The timer on a Xiaomi TV is a useful feature for automatically turning off the device, but sometimes it works in a wrong time or interferes with viewing. For example, you can forget about the on timer of sleep, and the TV will turn off in the middle of the movie, or the alarm clock will start working at the wrong time. In this article, we will analyze all possible scenarios: how to remove the auto-out timer, cancel the alarm clock or reset the time settings on models Mi TV 4/4A/4S/5, Redmi Smart TV and others.
The process of disabling depends on the MIUI TV firmware version and the TV model. On new devices with Google TV (such as Mi TV Q2), the path to settings may differ from the older versions on PatchWall. We will look at both options, and also tell you what to do if the timer does not turn off via the menu or after a firmware update.
Why Xiaomi TVs can have a timer?
Before you turn off the feature, it is important to understand which timer is activated. On Xiaomi TVs, there are three types:
- π Sleep timer β Automatic shutdown after a given period of time (for example, after 30 minutes).
- β° Alarm clock: Turning on the TV at a certain time (for example, for morning news).
- β³ Parental controls β limiting viewing time for children (may block the screen after the limit has expired).
The first option that most people encounter is a sleep timer, which can be switched on randomly via a remote or Google Assistant voice assistant, and less often, it's an alarm clock that was set up earlier and forgotten in the system, and you can turn off the timer through the settings menu, but the ways vary depending on the interface.

This is the simplest and most versatile method that works on most Xiaomi Mi TV and Redmi Smart TV models with PatchWall firmware (until 2022 release).
- Turn on the TV and press the Menu (or Settings) button on the remote.
- Go to Settings β System settings β Timer.

- Go to Settings. β Parental control.
- Enter. PIN-code (often used by default in 0000, 1234 or date of birth of the child).
- Find the Time Limit or Sleep Timer section and turn it off.
If you forgot. PIN-code, the only way to reset is to reset the TV completely to factory settings. β On TV. β Reset and confirm the action, note that this will remove all installed applications and personal settings.
What to do if you canβt enter a PIN?
Method 4: Disabling the timer through the voice assistant
On Xiaomi TVs with Google Assistant or Aiko (in China), you can turn off the timer with your voice. This is convenient if the remote is lost or not working.
- π€ Β«Okay, Google, cancel the timer on the TVΒ».
- π€ Β«Turn off auto-switch on Xiaomi TVΒ».

Important: Voice control only works on models that support Google Assistant (e.g. Mi TV Q1E, Redmi Smart TV X55), which may not be available on older TVs (until 2019).
