Why Video for You is intimidating users, and can it be removed without root rights?
Video for You (or Video for You in international firmware) is one of the most controversial elements of the MIUI and HyperOS branded shells. Xiaomi’s vision is to personalize content on the home screen by offering ads based on your interests. But in practice, users face aggressive advertising, irrelevant recommendations and uncontrolled traffic consumption in the background – even when you haven’t opened the app in a long time.
The problem is compounded by the fact that Xiaomi has integrated this module deeply into the system: it can appear not only on smartphones (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 13), but also on Mi TVs, tablets (Pad 6), and even in the launcher POCO Launcher.
In this article, we’ll look at all the current ways to disable Video for You, including hidden MIUI settings, ADB commands, and even methods for devices with HyperOS (which replaced MIUI in 2026). No root rights or complex manipulations — only proven solutions that work on most Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models.
Method 1: Disconnect via system settings (without ADB)
The easiest method is to deactivate the service via the standard menu, which is suitable for most smartphones on MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS, but may vary depending on the regional firmware (global, Chinese, European).
