Are you tired of the annoying vibration or sound โclickโ every time you touch a Xiaomi screen? This feature, called touch feedback, is designed to simulate the tactile response when you press virtual buttons. However, many users find it unnecessary, especially on devices with a AMOLED-And then there's the screens, where the vibration can create the illusion of a rattling body. MIUI 14/15 and earlier versions of the tolkback can be turned off completely or configured for yourself without using root rights.
In this article, weโll look at all the current ways, from standard settings to hidden developer settings, how to remove vibrations when typing, in menus, scrolling, and even in individual applications. And explain why some Xiaomi models (such as the Redmi Note 12 or POCO X5), the torqueback behaves differently than on flagships like Xiaomi 14.
What is the Xiaomi talkback and why disable it
Tolkback (or tactile feedback) is a combination of vibration and/or sound that is triggered when interacting with a touch screen. In MIUI, this function is implemented at the system level and operates in three modes:
- ๐ Vibration โ short pulse when touching (most commonly used in menus and navigation buttons).
- ๐ Sound is an artificial โclickโ (on by default on some firmware for China).
- ๐๏ธ Combined - vibration + sound (rarely encountered, usually after resetting settings).
Why do users want to turn off the talkback?
- ๐ซ Irritating โ constant vibration is tiring, especially with prolonged use.
- ๐ Battery consumption โ the vibrating motor consumes energy, albeit slightly.
- ๐ฎ Interferes with games - in dynamic shooters or races, unnecessary vibrations knock off the rhythm.
- ๐ง Keyboard conflict โ some applications (such as Gboard) have their own backend, which is duplicated by the system.
โ ๏ธ Note: On devices with Linear Motor (linear vibration engine, like Xiaomi) 13T or POCO F5) The impactback may be felt more strongly, and the vibration shutdown does not affect the main motor (e.g., for calls or notifications).
Method 1: Disconnect via standard MIUI settings
The easiest method is to use the built-in system options, which is suitable for most devices on MIUI 12-15 and does not require additional manipulation.
- Open the Settings app (the gear icon on the desktop).
- Go to the section Sound and vibration.
- Select Vibration when touching (or Tactile Feedback in newer versions).
- Turn off the Vibration slider when pressed.
If there is no such item in your firmware, try an alternative path:
Settings โ Additional settings โ Special features โ VibrationOn some models (e.g. Redmi 10 or POCO M4 Pro), the option may be called Interaction Vibration or hidden in the Keyboard Settings menu. If you don't find a clause, your version of MIUI uses a different tool toneback control (read more).
Backup settings in Settings โ About Phone โ Backup
Close all apps (especially games and instant messengers)
Check the battery level (recommended >30%)
Remember the current sound and vibration settings-->
Method 2: Configure through the developer parameters
If the standard settings don't work, you'll have to go to the hidden options, and you'll need to activate the developer mode first.
- Open the Settings. โ The phone.
- Find the MIUI version string and tap it 7 times in a row.
- Enter the device password (if the system requests it).
- Return to the main settings menu and a new section for developers will appear.
Now we move on to the shutdown of the talkback:
- Go to Settings. โ For developers.
- Scroll down to the Enter block.
- Find options: Vibration when touching - turn off; Sound when touching - turn off (if any); Touch animation - optional (removes the visual effect).
Restart the device to apply the changes.
โ ๏ธ Note: On some firmware (for example, MIUI EU For custom assemblies, items may be called Haptic feedback or Touch vibration. If you are not sure about the translation, use the built-in search by settings (the magnifying icon in the upper right corner).
What to do if there is no item "Vibration on touch" in developer mode?
Method 3: Disabling the talkback for individual applications
If you don't like the vibration only in certain programs (like Telegram or WhatsApp), you can turn it off selectively.
- Open the Settings โ Applications.
- Select the application you want (such as Google Keyboard).
- Go to Notices or Permits.
- Find the Vibration and turn it off.
Instructions:
- Connect the phone to the PC and confirm the debugging permission on the device screen.
- Open the command line (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) in the adb folder.
- Enter the command to check the connection: Adb devices must appear serial number of your device.
- Execute the command to disable the talkback: adb shell settings put system haptic_feedback_enabled 0
- Reboot the phone.
To return the toneback back, use the same command, replacing 0 with 1.
โ ๏ธ Note: On some devices (e.g. Redmi Note 11 with a MIUI (13) this command may not work correctly and cause system sounds to fail. ADB Make a backup copy through Settings โ The phone. โ Backup.

ADB-commands allow you to disable the talkback at the system level, but this method is not recommended for beginners. If you are not sure about your actions, use the standard settings (method 1 or 2).
Method 5: Disconnecting through third-party applications (without root)
If you don't want to go through the settings or use ADB, you can use specialized utilities.
- ๐ ๏ธ Haptic Feedback Toggle is a simple tool for vibration control. It works on most Xiaomi devices without root.
- ๐ง MacroDroid: Automatically disables the callback on a schedule or in certain applications.
- ๐ฑ Button Mapper - allows you to reassign the actions of the buttons, including turning off vibrations.
Example of settings in Haptic Feedback Toggle:
- Install the application and grant it the rights to Special Features (in the phone settings).
- Open the utility and go to the Haptic Feedback tab.
- Turn off the System Haptic Feedback slider.
- Apply the changes and restart the device.
The advantage of this method is that it allows you to adjust flexibly, for example, you can only turn off the talkback in games or at night, but some applications can conflict with MIUI, so check the stability of the phone after installation.
Frequent problems and solutions
Even after the talkback is turned off, users sometimes experience unexpected effects, and consider typical situations and ways to fix them:
- ๐ Tolkback returns after reboot: It's typical of MIUI 12-14 Solution: Use ADB-command (method 4) or install the Haptic Feedback Toggle app with autorun option.
- ๐ต Disappear all notification sounds: Happens if developer mode turns off touch sound along with other options. Solution: return default settings to Settings โ Sounds and vibrations โ Resetting settings.
- ๐น๏ธ Vibration stays in games: Games often use their own vibration engine. Solution: turn off the talkback in the settings of a particular game or use MacroDroid to block the vibration when you start the application.
- ๐ฑ Nana POCO or Black Shark doesn't work either way: Gamer devices (like Black Shark 5) have their own firmware. MIUI before the latest version or use it ADB root rights (not recommended for beginners).
If neither method worked, your device may be using custom firmware (e.g. MIUI for India or custom build), leaving you with two options:
- Update the firmware through Settings โ Software update.
- Contact the Xiaomi service center (if the phone is warranty).
