it). Voice command: Say Okay, XiaoAI (if the function is enabled in Settings β XiaoAI β Voice input).
Set the alarm for 7:30 tomorrow.

Remind me of the 15:00 meeting on the alarm. The assistant will confirm the alarm clock and suggest setting the sound or repetition.
π‘
If XiaoAI does not recognize the command, try to speak more clearly or switch the input language to English (in the assistant settings).
Important: Voice alarms are saved in the same Watch app, so they can be edited manually. However, this method has a limitation - XiaoAI does not support setting a smart alarm clock (sleep phase analysis) through voice commands.
Method 3: An alarm clock widget on the home screen
If you use an alarm clock often, it makes sense to add a widget to the home screen, which will allow you to quickly turn it on / off without starting the application. On Xiaomi 11 Lite, there are three types of widget:
| Type of widget | Functions | How do I add? |
|---|---|---|
| Analog clock with alarm clock | It shows the time and status of the alarm clock (on/off). Press the bell to open the alarm menu. | Long tap on the home screen β Widgets β Watch β choose a size of 4Γ2. |
| Digital watch + alarm clock | It displays the time, date and nearest alarm clock, and you can swipe the alarm on/off. | Similarly, the size is 4Γ1 or 2Γ2. |
| Alarm clock mini widget | Just an icon of the bell with the time of the next alarm clock, quick access to settings. | Size 1Γ1 or 2Γ1. |
To add a widget:
- Touch and hold the empty space on the main screen.
- Select Widgets from the bottom menu.
- Scroll the list to the Watch section and drag the desired widget to the screen.
- If necessary, change the size by pulling around the corners.

Method 4: Alarm clock with Google Assistant
If you prefer the Google ecosystem, you can use Google Assistant to manage alarm clocks, which is universal and works even if the standard Xiaomi Watch app is removed or disabled.
Instructions:
- Make sure your phone has Google Assistant installed (usually preinstalled). If not, download from the Play Market.
- Activate Assistant: Voice: Say OK, Google. Gesture: swipe diagonally from any lower corner of the screen to the center.
Set the alarm for 8:00 a.m.

Note: The alarm clocks created through Google Assistant are saved in Google Watch (not to be confused with the standard Xiaomi Watch!) to edit, open this app or tell the assistant, Show me my alarm clocks.
β οΈ Warning: If your phone has Google Assistant battery optimization enabled, the alarm clocks may not work. To fix this, go to Settings β Annexes β Application management β Google β Battery and select No Limitations.
Method 5: Third-party applications (for advanced functions)
Standard alarm clocks in MIUI They are suitable for most tasks, but if you need additional features β for example, waking up by sleep phases, mathematical tasks to turn off or integration with a smart home β it is worth considering third-party applications.-3 tested:
- π Sleep as Android: sleep analysis, smart alarm clock with captcha (so as not to turn off in a dream), integration with Mi Band.
- β° Alarmy: An alarm clock with tasks (e.g. scanning) QR-code in the bathroom to turn off the signal).
- πΆ Timely: beautiful animations, cloud synchronization between devices.
To set a third-party alarm:
- Download an app from the Play Market (e.g. Sleep as Android).
- When you first start, allow permissions to: Access notifications (to trigger the alarm on top of other applications); Microphone (to turn off voice); Geolocation (if you need a location-based wake-up feature).
Sleep as Android
Sleep mode: Light / Deep
Method of Awakening: Vibration / Sound / Light
Disconnection tasks: Mathematical example / QR-codeβ οΈ Warning: Some third-party alarms (e.g. Alarmy) require special access in Android settings to run on top of other apps.Without this, the alarm may not work if the phone is locked. To enable access: Settings β Special facilities β Algorithm β Allow changes in system settings.
Typical problems and their solutions
Even after setting the alarm clock correctly on the Xiaomi 11 Lite can malfunction, and here are the most common problems and ways to fix them:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The alarm clock doesn't work. | The Watch app is optimized by the system. Do not disturb or save battery is enabled. | Go to Settings β Apps β Watch β Battery and select Unlimited. Check for exceptions in Do Not Disturb (Settings β Sound and Vibration β Do Not Disturb β Alarms). |
| The alarm clock is quiet. | The alarm clock volume is tied to media sound, and a quiet melody is selected. | Increase the volume of the alarm separately (volume buttons β tap down the arrow β alarm slider). Select another tune in the alarm settings. |
| The alarm clock is going off at the wrong time. | Wrong time zone or date. | Check time settings: Settings β Additional β Date and time. Turn off Autodetermination if you live in a winter/summer time region. |
If nothing helps, try resetting the Watch app settings:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management β Watch.
- Press Warehouse. β Clear the data.
- Reboot your phone and set your alarm again.
π‘
Before resetting the Watch app, export your current alarm clocks (if they are important). Use the MIUI backup function: Settings β About Phone β Backup.
