Why the remote does not work with Xiaomi TV and what to do about it
You bought a Xiaomi Mi TV or a Redmi Smart TV, but Rostelecom's console refuses to interact with it? The problem is familiar to many users - despite the versatility of modern remotes, Chinese TVs often require manual tuning, and 80% of the time the fault is the inconsistency of infrared protocols or the lack of factory codes in the remote database.

Method 1: Automatic code search for Xiaomi
The easiest method is to get the remote control Rostelecom to choose the code for your Xiaomi TV. This works if the TV model is released not earlier than 2019.
- Turn on the Xiaomi TV and point the console Rostelecom to it.
- Press the TV (or STB) and OK buttons for 3-5 seconds at the same time until the indicator flashes twice.
- Press TV again – the indicator should blink once (this is a signal to switch to search mode).
- Now alternately press CH+ (or P+) until the TV turns off, which will take 1-3 minutes.
- Once the screen goes out, press OK to save the code.

How to enter the code:
- Press TV + OK until the light flashes twice.
- Enter a 4-digit code from a table (e.g., 0627 for Mi TV P1).
- Press OK – the indicator should flash 4 times (success) or 1 time (error).

Method 3: Configure via the console menu Rostelecom
Few people know, but Rostelecom consoles (SML-282, SML-482 and later) allow you to configure the remote directly through your menu, which is especially useful if you have a Xiaomi TV with a non-standard IR protocol (for example, Mi TV Q1 or Master Series).

- On the console, press Menu → select Settings → Devices → Remote DU.
- Select Settings for TV → Another brand.
- In the list, find Xiaomi (or Mi TV). If not, select Code Search.
- Follow the instructions on the screen. The console will send test signals to the TV.
- After successful setup, restart the console (Menu → System → Reboot).
This method works even for TVs with MIUI TV 4.0+ firmware, where manual code entry often fails.
What to do if the remote controls only volume
The situation where the remote control Rostelecom adjusts the sound, but does not change channels or open the menu, is associated with partial compatibility of the IR protocols.

If none of these methods work, consider alternatives:
- Universal remotes: Buy a remote with Xiaomi support, for example, Xiaomi Mi Remote or BroadLink RM4 Pro. They work on Bluetooth and IR, which guarantees compatibility.
- Voice control: Xiaomi TVs with MIUI TV 3.0+ have a built-in Google Assistant. Activate it through Settings → Voice Assistant.
- Smartphone Control: The Mi Home app (for Android/iOS) allows you to fully control your TV via Wi-Fi.
- Keyboard and mouse: Connect your wireless keyboard over Bluetooth – this is convenient for navigating the menu.
If you use the prefix Rostelecom, you can configure control of the TV through its remote control, bypassing the IR protocol.
- In the console menu, select Settings → Devices → TV management.
- Activate the HDMI Control option.
- The buttons will be transmitted to the TV via HDMI-cable.

Frequent Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
