In this article, we’ll look at all the ways you can turn off news on a locked screen, including hidden MIUI settings and obstinate firmware workarounds. Instructions are up to date for Redmi Note 10/11/12, Poco X3/X4/X5, Mi 11/12/13, and other models on MIUI 12-15. If standard methods don’t work, we have backup options without root rights.
Why does the news appear on the lock screen?
The News Feed feature is built into the MIUI shell and is activated by default on most Xiaomi devices.

Method 1: Disconnect via lock screen settings
The easiest method is to deactivate the tape in the settings menu, which works on most devices with MIUI 12-14 (including European and global firmware).
- Open the Settings → Lock screen.
- Tape the item News Feed (or Mi Feed in older versions).
- Switch the slider to the "Off" position.
- Confirm the action if a warning appears.
If the news item is not on the menu:

Method 2: Remove the News Feed app (without root)

Method 3: Disconnect via “Children’s Mode” (Backway)
If the first two fail, you can block access to the tape through parental control, and this method doesn't remove the function itself, but it makes it unavailable.
Steps:
- Open Settings → Applications → Mode for children.
- Create a profile of your child (any age can be specified).
- In the list of applications, find the News Feed (or com.miui.miservice).
- Block it by setting a time limit (e.g. 0 minutes).
- Activate the mode for children - the tape will stop showing.
The downside is that you have to turn off the child mode every time you unlock your phone, but it's a 100% workable way for Chinese firmware, where there's no other option.

Method 4: Reset the lock screen settings
If the news feed comes after a MIUI update or a theme change, resetting the lock screen to factory settings will help, and it won't delete your data, but it will bring all display settings back to the "out of the box" state.
How to do this:
- Go to Settings → Lock screen.
- Slip on three points in the upper right corner (or additionally).
- Select Restore the default settings.
- Confirm the action.
After discharge:
- 🔄 The news feed will be turned off (if it was factory condition).
- 🎨 Reset wallpaper, watch style and other screen parameters.
- 🔒 Password/pattern lock will remain unchanged.
