Xiaomi Redmi timers are a useful feature, but sometimes they don't work: the phone turns off in the middle of an important conversation, the alarm goes off at the weekend, and sleep mode locks the screen while reading. In this article, we'll discuss all possible types of timers on shell devices. MIUI (including the Redmi Note 10/11/12, Redmi 9/10/13C and other models) and show how to turn them off permanently or temporarily, including hidden system settings.
Xiaomi features duplication of timer functions in different menu sections, for example, automatic shutdown can be set in Settings. → Screen, and in Settings → Battery: We have put together unique combinations of actions that work even when standard methods don’t work (for example, when the timer is turned on through Developer Mode or third-party apps).
1. How to turn off the phone's automatic turn off timer
The "Switch Off" feature is useful for saving charge, but often gets in the way. On Redmi, it's hidden in several menus - check everything:
- 🔄 Through “Screen Settings”: Go to Settings → Screen. → Sleeping mode. → Auto-turn off. If there is no point, then the function is disabled by default.
- ⚡ Through "Battery Settings": Settings → Battery → Battery settings → Low-charge auto-shutdown, where you can reverse forced-off at 5% or 15% charge.
- 🛠️ Using Developer Mode: If previous methods didn’t work, activate Developer Mode (click 7 times on Version) MIUI In Settings → About the phone, then go to Settings → Additionally. → For developers → Auto-switch-off.
Some models (e.g. Redmi Note 11 Pro)+) The shutdown timer can be linked to the power saving mode to turn it off:
- Go to Settings → Battery → Energy Saving Mode.
- Select “High Performance” or “Balanced” mode – in these auto-shutdown is automatically turned off.
- If the option is not available, reset the battery settings: Settings → Battery → ⋮ (three-point) → Reset the settings.
☑️ Checking auto-switch-off
⚠️ Attention: Redmi with firmware MIUI 14+ The auto-switch function can be hidden behind the option “Saving schedule.” To find it, search in the settings (the magnifier icon at the top of the screen) and enter the request “Switch off».
2. Disabling the alarm clock and timer in the app “Clock”
Xiaomi’s standard Watch app combines alarm clocks, stopwatches and timers to turn off unnecessary signals:
- ⏰ Alarm clock: Open the Clock app, go to the "Alarm clock" tab. Swipe left on the active alarm clock and hit "Delete" or turn off the slider.
- ⏱️ Timer: in the tab "Timer" click on the icon basket (🗑️) in the upper right corner, then select timers to delete.
- 🔔 Signal sound: If the timer is triggered but you don’t see it on the list, check notifications: Settings → Annexes → The clock → Notifications and disable permission to display.
On Redmi with MIUI 13 and later alarms can sync with your Xiaomi account to delete them completely:
- Open the Clock» → «Alarm clock».
- Press three points (⋮) In the upper right corner, select “Alarms Management in the Cloud».
- Turn off sync or remove unnecessary alarm clocks from the cloud.
What to do if the alarm clock does not turn off?
| Timer type | Where to turn off | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A single alarm clock. | The “Clock” app → the “Alarm clock” tab | Removed by swipe left |
| Repeated alarm clock | «The clock» → «Alarm clock» → press the alarm clock. → «Delete» | It can be linked to the Xiaomi cloud. |
| Countdown timer | «The clock» → «Timer» → basket (🗑️) | Some timers are saved after rebooting |
| Systemic sleep timer | Settings → Screen → Sleeping mode | Turns off the "Never" choice. |
3. Sleeping mode (screen lock timer): how to increase or disable
By default, Redmi's screen goes out after 30 seconds of inactivity.
- Go to Settings → Screen → Sleep mode.
- Choose between 15 seconds and 30 minutes or “Never” (some models may not have this option).
- If the option “Never” is not available, activate the Developer Mode and find there Sleep when connecting to charging – turn it off.
On the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ and other flagships with AMOLED-If you have to keep the screen on all the time (for example, for navigation), use it:
- 📱 Mode "Always on screen» (AOD): Settings → Screen. → Always on screen, shows time and notifications when you lock it.
- 🔌 Developer Settings: Turn on Do not turn off the screen while charging.
- 🎯 Third-party apps: Keep Screen On or Caffeine (available on Google Play).
⚠️ Attention: Redmi with MIUI 14 and later, Sleep Mode may conflict with adaptive brightness. If the screen still goes out after changing the settings, try turning off adaptive brightness in Settings. → Screen. → Adaptive brightness.
4. Hidden timers in MIUI: Where to look and how to disconnect
Xiaomi is adding timers to non-obvious places. Here's where to look for them:
- 📊 «Digital Well-Being: Settings → Digital well-being → Use timer: Here you can limit the time of specific applications.
- 🎮 «Game mode": Settings → Special facilities → Turbo-play mode → Game timer: Disables notifications and blocks the screen after a set time.
- 🔋 «Smart energy saving: Settings → Battery → Smart energy saving → It can force the phone to turn off at night.
- 📱 «Second space": if you use two profiles, the timers can be set separately for each. → Second space.
On HyperOS, some of the timers have been moved to Control Center to turn them off:
- Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the notification bar.
- Click on the icon. ⚙️ («Settings") in the upper right corner of the panel.
- Find the Timers or Automation tab and turn off unnecessary rules.
💡
If the timer is enabled via Google Assistant (e.g., the voice command “OK Google, set the timer for 10 minutes”), check the command history in the Google app and remove the task from there.
5.Timers in Third-Party Apps: How to Find and Remove
Many programs set their own timers that are not displayed in the system settings.
- 💤 Sleep apps: Sleep as Android, Sleep Cycle – can lock your phone at a given time.
- 🎵 Music players: Spotify, YouTube Music have playback stop timers.
- 📖 Readers: Moon+ Reader, FBReader can turn off the screen after a set reading time.
- 🎮 Games: PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact limit game time through built-in timers.
To turn them off:
- Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Select a suspicious app → «Permits» → Turn off “Changing System Settings” and “Run in the Background».
- If the timer is left, clear the cache and app data (in the same menu).
Use for deep cleaning ADB-Teams (computer required):
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.urbandroid.sleepThis command will remove Sleep as Android for the current user without root rights. Replace com.urbandroid.sleep with the desired application package.
6. Resetting timer settings to factory
If none of the methods helped, return the settings of the timers to the factory:
- 🔧 Resetting screen settings: Settings → System system → Resetting settings → Reset the screen settings.
- ⚡ Resetting battery settings: Settings → Battery → ⋮ → Reset the settings.
- 📱 Reset all settings (without deleting data): Settings → The phone. → Resetting settings → Reset your phone settings.
On Redmi with unlocked bootloader, you can turn off system timers through TWRP:
- Install Magisk and module MIUI Optimizations.
- In the module settings, find the “Timers” section and turn off unnecessary ones.
- Reboot the phone.
⚠️ Note: Resetting settings through TWRP or Fastboot can cause data loss if a backup is not made. On closed-loader Redmi models (e.g. global versions), these methods do not work.
💡
Before resetting your settings, export important data: contacts (via Google Account), alarm clocks (manually or through the Internet). MI Cloud), and screen settings (screenshot).
7. Alternative solutions: if the timer does not turn off
If the system methods don’t work, try:
- 🔄 Update MIUI: Some timer bugs are fixed in new firmware versions. Check the updates in Settings → The phone. → Updating the system.
- 🛠️ Firmware rollback: If the problem occurs after the update, return to the previous version via Fastboot or Recovery.
- 📱 Using a different launcher: Some shells (like Nova Launcher) allow you to bypass system timer restrictions.
- 🔧 Manual editing of system files: for experienced users - changing files in the system /system/build.prop (root).
On Redmi with HyperOS (new models from 2026), some of the timers are controlled through the Smart Assistant:
- Open the “Smart Assistant” (the icon on the desktop).
- Go to Automation» → «Personal rules».
- Remove or disable rules related to timers.
