Xiaomi’s lock screen is not just a protection against unauthorized access, but also a notification center that can become a source of annoyance: confidential messages from WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS that pop up in plain sight, or an endless stream of alerts from games and social networks – this is faced by every second owner of a smartphone on MIUI. Unlike “clean” Android, where the notification settings are standardized, Xiaomi’s firmware hides key parameters in non-obvious menus, and some functions are completely dependent on the version of MIUI and device model.
In this article, we’ll look at all the ways you can disable notifications on your lock screen, from basic settings to hidden commands for power users. You’ll learn how to hide the content of messages, block impressions for individual applications or completely remove all alerts by keeping them in the curtain. And why some methods stopped working after the update to MIUI 14 and how to get around it. The instructions are relevant for all modern Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices (including Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12, POCO F5 and others).
Why Xiaomi’s lock screen notifications can be dangerous
Showing notifications on a locked screen is not only a matter of convenience, but also a risk of leaking sensitive data.

Method 1: Globally disable notifications on the lock screen
The simplest method is to completely hide all alerts on the locked screen, leaving them only in the notification bar.

- Go to Notifications on the lock screen.
- Select Do Not Show Notifications (some versions of MIUI call it Hide Notification Content).
After that, the lock screen will only display the icons of the applications without text, but this method does not work for system notifications (for example, about low battery power or connection to Wi-Fi) – they will have to be disabled separately.

Important nuance: On some models (e.g. Xiaomi 12T or POCO X5 Pro) after upgrading to MIUI 14, this item may not be available.
Method 2: Disabling notifications for individual applications
If you only need to hide alerts from certain programs (such as Instagram or TikTok), do the following:
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.

- Go to Notifications.

Method 3: Hidden MIUI settings (for power users)
If the standard methods didn’t work, use hidden settings that Xiaomi doesn’t advertise.
- Activate Developer Mode: Settings → About Phone → MIUI Version (click 7 times)
- Back to Settings → Additionally. → For developers.
- Find Notifications on the lock screen (could be called Lockscreen notifications in English firmware).
- Choose to Disable or Hide Sensitive Content.
On some devices (for example, Xiaomi 13 Ultra) this item is not even in the developer mode. ADB-team:

Method 4: Using Third-Party Applications
If the system settings do not give the desired result, you can use third-party utilities.

When using third-party applications, consider:
- They may conflict with Mi Security and be blocked as "suspicious."
- For full-time work, special opportunity rights are often required (Settings → Special Opportunities → Special Opportunity Services).
- On MIUI 14, some utilities are no longer supported due to changes in the notification API.

Before installing third-party notification management apps, back up your MIUI settings through Settings → Additional → Backup and Reset. This will help restore the system if the application causes crashes.
Method 5: Disable notifications via Safe Mode (emergency mode)
If notifications on the lock screen appear due to a MIUI malfunction or application conflict, you can temporarily turn them off via Safe Mode. This method does not remove settings, but allows you to identify the problem application.
- Press the power button before the off menu appears.

1. Notifications continue to be displayed after disconnection
Causes and solutions:

3. Notifications are shown only for certain applications
MIUI has a whitelist of apps that are allowed to display notifications on the lock screen regardless of global settings.

- Remove unnecessary applications from the list.
