Modern Xiaomi Redmi and Poco smartphones come with high-end displays and powerful processors, but even the flagship MIUI and HyperOS shells have annoying little things to say. One of them is the loud, impersonated keystroke sound that is on the system by default. This click, designed to give a tactile response, in the quiet of the office or at night can be a real problem, distracting the surroundings and the user.
Fortunately, the developers have come up with several ways to manage audio input notifications, so you can completely silence the virtual keyboard while keeping the volume of the media and the call at the same level, especially for those who are used to typing large amounts of text or often using instant messengers at night.
In this guide, we will look at all the available methods, from standard system settings to deep customization through the menu of the keyboard itself. We will look at the popular Gboard applications, SwiftKey and the standard MIUI Keyboard. Understanding these nuances will allow you to make your smartphone experience as comfortable as possible.
Global Sound Settings in Android System
The easiest and fastest way to remove clicks is to use the system audio settings, which works on most Xiaomi devices regardless of the shell version, but it can affect not only the keyboard, but also other system sounds, such as screen lock or interface sound effects.
To do this, you need to go to the main settings menu. Find the partition that handles the audio settings of the device. Depending on the Android version, the path may vary slightly, but the logic remains the same. You need to find the item associated with the additional sounds of the system.

Turning off the sound in Google Gboard
The Gboard keyboard is the standard for most Xiaomi smartphones on global firmware, and has a flexible settings menu that allows you to fine-tune your audio response. It’s important to understand that the settings here are divided into the preferences of the keyboard itself and the system settings for sound.
To get to the menu you don't have to look for the app icon in the list of programs. Just start typing in any field to call the keyboard, and click on the gear icon, which is usually located in the top toolbar. If there's no icon, press and hold the comma or emoji.
In the menu that opens, select Settings, and you're interested in Preferences or Sound and Vibration, and that's where the volume switch is hidden, and you can move the slider to the far left or turn off the switch completely.

The vibration function deserves special attention. Often users confuse sound and tactile response. If there are no clicks, but the phone vibrates every time you touch, you need to find the "Vibration on press" item in the same menu and turn it off, which will save battery power and make typing silent.
Setting up sound effects in SwiftKey
Microsoft's SwiftKey keyboard is known for its powerful predictive input engine and high customization, and many Redmi users install it on Google Play, and the process of turning off sounds here is a little different and has its own peculiarities.
Open the SwiftKey app or call the gear icon on the keyboard panel, go to the Sounds and Vibrations section, and here you'll see a volume-regulating slider, and unlike Gboard, you can not just turn off the sound, but you can also choose the type of sound from the options you've got.

Note the autocorrection sound, which even if you turn off the keystroke sound, the phone can emit a characteristic "chp" or whistle every time SwiftKey automatically corrects a word error, which is in the same menu and requires a separate shutdown for complete silence.
Sound management in MIUI Keyboard
On Chinese firmware or in some CIS regions, the default is MIUI Keyboard (often based on Baidu or Sogou engine), which can be different from the usual Android standard, causing difficulties for users.
To access settings, click on the keyboard icon in the notification bar or search for the app in the menu. You need to find a section that may be called “Sound and Vibration” or simply “Input settings.” In some versions, this item is hidden in the General Settings menu.
It's important to be mindful here. MIUI Keyboard often has a separate switch for "Key Sound" and "Prediction Sound." It's critical to disable both settings, because they work independently of each other. The first is responsible for pressing, the second is responsible for the appearance of word prompts.

Do Not Disturb Mode and Sound Profiles
Android offers smart ways to control sound through profiles. Do Not Disturb allows you to temporarily turn off all sounds, including the keyboard, without changing the basic settings. It is the perfect solution for cinemas, meetings or sleep.
You can set this mode to automatically turn on on on a schedule, for example, the phone will go into silent mode every night from 23:00 to 07:00, in which case the keyboard will also be silent, even if the sound is turned on in its internal settings.

Solving problems with third-party keyboards
If you use less popular keyboards like Facemoji, TouchPal or Kika, the logic of settings search remains similar, but the terminology may differ. Often, the makers of such applications hide the audio settings deep in the themes or profiles menu.
In these applications, sound can be sewn into a specific theme, and if you change the theme but the sound is still there, try to return the standard theme. In some cases, audio packets are loaded separately as plugins, and need to be removed or disabled in the application plugin manager.

If neither of these methods works, it may be a third-party audio amplification app or equalizer that conflicts, check the list of installed audio utilities, and the problem may be the system itself, after the MIUI update.
